Can't access log from Admin Console version 3.2.6

Can't access log from Admin Console - Tools, Log - no Requester appears.

Run Help | About, verify both Firmware and UI lines indicate 3.2.6.

Yes, but appears to be ok now, thanks.

Woops, my bad, now get "cannot open Macro C:users\ ...UDReport.txt."

What application is issuing that message? The ISY does not have Macros so that will not be an ISY message.

  • Author

It is identified as an Excell macro.

As a test try the log in plain text format.

Some Excel logs don't work correctly. Like for me with a real old Excel version.

Works ok as plain text. Whoa, try reading that! And yes, my Excel is very old.

I know there have been threads here on Excel problems.

You may want to try some searching and maybe find information.

I vaguely remember some Excel versions looking in the wrong default folder for the log files in Excel format.

That may be it, it says it can't find a file. I'll dig, thanks.

Hello Davonavo,

As BrianH pointed out, the macros do not work with Excel 2003 (unfortunately).

With kind regards,

Michel

I tried the log with the Excel choice.

Excel 97:

Compile Error

TrailingMinusNumbers:=True

Latest Microsoft Excel Viewer: I think it is 2007 version but was put into a 2012 folder in Office.

Blank Spreadsheet.

Libre Office Calc:

Basic runtime error '423' Open text

Workbooks.Opentext File Name= "UDReport.txt",

Hello Brian H,

When the spreadsheet comes up, in the middle of the screen there's button labeled Enable Macros. You will not see anything unless you Enable Macros.

With kind regards,

Michel

I've had pretty good results with my copy of Excel 2003 up til now. This morning, attempting to access Log - Tools, Log, etc. thru Admin Console, I reached the usual notice that file users\bi\appdata\local\temp\ud.xls contains macros. I enabled macros and got Log. With info.

Second attempt using same proceedure I reached "could not open the Excel Macro C:\users\bi\appdata\local\temp\UDReport.txt". No access further. Closing and restarting UDI, trying to access Log, takes me to same message. I have operated on ver.3.2.6 and previous versions with no problem. Can't think of recent change to computer or system that could have caused this.

It appears that the old "operator error" condition has once again reared its ugly head. When I properly close out previously successful Log window and re-step through the procedure, all is well.

Appreciate all help.

The viewer gives no Macro enable message.

The other two do and I say yes and then get the macro errors or file errors.

Since it never worked for me and I just thought 97 was too old. This was only a test to see if I could provide any help.

I always used the log in text format anyway.

Hello BrianH,

97 is certainly old ... but I thought you were using 2007? No?

With kind regards,

Michel

I thought the free Microsoft Excel Viewer was based on 2007 as Microsoft Updates used 2007 SP3 when I updated it.

Help says it is Microsoft Excel Viewer 12.0.6658.5400

Hi Brian H,

We will have to take a look since we have never tested with a Viewer only; always with Full Excel ... so, that might explain the problem.

With kind regards,

Michel
