Does anyone know how to include the 'built-in' ELK status variables in a communication? I use the either the form: Armed State: ${elk.area.#.armedState} Arm Up State: ${elk.area.#.armUpState} OR Armed State: ${elk.area.1.armedState} Arm Up State: ${elk.area.1.armUpState} The latter assumes the '#' is supposed to be substituted with the numbered zone. But neither form works; just shows blank values. If there is a Wiki link describing what all the built-in variables represent and how to use them, please point me in that direction. I posted this question under the Variables forum but this may be a better place for this post.

Is there any way to get the temperature from the wired sensor back to the ISY? The reason I bought the 2441ZTH was to get daily notifications of my pond water temperature. I could send a notification to my phone via a text but only if the wired sensor temperature is sent back to the ISY. So how can I do this? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have my driveway alarm set to do the following: after 530pm, if the triggerlinc goes to open, the driveway lights come on for 20 minutes then shut off. Currently at 530 every day they just go on by themselves. Also is there a way to make the 'off' repeat a few times to get stragglers? Hi, I am using the EZFlora which I bought at the recommendation of forum users. I think its great. I have 4 zones: Sprinkler1 Sprinkler2 Sprinkler3 Sprinkler4 I would like to setup a program so each zone gets a 30 minute watering (is that too much) at night. So, if I wanted zone 1 to start at 1am, run until 1:30am, then wait 5 minutes, start zone 2, (then the same for 3 & 4) What would be the best way to do this with the ISY? Thanks, Rich

How do I link the 2441ZTH Wireless Thermostat such that I get the current state on my Admin Console? I have linked twice....one had everything except the current temp displaying in the admin console. Hello guys, I have recently purchased a "starter set" including an ISY99, two access points, a motion detector, and three dual band dimming switches. I have done some rooting around in the other threads and cannot find the answer to what I am assuming is a very basic question. I wanted to control my counter lights with very specific conditions: If 20 minutes before sunset comes before 6:00pm then turn counter lights on at 5:00pm weekdays But I am having difficulty visioning the program. How does one send a REST command to ISY from a DOS batch file? How do I do it from a VB Script? I did browse the wiki but found nothing on how to actually make a REST call. (I did figure out that I can do it using firefox but I can't call FF from a DOS box.) Maybe I just didn't look in the right places? Any info would be appreciated.

I just ordered the ISY-994i to replace my old setup using smarthome manager. I realize the unit contains the web interface, however the user manual references a Java applet that can be installed on the desktop. While I wait for delivery of the ISY, I would like to begin to familiarize myself with the interface and configure the setup. My Question: Is this possible to install the applet on my desktop and begin setup, or is it futile due to not being able to "see" the devices in my system?

Dear home automation experts, I'm going back and force on a decision to get into home automation project or not. On one side it seems like a nice hobby for a DIYer and with my background in electronics and computer programming this may be an interesting adventure. On another side I have to consider the implications of home automation for other household members. Hi, I've been using the door kit for about 2 years and up until about 6 months ago it was working perfectly. I first noticed that the keypadlinc light wasn't going off when the door was closed, the light stays permanently on. The door is still working, it goes up and down via the KPL or the actual garage door opener but the light always stays on. Today I had some time and tried to do some checking. I noticed that the IO Linc green light remains permanently off. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Is there any further info I can provide that would assist? I have two areas in my house that have three way switch configurations using Smartlinc 2476D switches. Both areas have been working fine for quite awhile. Now just the switch where the load is, is working. The other two switches cannot turn on/off the lights. The leds on those other two switches respond to the status of the lights but cannot control them. This is happening in both areas where the 3 way switches are installed. It seems to me that since both areas where the 3 way switches are installed have lost communication which leads me to believe that the issue is on the controller end instead of the switches themselves. I'd like to setup two mutually exclusive buttons on my KPL for 'Home' and 'Away' that will update respective state variables. I'm a bit confused by my options--the wiki and UI seem to offer conflicting advice. The wiki entry describes a "Mutually Exclusive Buttons" button/window/process that I'm either overlooking, or has been changed. When I click the button that IS available to me, "Buttons Grouping," a window pops up warning me against proceeding, and advising me to create a scene instead. I'm not sure I understand how to do this via a scene, or whether the warning applies to my situation. I'm running firmware/UI v3.3.3. Thanks! -August

So it goes up to 255 but it doesn't seem to go up in 255 equal increments. What number is 20%, 50%, 80%, etc? I can't seem to figure the numbers out. 250 looks as bright as 100 but 255 is way brighter.

I have a scene set up that turns on all of our outside lights, which are spread across five responders of different types. Only one of these lights is controlled by a program that turns the lamp post on at sunset and off at 11PM. I would like to arrange it so that if I turn on the "all outside" scene it will turn on all of the outside lights (as it does now), but when I turn off the "all outside scene" it should leave the lamp post on if it is within the time range that it should be "on" anyway. I have a 2842-2 motion sensor that sends extra on commands when the light is already on. So something is awry in my logic? Sensor is set to 1 minute delay. ISY adds 4 minutes, and that part works fine. It's just the extra on commands I'd like to get rid of. I was planning to monitor an alarm condition, which will be only be triggered momentarily. I would like to latch the alarm condition in the isy. The alarm condition in the isy would then be reset manually. Can this functionality be achieved in the isy ?

Can the fanlinc be controlled via the Venstar Thermostat 2491T1E? I would like to put one in my bedroom and control it via the Venstar stat or maybe the Insteon wireless thermostat 2441ZTH. Will it work with both of those? I'd like it to change speeds at different temperatures. Also can the fanlinc reverse the fan direction based on temp...ie if it get cold reverse direction and change to low speed? The smarthome description didn't say anything about being about to change fan direction. Thanks!

I am putting a fantech inline fan in my bathroom. I am wanting to use an insteon switch of some sort to control the time on but also be able to control it somewhat with the isy. I also want to control the fan speed. They tell me that the fan speed can be controlled and am wondering what someone would use from insteon for that? Sometimes I would just like it to run for an extended period of time but at a low level because this fan has so much suction on high I have had to hold on to something so I did not get sucked out of the room I want to tone it down a little sometimes.
