ejh3 Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 So I recently wired all my external doors to my 2x4 I/O and have my ISY sending my email notification when I "ARM" this scene. What I would like to do now is have a small tone go off when ANY of these doors are opened. Has anyone used the relay out on the EZIO2X4 to trigger a Peizo of some sort for this type of annunciation? If so, how do you like it? I eventually want to install a Elk M1 when I get the funding:-) Thanks for your input! Ed
Brian H Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 I know others have used an I/OLinc and a Piezo Sounder. The relay Output set to a monetary closure in a EZIO2x4, could be used to do the same thing. viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9846&hilit=Sounder Few points. If you use the +5 volt supply in the EZIO2x4. It is rated at 20mA. So you would have to consider that in selecting a sounder. To set the relay to momentary and to the time in seconds you wanted. The Simplehomenet Utility maybe needed.
Techman Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 You may want to try a X10 Chime module (SC546A ). They're about $25 and an all in one solution.
vicrose Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Expensive but I am using http://www.smarthome.com/50810/I-O-Linc-INSTEON-Remote-Chime-Alert-Kit/p.aspx with 2 additional plug in chime modules http://www.smarthome.com/5081R/Extra-Chime-Module-for-Plug-In-Extend-A-Chime/p.aspx for different parts of the house. The chime modules are not very loud, thus 3 of them for a 3K sq ft house. You can also select from several different sounds. I had this set to chime anytime a door is opened by adding it to a scene with all the open/close sensors but recently changed it from a scene to a program so I could disable the chiming by pressing a KPL button.
ejh3 Posted December 18, 2012 Author Posted December 18, 2012 Thanks for the ideas! Not sure which one I'm going to go with. Again, this is just until I get my ELK M1 installed.
