  1. Just upgraded from 3.1.17 to 3.2.6. Didn't really need any new functionality, but wanted to get to the latest release. My system has been working fine for a long time. However, after the upgrade, the shortcut I have on my taskbar to the 99i Admin Console doesn't work. I get the error "Unable to launch the application". Checking the properties of that shortcut, I see the target is this: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\javaws.exe -localfile "C:\Users\Johnny\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\40\47b1ff68-1ce1442e" I'm assuming that since I cleared the Java cache after the upgrade, that link is no longer valid. Looking in Windows Explorer, I can see tons of folders under the new cache\6.0 folder. How do I either modify that shortcut target, or just create a new one? If I go to My Lighting on my desktop, I can get to everything just fine. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Thanks
  2. Got it. Thanks again. Have a great weekend!
  3. Oh yeah, its all falling into place now. I'm creating scenes like a madman! I still don't understand the "Apply Changes To All Devices" checkbox in a scene. Under what circumstances would you check that, and when would you not? Thanks!
  4. Ok, the light bulb over my head just went on. Its all starting to make sense now. That was a really great explanation of how all this works. I'd still like to see someone put together a video, or a step-by-step example of setting up a scene using the admin console. The documentation I found is just too brief! Thanks again for your replies. You are terrific resource and I appreciate you taking the time to help! John
  5. Ok, that worked, using "Insteon" instead of "Adjust Scene". The scene was indeed at the bottom of the list. So now when I press button A, all the garage lights come on, then button B lights up, but the shop fan does not come on. As you can see from my original post in this thread, button B turns on the shop fan, which is wired to a 2466S ToggleLinc Relay. How can that B button turn on, but not start the shop fan? If I just hit the B button by itself, it lights up and the shop fan comes on. Hit it again, and the light goes off and 10 minutes later the fan goes off. Its just not doing that in the new scene. Thanks for the How-to Scenes link. I read it over a couple of times and am really embarrassed. I spent almost 30 years programming computers, but this scene stuff still has me baffled! Guess it will take some time and experimenting for it all to sink in.
  6. Thanks for the tip Lee. Can you point me to a tutorial/example of setting up scenes in the ISY? The only example I can find is doing a scene with just the buttons and doesn't involve the ISY. I did create a scene in the main tab of the ISY console, and added that button as a responder. I then went through these steps, but don't see the scene listed: Program detail tab, select a program Hit the Action button Select Adjust scene The "In Scene" dropdown box is empty and does not list my new scene
  7. With a 2486S, is it possible, via ISY99i programming to turn on button "B" when button "A" is pressed? Here's the scenario I'm trying to program. I setup these two programs for button "B": Shop Fan On: If Control 'Garage KeypadLinc - B' is switched On Then Set 'Shop Fan' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Shop Fan Delay Off: If Control 'Garage KeypadLinc - B' is switched Off Then Wait 10 minutes Set 'Shop Fan' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I have programmed button "A" to turn on/off 3 set of lights. I would like for button "A" to turn on the "B" button also. Of course, I can add this line to the "Then" section of the program "A" code: Run Program 'Shop Fan On' (Then Path) However, doing that would not actually turn on the "B" button. I have looked at all the possibilities when creating the program, but don't see an option to turn on or off one of the other buttons on the 2486S via an ISY program. Is this possible?
  8. No problem dnl! This is all good information. I'm learning a lot here, but it still ticks me off that we have to jump through all these hoops since the double-click functionality is so unreliable and extremely difficult to implement.
  9. Yes, this is a big help. I've been reading through a very lengthy post here that was linked to in the Wiki. The one about the guy who wanted to open the garage door when he hit a key on his KeyLinc three times in a row. He basically uses this same concept. Took a while for all this to sink in, but now I'm getting lots of ideas of things I had not thought of before. This forum is really awesome!
  10. Just to be sure I understand how this works, since this concept is new to me... When you do this: From that point on, until eternity (or until the ISY is rebooted), any reference to that program will come back as true until you specifically execute this: Is this assumption correct?
  11. That's another great idea! Thanks
  12. Agreed. Either one of those should work every time. I'm giving up on the double-click functionality. Its just not worth the hassle.
  13. I'm going to play with it tonight. Have you gotten to the point where it works every time? I'm really frustrated with this functionality!
  14. Any idea if the 2466S ToggleLinc Relay (v.3A) have the beep? I don't see it mentioned in the product specs.
  15. I'm trying to picture how you are doing this. Are you actually holding on to the paddle the whole time you double-click? If so, I haven't tried it that way. I do the double-click much the way you do a mouse, where I just slap the paddle twice. Now I'm wondering if the relay responds differently that way vs holding the paddle. Haven't heard of that before. Looks like I have some homework to do. Does this "beep" function actually emit an audible beep from the switch? Thanks for the info and ideas! John
  16. I think we have a winner here! That should work perfectly. I'm going to leave out the Off/Off for a day or two, just to see if I can get the hang of double-clicking. But if that fails, the technique above should do the trick. Thanks!
  17. Thanks again for the replies and tips Lee, but I'm just not getting a consistent response from the switch. I double-click it at the same rate each time (about the same speed as a computer mouse double-click), but it only seems to work about once out of every 4 tries. I even programmed 2 of the other new switches to do something on a double-click, and its the same on all of them. I guess I'll just have to give up my plans for using the double-click functionality. I can't rely on something that only works "sometimes" John
  18. Wow. This is really frustrating. This is still a "sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't" scenario. Do other people have this issue with double-clicking? Seems that no matter how quickly or slowly I double-click, it just doesn't work reliably.
  19. Turned logging on, double-clicked the paddle up, and here is the log: Mon 02/21/2011 06:49:40 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 17.A7.D2 00.00.01 CB 11 00 LTONRR (00) Mon 02/21/2011 06:49:40 PM : [standard-Group][17.A7.D2-->Group=1] Max Hops=3, Hops Left=2 Mon 02/21/2011 06:49:40 PM : [ 17 A7 D2 1] DON 0 Mon 02/21/2011 06:49:40 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 17.A7.D2 0F.9D.40 41 11 01 LTONRR (01) Mon 02/21/2011 06:49:40 PM : [standard-Cleanup][17.A7.D2-->ISY/PLM Group=1] Max Hops=1, Hops Left=0 Mon 02/21/2011 06:49:40 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 17.A7.D2 00.00.01 CB 11 00 LTONRR (00) Mon 02/21/2011 06:49:40 PM : [standard-Group][17.A7.D2-->Group=1] Max Hops=3, Hops Left=2 Mon 02/21/2011 06:49:40 PM : [ 17 A7 D2 1] DON 0 Mon 02/21/2011 06:49:41 PM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 17.A7.D2 0F.9D.40 41 11 01 LTONRR (01) Mon 02/21/2011 06:49:41 PM : [standard-Cleanup][17.A7.D2-->ISY/PLM Group=1] Max Hops=1, Hops Left=0 No idea what all this means, but the only switch I see being referenced is the one I double-clicked, which is address 17.A7.D2, named "Garage - Right Side". Here is its program: If Control 'Garage - Right Side' is switched Fast On Then Set 'Garage - Left Side' On Set 'Garage - Rear' On Set 'Shop Fan' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Is there anything in the log above that shows that the ISY even recognized the double-click? Thanks
  20. Thanks Lee. I'll try that wen I get home tonight.
  21. The more I think about it, the more I like that idea. I could just set the program to check if a fast-on is received and the fan is already on, then start the countdown timer to shut it off. Thanks!
  22. Is there something that prevents the double-click functionality from working every time? I setup the program below, but it doesn't always work. I can double-click the switch up, and sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. I've already had a few times where I would double-click up, wait a few seconds, but nothing happens. I do it a second time, still nothing. Then, on the 3rd try it will work. I just don't understand what's going on here! If Control 'Garage - Right Side' is switched Fast On Then Set 'Garage - Right Side' On Set 'Garage - Left Side' On Set 'Garage - Rear' On Set 'Shop Fan' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
  23. Thanks everyone for the replies. Looks like the bottom line here is that the fast-off will immediately turn that load off, no matter what you do after that. That's the part that I wasn't clear on. I may go with an inlinelinc.
  24. I'm playing around with double-clicking & my ISY-99 and have a question. I put a new ToggleLinc Relay switch (2466SW) on my shop fan. I'd like to have a delay in turning it off if I double-click down. I would normally just turn it off by clicking the switch down. I'd like to setup the double-click down to delay turning the fan off for 5 minutes. I just created this test program: If Control 'Shop Fan' is switched Fast Off Then Wait 10 seconds Set 'Shop Fan' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') However, when I double-click down, the fan immediately goes off. What am I missing here? Am I not understanding how the double-click down (Fast Off) works? If this won't work, is there another way to do this? Thanks
  25. Sweet. Thanks Rand!
