Remotelinc 2 doesnt work correctly

Hi Guys;

I've always had problems with my remotelinc 2.

When I go to use it, it never seems to work right off.

I understand that it needs to wake from sleep but I'd like to be able to wake it "better".

(I realize how stupid that sounds)

It sometimes works after pushing the buttons repeatedly and other times I have to push the buttons constantly even after its "woken up".

It seems to be grumpier than I am in the morning :D

Any solution would be great.

Thanks,

Drew

Problems? Never seems to work? Wake it better? Those are pretty vague descriptions, not very helpful with troubleshooting.

Assuming that you are simply trying to control devices with your remotelinc, my first reaction would be to suspect communication. Where and what is the nearest RF-enabled reciever (access point, dual-band device)? Do you have dual band devices on both legs of your electrical system?

Again, I know I'm vague about it as I'm not as savvy as others. I apologize for this.

I do have Remotelincs (1st gen) and they work fine in the same room for the same functions.

The Remotelinc 2 flashes red repeatedly shortly after I press a button, sometimes, not always.

It will work for a short period of time (a few hours)

Then when I go to use it again, it will take repeated button presses to get it operating devices.

Call Smarthome Insteon Gold line and talk to them.

IMHO If you have to hit the buttons multiple times for it to work. DEFECTIVE!

When was the last time it was fully charged ? Mine seemed to get iffy right before it died from lack of charge.

The thing with RemoteLinc2 is the small device is often held in the hand, fingers wrapped around the device. This can significantly reduce the RF range. When using it hold it vertically with as little hand wrap as possible. This is to test with as little RF restriction as possible. If it works better that way it may be necessary to have a Dual Band device located closer to the RemoteLinc2. Also put it on charge to insure the battery is not low. Could also be a defective device as Brian has discussed.
