handyman300 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 I am trying to create a series of scenes for my KPL 8 2486D v40. A button would turn some switches on, B would turn the same group off C button would turn some other switches on, D would turn the same group off E button would turn some yet other switches on, F would turn the same group off G button would turn some different switches on, H would turn the same group off I set all of the buttons to Toggle(On) Mode I then create 8 scenes with A-H a controller for each of the scenes and then I adjust the levels and turn the opposite button off. I get through 7 of the scenes and all works fine but on the 8th when I try to turn the G button off (in the scene) I get "Request Failed". It shows the button off but when I goto another scene and back it is set as on. When I push the button H it flashes 3 times, the lights get set correctly and G stays on. This happened on 3.2.6 and I just upgraded to 3.3.2 and it does the same thing. I have also tried this on another of my houses and F, G, and H all do the same thing. How can I fix this ?
Michel Kohanim Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Hi Mike, By any chance were these KPLs replaced with another KPL using the Replace menu option? If so, the problem is that the replace function may not work on I2CS devices. If at all possible, what I recommend is this (at least on one of the KPLs): 1. Remove the KPL from ISY 2. Do a factory reset on it 3. Register back into ISY 4. Right mouse click | Diagnostics | Query Insteon Engine 5. Try adding the last button into a scene Also, how many links do you have in your PLM? With kind regards, Michel
handyman300 Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 Both KPLs were added new, not replacing a previous KPL. I am able to work on one of the KPLs tonight, if need be I can work on the other tomorrow. House #1 --------- PLM links 398 F, G, and H cannot be done correctly/. I removed the KPL, factory reset and then Queried. I then added starting with the last button first H, then G, E, F, C, and D all added correctly. A and B are issues B (turn off) Button A Off, Load Off When I select A Off I get the message "Keypad Linc local sub-buttons cannot turn off the load! You may want to choose a very low level instead" A (turn on) Button B Off, Load On When I select B off I get the message "Mail Server Failure [server not responding}" C, D, E, F, G, and H all work correctly A and B turn the loads off correctly, the button lights do not respond correctly.
Michel Kohanim Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Hi Mike, Yes, please do keep us posted with what you find. In older versions of KPL you could not turn off the load. When you click on any of those nodes, what do you see as far as the model/firmware version on the Admin Console? And, what is the UI version (Help | About)? With kind regards, Michel
handyman300 Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 House #1 is a 2486D v.36 uuid Insteon_UD99 v3.3.1 Office is a 2486D v.40 I got different errors from the Office KPL (which I just received from Smarthome 3 weeks ago). I will try the exercise in the morning at the office to see what I get. The office system is a lot smaller My House #1 is a Pro, the Office not a Pro.
handyman300 Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 Also keep in mind that before A, B, C, D, and E worked on my House #1 F, G, and H did not work. After I reset the KPL and added the scenes in reverse order A and B do not work but all others work. I got "Request Failed" when trying to program the F, G, and H scenes. For Office, All work except H. A and B work fine and exactly as they should. Push A, load turns on, B button light turns off, A button light turns on Push B, load turns off, A button light turns off, B button light turns on This is exactly how the House #1 worked prior to the factory reset and adding the scenes in reverse order.
Michel Kohanim Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Hi Mike, Thank you. It's normal for v.36 not to let you turn the load off using the sub buttons. For v40, please do make sure you add the KPL and then follow up with Right Mouse Click | Query Insteon Engine. Please do be kind enough to have the event viewer running at max level (3) when you experiment and either send the contents to support@universal-devices.com or post it back to this post. With kind regards, Michel
handyman300 Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 I am at the office with the v.40 and did what you asked. I deleted the KPL, factory reset, and then linked the KPL Queried the Insteon Engine Added .1 to a scene with .A No errors to this point Added .1 and .A to another scene and got cannot communicate with .1 Everything acts normal, I can turn the light on and off, it communicates e.t.c I query, write updates and sometimes I get cannot communicate The file is too big for support and I can't add a text filename to this post, how do you want me to send it.
