Vyrolan Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 I was wondering what the various experts think about this one... My wife and I like the Hampton Bay Windward IV ceiling fan with light...but it's one that has built-in remote control so I was wary of compatibility with Fanlinc. Driven by the fact that it was the only one she really liked, I started to really dig into it. Here's the fan's manual: Hampton Bay Windward IV Unlike some of the other Hampton Bay (including the Windward II about which there is a thread online detailing how it cannot work with Fanlinc), this one seems like it may be possible. The fan's included remote receiver wires in the exact same way as the Fanlinc would...so I'm thinking we could just replace the receiver with the Fanlinc. Obviously the included remote would not work, but I'd gladly give that up to get Insteon-based control. Here's a comparison of the two wiring setups: Do you guys think this would work? The only real problem I was worried about was reversing direction, but in this model, the remote does NOT reverse the direction. It has a switch by the motor like plain simple fans which really leads me to believe the receiver is doing the exact same thing as Fanlinc. Thoughts anyone?

Thanks for your opinion, and I'll report back once it's actually installed and working.
