Linking ISY99i to new Insteon LED Bulb Model:2672-222

I purchased 4 Insteon LED bulbs. The only instructions provided were to use an Insteon Controller to link to the buib by putting the controller into linking mode and turning on the light. The bulb stays in linking mode for 4 minutes. I tried adding a bulb using the insteon address shown on the bulb and all the system seemed to do is go through initialization without stopping. I hope that I can link my bulbs to the ISY99i so I don't have to either purchase more outlets or additional lamplnks.

Use New INSTEON Device, enter the Insteon Address, Name of your choice, and leave the Device Type set to the default Auto Discover.

I do not think it necessary to screw in the bulb just before the New INSTEON Device. Just have it screwed in so it can receive commands.

You do need to be on 3.3.4 for it to recognize the LED bulb device type.

Double check the My Lighting tree to be sure it did not add. It is an I2CS device so it will not take long to add.

Hello LeeG, Brian,

Can you please clarify the capabilities of the bulblinc? Your responses seem at odds with each other, or I just miss understood?

I thought the device was both an RF and powerline device. Does it not support a begin linking command?

I also read where we were waiting for a new ISY revision to support it dirtectly. I missed where 3.3.4 the release notes mentioned support for the bulblinc?

Brian,

I thought I read a while back that you had ordered one? If so what are your impressions?

Without a Set button manual Set button linking is initiated when the bulb is initially screwed in. The Start Linking may work by screwing in the bulb after initiating Start Linking. Have not tried that. The New INSTEON Device should work also and it eliminates any timing question.

The LED bulb is listed in the Device Types pulldown on 3.3.4. Very last entry in the [01.xx] list.

Canceled the order.

Got tired of the never ending Expected Ship Dates slipping and then seeing early users having QC problems. Like the center contact of the bulbs connections falling out when they unscrewed it from the lamp. They also seem to be directional and in my table lamps would probably light my ceiling. I have a few other LED bulbs that also light my ceilings.

I believe they are both power line and RF controlled.

The Manual Linking method is start the controllers linking function and then screw the bulb into the socket.

It stays in that mode for a very short time.

Now that 3.3.4 supports it directly. Users should be able to add them to their systems.

Thank you both for your replies.

I have not upgraded to 3.3.4 yet so my only reference was the release notes.

It sounds like with a ISY update a person should be able to add it as a new device ( and link it) without the need to screw it which is what one would hope for.
