Hi, Your message popped up in my email queue so I thought I should at least answer. I am currently having problems with my eisy but I am not sure my experience will have relevance or not to your issue. I don't have any z-wave devices, only Insteon ones. I just replaced my old 994i with an eisy in January so I'm new the different platform. I managed to get all my Insteon devices working with my old programs. Then I tried getting into something new by installing a UD Mobile notification plugin. I thought that also was working fine when a few days ago an error popped up from the UD Mobile app, complaining that my eisy is not connected to my network. One of the suggestions in the error message was to try rebooting so I tried that using the button on the eisy, pushing it 5 times. The reboot seemed to work OK but it didn't make the error message disappear. I submitted a ticket and Michel suggested that I try rebooting by holding the eisy button in until it turned red and then push it again so it turned blue. That did initiate a reboot but it also initiated an upgrade, which I didn't anticipate. When this finished, none of my Insteon devices worked. Consequently, my programs all failed. Not knowing what else to do, I repeated the reboot with eisy button (red to blue). When that finished, there was no message whether the upgrade completed or not. I found out later that it had not. But after this second reboot, all my Insteon devices magically worked. My programs also worked. At that point, I still had the error message from UD Mobile, the upgrade didn't complete and ISY Portal claimed that my eisy was not connected to the network even though I could communicate with eisy from Admin Console on my Mac computer. Michel worked with me for most of the morning such that he got what appeared to be a successful upgrade, but still the error message persisted and ISY Portal still claims that my eisy is not connected to the network. But my programs work and I receive valid notifications from UD Mobile, etc. The only part of my experience that might relate to yours is that after one reboot left me with non-working Insteon, the second reboot got them back working. But I have no idea if the is relevant to your case since I don't know what is causing your problem or mine for that matter. The downside of doing a factory reset may be that you will have to reset some parameters back to what you set them to in the course of bring up your system. It would seem that if stopping your system in the middle of an upgrade left your system partly upgraded, rebooting likely won't return your system to the original state or the fully upgraded state. Likely, you may need to get back to the state of your system before the half-completed upgrade ran. Going back to a factory default configuration may give you something that you can then upgrade, but if you have a backup, would it be better to retreat to the backup version that was working and then look at a possible upgrade? I wish you the best.

What I am about to write probably has no relevance to the flickering problem being discussed but since no one has mentioned this yet, I throw it out and you can decide if it pertains to your case or not. I poked into this thread because I had read that there was now some EISY plugins to talk to PowerWalls. I have two PowerWall 2s, not 3s and I don’t have any knowledge of the difference between the two, but when mine were installed nearly 3 years ago and I had occassion to run off the batteries because of one of our common grid power outages, I had lights flickering all over the house. I believe it was mostly lights running off Insteon Lamp Modules. I traced that to the frequency of the AC output of the batteries. They were slightly off from 60 Hz. For some reason, that off frequency was interfering the lamp module. LEDs plugged directly into a lamp without Insteon were OK. The off frequency was a little higher than 59 Hz. WIth the PowerWall2, there is a control of that frequency that the people in the “BIg House” can adjust. That cured my flicker problem. Sorry to have bothered you if my problem has no relevance to yours.

I started to see the same problem over the weekend, 4 days ago. A day later my neighbor, who is on the same cable internet service, told me that he was having the same problem. At that time, the off periods were longer, many minutes long interrupting my work. We were having some rain and I thought that may have something to do with it. I was busy with other non computer work and didn’t want to take the time to deal with my ISP. He called the ISP and they rebooted his modem/router combo. The next day, I power cycled my modem and the problem reduced fewer and shorter offline periods. Yesterday, it occured 4 times, with each only one minute long. I have been assuming this is still a problem with my ISP. My neighbor does not have any ISY or EISY. He didn’t report to me any more problems after his modem/router was rebooted so I have assumed his is fixed, but he likely doe not have any monitor that would report offline problems of a minute or two.

When I have tried launching the IOX Launcher and loading the admin console, it doesn’t find the EISY. It will take a little work to run a new ethernet cable from my router to the present locaiton of the EISY. I have changed its location from where my old 994i is located so an ethernet cable is not immediately available. I will have to confirm that I have a spare ethernet cable to try running one from router to EISY or buy a new one. Last night I tried again to do a factory reset (10 button pushes), disconnecting the power from the EISY and removing UD Mobile from my iPhone. Then this morning I tried I plugged power back in and reinstalled UD Mobile fromthe QR code on the Setup card trying to start over from the ground up. UD Mobile recognizes my eisy, states that it was once connected but is not now. I then tried to Reset Networking (4 button pushes) then Reboot (5 button pushes). After each, UD Mobile gives the same report. Lastly, following the note about Factory Reset, I repeated the 10 button pushes, waited 10 minutes and then 5 button pushes to reboot and waited 2 minutes. UD Mobile still states that the EISY is not connected.

Tried removing the power cable for about 60 seconds, then reconnected. The UD Mobile screen continues to cycle through the lines “Error”, “Disconnected, will attempt conection”, “Restarting attempt number xx”. Attempting to reload UD Mobile, asks if I want to join “eisy.setup.26e1b”, when I attempt that it replies unable to joing .... I tried earlier to perform a factory reset by pushing the EISY button 10 times, but that is how I got into the Disconnected mode.

Hello, I finally made a try at installing my new EISY. I plugged in the power to the unit and then installed and opened the UD Mobile App. It successfully walked me through configuring EISY for my WIFI network. Some success. Then it asked if I wanted to configure (or install, can’t remember the verb) my Insteon system. I replied to continue. Then it asked me to connect my PLM-U if I had not already. It did not ask me to plug the PLM into an outlet and I know there are sync procedures for these Insteon devices so I did not plug the PLM into the outlet. Pressing Continue, the App went off doing something for some time, but never came back with the next step. Assuming that I should have plugged the PLM into the wall outlet, I then did that. Nothing happened. I tried selecting various buttons on the UD Mobile but did not accomplish anything. I don’t know if the PLM was in fact installed or not. Thinking I should try to restart the whole installation and migration procedure I looked for some way to go back to the beginning. I had found a disucsson in one of the guides about the multi-function EISY button. Pushing it 10 times is supposed to do a factory reset. I tried that. Cleared the UD Mobile app and waiting the prescribed 10 minutes. Restarting the UD Mobile, it is in an infinitie loop trying to access the EISY but failing. After about 20 tries, I quit. Any suggestions on how to restart this installation and evenual migration would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks elvisimprsntr for the warning about running ISY on a UPS with the PLM necessarily off. I will avoid trying that out and deal with the complications of my power-loss program when an ISY reboot accompanies a temporary loss of power.
-
I have “Wait while busy reading” and “Query at Restart” both checked. I don’t have “Catch up schedules at restart” checked. But also, I have all my programs that I want to be free running set to auto start at startup. That is crucial, I believe.

I’m sorry that I can’t propose a fix for this problem but only to say that this hasn’t yet happened to me. My house power is now backed up with solar and Tesla batteries. We get a lot of power grid failures because our northern California public utility has spent decades pocketing cash instead of keeping their grid reliable. Most of the time, the Tesla system kicks in fast enough that ISY isn’t disturbed, but twice the switchover took enough time that ISY saw enough of a power cycle and rebooted. After the reboot, all was running as before. I didn’t know about this “Catch up schedules at restart” option. If you can tell me where you found this box to check or not check, I will look to see if I have mine checked. I have my house computer and router running off their own UPS, which existed before I added solar, and it switches much faster than the Tesla system saving those systems from rebooting. I haven’t yet connected ISY to that UPS because of power routing complications to where ISY is located and because I’m sure that the PLM that drives the Insteon signals can’t be filtered by a UPS. But I am going to separate out the power to ISY from the PLM power so that I can put ISY on the UPS. I added some circuitry to an Insteon IO Linc module to warn me when the grid is off, and the programing for that warning got overly complicated to handle grid loss with and without possible reboots. The program will be simpler and more rational if I can eliminate ISY reboots happening with grid power loss.

Once I clear the error message and launch the LAN console, everything appears to work correctly. I will assume that to be the case then until I find something going wrong or hear of an update. Thanks.
-
I am getting the same message with my ISY 994i. I don’t think there is any firmware update for ISY 994i. Am I use supposed to live with this error message that needs to be cleared?
-
Yes, I started getting this error message a week or so ago. Never got it before. Once I clear it with “OK” and load the LAN version of the console, everything seems to work OK. But I need to load the console in between repeated error messages since the console won’t load while the error message is still visible. I guess it’s just a bother to have to clear the message but I am concern that it means something else is not right.

Unable to add keypadlink (8 button) device to my isy994i
Jimini replied to Florida Joel's topic in ISY994
I only have 8-button remotes so couldn’t say for sure but the suggestion to install the 8-button device was going to me my suggestion before I saw it given by someone else. Some changes like 6 to 8 can be painful. -
That upgrade will have to wait until I have some time to work with it. I guess I’ll just leave what I have running until I can spend the time on the upgrade. Thanks for your help.

I have a 994i/IR PRO with the Z-wave module but I have never added any Z-wave devices. For the actual board number, I will have to look for that.

Thank you for the reply. Does that mean that my notifications from US Mobile will not work until I upgrade to EISY? I mean when I poke on notifications on the US Mobile app, I get this message that I need firmware version 5.6.2.
-
I found the announcement but I don’t see where to find the actual firmware upgrade file. I am looking for 5.6.2 (or is it now 5.6.4?) for the ISY not the EISY, please
-
I apologize for being an intermittent ISY jockey so don’t exercise my ISY often enough to keep all this current in my head. I’m getting a message from UD Mobile saying that I need to upgrade my firmware to 5.6.2, but I cannot find instructions on where to find the firmware file to install. I’m think that installing amounts finding the right file and opening it in response to the “manually upgrade ISY” command under the console help menu.

Sorry, I misunderstood the use of Group. So the Group and not the Device is used to limit who receives the notifications? And the device is not needed to be included in the body specification?
-
I have set up notifications with UD-Mobile. The setup directions were fairly easy to follow. I have notifications working and even have variable substitution working. Something I was not successful with using Pushover, probably my fault, I assume. I have one issue to solve before I can release this in place of text messages and Pushover. I have two iPhone, one for my wife and one for me. I set a different device name for each. They are listed under the same account. When I include "&device=DEVICE_NAME" in the body, my notifications still go to both phones. I then created a group, put both devices in the group, and included "&groupid=GROUP_NAME" along with one device name in the body. Again, my notification was sent to both phones. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Did I miss something in the setup? I need to have a way to send some notifications to only one of our two phones.

Thank you again for all the information and suggestions. It is clear now that I had no need to replace the ISY-Portal with the MobiLinc portal. Further, if I want to try the UD-Mobile, I think now I need to have the ISY-Portal. I will try to switch back to ISY-Portal both to consider UD-Mobile but also because I don’t know what other functionality I may have lost when I switched to MibiLinc. Thank you, Javi, for clarifying my misconception of the sautés of UD-Mobile. I have tried to run the U-Tube video that you pointed to for instructions on UD-Mobile setup, but the volume is so low that I can’t hear the verbal instructions. I have the volume of the vide and the volume of my computer at maximum. I can’t find any other volume control to turn up. Regarding the substitution of variable values with Pushover, I have looked a few times, based on several recommendations, at the Wiki for EMail and Networking Substitution Variables. This covers the form of inserting variable values with the essentially escape character “$” and variable id. I’ve tried inserting that in the network resources definition of a notification but it is basically ignored. The body of the resource definition for Pushover contains the name of each parameter prior to the parameter such as “title=“ or “message=“. It would seem that a similar parameter name must proceed the insertion of a variable to be substituted, but I don’t see any parameter in the Pushover description that would fit this use. I apparently still missing something to add.

Wow. My questions opened up much discussion and a few tangents. I appreciate the side tracks as well To answer a few questions that were asked of me. I use Apple phones and Apple computers. This started over 30 years ago when I couldn't get my young son to touch the PC I bought, but as soon as I purchased a Mac on the suggestion of a friend, I could only use it after my son had gone to bed. And then became locked into the Apple universe. But that's my own digression. I had my own on-again, off-again difficulty with the @vtext messages for more than a year. Lately it as been completely on-again, i.e. no messages get through. If Mr Bills suggested link provides a way to include variable values in my Pushover notifications, it will satisfy my needs. My concern about UD Mobile is that references in the UD email & notification Wiki said that it was still in a sort of a prototype status. I do have one more question. I got the impression from that same Wiki that MobiLinc is required for Pushover, so I switched my module makup from including ISY Portal to including MogiLinc. In a UD Ticket with Michel, he commented that he didn't think MobiLinc would be required for Pushover. Does anyone think I really needed MobiLinc instead of ISY Portal for Pushover? I'm not sure if I lost any functionality by making that switch. Thanks for all the suggestions and discussion.

I like many have been forced to abandon notifications via text messages, expecially Verizon's since they no longer work reliably. I have found several threads dealing with this but I have not found any which are not archived and closed. Therefore, I can pose any. new questions to these threads. Thererore, I am posing my questoins on a new one. First, it appears that the favorite alternativie to text messages is Pushover. But another is UD Mobile. Would any have comments about which one of these two would be better? Second, I have been able to create simple messages with Pushover. I have not found any explanation of how to add variable substitutions to a Pushoveer. message. Has anyone found a way to add these

To all who sent me replies to my need to find an Admin Console that would work without internet service, thank you very much and I apologize for the long delay before sending this update. I was able to install IoX Launcher and it is working fine. We were plagued with two consecutive power & internet outages in the span of two weeks, lasting 74 hours and 52 hours each with only a 3-day reprieve in between with power and internet. It may still happen again with the next storm due on Tuesday. Thank you.

Thanks. Got it downloaded. Bypassed the Mac security verification and opened it. Got a warning that my Java was out of date but replied “Later” to that. It started to load, displayed the UD logo but then stopped saying unable to launch. Long list of details but the first is: unknownHostException: ISY.universal-devices.com. Don’t know if this is related to out of date Java on my system or Mac incompatibility. It will be difficult to update computers Java since I don’t have internet service through my isp. I can only download stuff to my phone through its cell data channel and move it to my Mac. Any suggestions?
