raydoc Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Bought the kit from Smarthome. Came with the wireless O/C sensor module and sensor for in the sump. Tried linking to my ISY but the ISY does not see it. I have multiple Dual-band dimmers in my house so I would think that they would see the wireless device when I tried to start linking in the ISY. Am I missing something? This is the first time I've tried to link a purely wireless device to the ISY(other than a keypad).
LeeG Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 The range of any given RF device is affected by many things. Also a battery powered RF device has to be put into linking mode to keep it awake so that it is capable of receiving commands. Use New INSTEON Device, enter Insteon Address, Name of choice, leave Device Type set to Auto Discover. Before clicking Ok put the sensor into linking mode and position it near a Dual Band device. Then click Ok.
raydoc Posted January 9, 2013 Author Posted January 9, 2013 I brought them downstairs to within 10 feet of my ISY and its PLM (which I thought was dual band) and put them in linking mode. Then I set the ISY to linking mode. It did not find them. I then entered their addresses, etc. manually but still the linking failed.
LeeG Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Depends on whether a 2412 (not RF) or 2413 (Dual Band) PLM. What is the actual Smarthome Item number of this kit?

LeeG Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Sorry, what is the Smarthome Item number of the Open/Close sensor kit? I am not sure what actual device type is having a linking problem.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Hi raydoc, What's your ISY's firmware version? Support for this device was only added in 3.3.5+ releases. With kind regards, Michel
LeeG Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 "Then I set the ISY to linking mode." Put the wireless Open/Close sensor into linking mode with its Set button. Then use New INSTEON Device, entering Insteon Address, Name of choice, and Device Type set to default Auto Discover. Would still be helpful to know the Smarthome Item number for the kit.
SteveT Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Is there a way to check the status of this open/close sensor? I am using as a water detector as well, but would like to know before the battery goes dead for example.. thanks-
