ISY994

Can I create scenes that consist of a mixture of X10 and Insteon responders? Of X10 responders Only? Come to think of it I am not sure how I build a scene. Could you point me to the correct How-to? Thanks

ISY/Insteon newbie here, so please be gentle. I am looking at installing 3 Fanlincs in my new house (still under construction), but I am unsure about the wiring. Since the electrical is about to go in, is there anything special I need to tell the electrician as far the wall switches servicing the ceiling fans? There are two switches each, one for lighting and one for fan (on/off). Is there some way the electrician can combine them and I can use the 8-button keypad to turn on the lights and adjust fan speed? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I've never messed with electrical or home automation before.

Is there a way to turn off the led's on a 6 button KeyPadLinc completely? Lights in the bedroom bother the wife so hope there is a solution . 0 setting keeps then on dim but still on.

I am getting started with home automation and have installed the ISY994i as well as a few Insteon motion sensors (2420m) and dual band switches (2477s). What I am hoping to do is find a simple program that will allow me to turn the light on manually with the switch and stay on until the switch is turned off. I want to also have the motion sensors turn them on for 10 minutes when the switch is off. If during that time I turn the switch on, the lights should stay on until I turn it off. I am using a Keypadlinc to control all lights off at bedtime. When we go to bed you hit the off button and then it shuts down all the units on. The problem if you go outside the bedroom and turn on a few lights and the go back, if you hit "OFF" again nothng happens becuase the ISY already shows the device in the off postion so it does nothing about running the command again. (Yes the On and off buttons are in non toggle mode) I'm stumped. How do I get ths to happen WHEN te Keypadlinc is already off. I have a very bad habit of walking out the back door in the mornings to let the dog out while the alarm (Elk M1G) is armed. I have to walk out the back door into the screened in porch so I can open the screen door to let him into the back yard. I stand at the screened door until he is finished. While I stand there the alarm goes off and the call center calls me. I need an Insteon device on the screened in porch to let me know the back door sensor was violated so I can go back in and enter my code during the 30 second delay thus preventing an alarm. Hello all, I am new to the world of INSTEON and the ISY. I was hoping to get some much needed help. I have the ISY994i and have been able to program various Switchlincs and appliancelincs just fine with the ISY. However, I am having extreme difficulty adding KeypadLincs. I was under the assumption I could use the ISY to program the various buttons on the KPL such as a "nightime" button to turn off all bedroom lights when I go to bed. The biggest problem I am having is linking the KPLs to the ISY. The first thing I tried was putting the ISY into linking mode and pressing and holding the SET button on the KPL, but it doesn't link. Hello, I have one set of 4-way switches (3 switches) and one set of 3-way switches (2 switches). They are all Dual-band Switchlincs. I am a bit confused on how to add them to the ISY. Do I add all three (or two) switches or do I only add one? On the 4-way and 3-way, I "grouped" them together so when I turn the switch on the top of the stairs shows the same "status" as the switch at the bottom. What I am confused about is adding them to the ISY. Do I add all 3 and 2 switches to the ISY or only one in the group? Thanks!

I have the Garage door kit installed, but I'm not able to get the IOLink to trigger the opener. In the manual it says: Wall consoles from other manufacturers may not work with openers of these serial number groups. Use only the wall console provided with this unit. I have no prob on my lan. I sometimes have prob on wan. any ideas as to why that might be? please note, that i do not believe this is a router issue. I switched out my router to the comcast cable modem (was on fios b4) and i still see the same thing. i have the router set to port forward on 443 (ssl). thanks in advance. -Ron

I need to back out of ISY as gracefully as possible and return to SmartLinc. ISY is simply not working for me. What's the best way to accomplish that? Remove each device through the admin console? Do a factory reset on the box? Thanks

Tried to add KeyPadLinc, manually add through Admin Console. During process, error message box popped up twice ... "Socket Open Failed java.net.SocketTimeOutException" What does this mean?

I have some programs to keep KeypadLinc LED's in sync (got the principles from other posts here), and with my 99 they worked perfectly. Since upgrading to 994 (did a backup/restore) they are very intermittent. Nothing else has changed. Any ideas where to start troubleshooting? I have the latest firmware of 3.3.10 but when I try to add a KPL (2488D), it adds as an unsupported device. Why is this happening now? Also, I went to the About screen, it shows me that the firmware is Insteon_UD994 3.3.10 but my UI is Insteon_UD94 3.2.6. My product is an ISY994i. Is there something wrong here?

Michael - your instructions in the users guide in setting up scenes are simply too simplistic ... especially as it pertains to cross-linking. Situation - Two KeypadLincs controlling Floodlights on InLineLinc. I need Button A of each KeyPadLinc to turn the lights on and off. When lights on, the Button A on each KeyPadLinc should be lit. When lights off, Button As are off. Would seem I should simply be able to establish a scene with each KeyPadLinc A as Controller (cross linking them) and InLineLinc as responder. Hi, I currently have a motion program for when there is motion in the garage. I would like to add it so that my "Scene: Garage Lights", come on, stay on for 20 minutes, then shut themselves off, however if it sees motion during the countdown, the countdown should reset itself. I would also like it that if the lights are already on, then it should just ignore itself. Hi Michel- Can you tell me how the choice of Admin console Theme is stored on the MAC? I set mine to "Desert" and it remembers it for a day or two but then reverts back to the default blue theme. the dry dry dry winter here has me thinking of putting in a humidifier shortly along with supported thermostats (thinking I will go Ecobee betting on the come of the built in support). What kind of humidifiers are you guys controlling? Would you buy the same kind again? Personally I am leaning towards a Honey Trusteam unit with a remote kit (boy a tube and a hose are expensive) and putting a UV lamp in. Would probably tie that UV lamp into the fan relay somehow, but may just put an appliancelinc on it and use the Thermostat to tell me when the fan is on and run the UV lamp. What have you done or plan to do with all your HA/Insteon stuff when you sell a house or move? As cool as it may look when your house is being shown I imagine all the Insteon stuff wouldn't do much to increase the selling price and unless the buyer is already into this sort of thing would end up getting really annoyed with things that may have suited your lifestyle but they can't quite figure out why lights keep turning off behind them. Am I wrong on this? While part of me thinks "I don't want to re-buy a bunch of stuff, I'm ripping it out and taking it with me!" the other part says "if it makes up for it in sell price why not get all new stuff w/ latest rev firmware etc"…

I have an Insteon bulb in a lamp and use it in various programs. My wife however complains about not being able to turn the lamp on when she is sitting beside it. I told her she could turn it on via mobilinc/cell phone or her computer but that didn't go over well, lol. What is the best way to turn it off and on locally? Thanks!
