Adding August Smartlock Pro Z-Wave
PB11 replied to saphotoexpress's topic in Z-Wave - Series 300/500
Is this the same as repair links? -
Don't see the luminance either. Is there somewhere I can research the purpose and definition of these fields? Just not getting how to bring them into play ie scenes or programs 87773733_MotionSensor.MP4

Hi @larryllix Is this the location you are referring to? When I click on it it simply takes me to the device, but no further information.

I'm struggling to understand what each of the 3 components are created when I link something like a motion sensor. How can these be utilized in scenes or programming and why do they all have the same fields under the "options" tab? I would like to try to tray their heartbeat. It was suggested using the dusk and dawn component, but I don't see either when I link this device. I really don't even understand how I would use it as a motion trigger as I don't see a variable that acknowledges or changes with motion.

Here's what one of my motion sensor looks like with clean install. How do i know which is the light sensor?
-
There is a post "motion sensor heartbeat" by @metal450 with a bit of info on programming. Control Sensor-Dusk.Dawn is switched on OR Control Sensor-Dusk.Dawn is switched off I'm unclear what the switched on and switched off means. Is this the sensor detecting motion?
-
I think @larryllix meant the writes icon at the top of the admin console. It turns off the auto writes.

Wondering if any one can help me understand the motion sensor makeup. I had assumed that much like a leak sensor (battery) there would be a heartbeat associated with the motion sensor. I embedded what I assumed it must be but the program from @belias which tracks the battery for the leak sensor isn't sending what I would expect for the motion sensor. Am I wrong in assuming there is a heartbeat for the motion sensor?

Control seems to be working. Thanks for the pointers. I don't understand why Status wouldn't work in this instance. Not sure I understand its purpose.
-
each of these dimmers is stand alone. I'll give control a try to see if that works. I had read in another archived post that status was preferred for the following "When using control, this program will only trigger when the switch in manually operated and, in this case, only when turned on specifically rather than fast on or fade up. Status will catch the change in status regardless of how it gets that way - even if the switch is turned on remotely by a linked device or scene.

Hi All. Guessing I'm over looking something that is right in front of me. I've created a program that is to turn off certain lights(all dimmers) after a 10min period (currently set to 10 seconds for testing). It runs as expected if I manually run the "If" statement, but doesn't when left to its own. I've tried both the on level "is not" as well as ">" off. neither are working. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

How is this done?

Well done MrBill

K, I'm fairly new at this as well but here goes. If i understand what you are wanting to do, you will need to add your switch into the Scene Toggle A as well as a controller. Two controllers, Toggle A and switch#, both controllers. Then you will need to click on the scene as well as each controller and set the configuration for each. Ie click on the scene and set the response you want from Toggle A and Switch#. Then click on Toggle A inside of the scene and configure the response you want from Switch #. Finally click on Switch # and configure the response you want from Toggle A There are others on here who will explain it much clearer, but there you go

Awesome. Thank you.

Something Lilyoyo just pointed out to me for a different issue i was having as well. Not only do the players in the scene need to be configured, but under the controllers of that scene each device needs to be configured. Basically, click on scene adjust your settings, then click on controller and adjust the included switches/dimmers settings.
-
I generally don't use the physical device, but activate me scenes via Alexa. To still have functionality when our country internet is spazzing out I thought I would put scenes on the 8 button and so am only now seeing the strange behavior. Nice catch Lilyoyo. So simple once you know.

Interesting

I should have said i didn't realize i had to do so under the controller

Yes, the inlinlinc is part of the scene. I have configured it to be off in the scene, not sure how to do so for controller

Sorry. Just made edits to my post. What I'm experiencing in my "Dim Kitchen" Scene, is that the local switch/dimmer/inline parameters are over riding the scene settings even when activated by a controller. For example I have my "Island light" switch configured to be off when the "Dim Kitchen" scene is activated via button C on an 8 button switch. The action results in the Island lights coming on the local setting values. The physical lights are routed through the inlinelinc which is also part of the "Dim Kitchen" scene and is configured to be off when "Dim Kitchen" is activated.

Not sure I will be able to explain this very well. I have many scenes which work perfectly, but I have a few scenes that don't and I can't understand why. My understanding of scenes is that the scene parameters override the local switch/dimmer/inline parameters when activated by a scene controller. The only way I seem to have the desired effect is to click on the switch/dimmer/inline device within the scene and change the parameters on this level, which I believe are no longer the scene parameters but actually the local settings. The makeup of this scenes I'm having trouble with includes an inlinelinc dimmer which I am wondering could be the culprit. Sorry if this is hard to follow.

Hi All Wondering if anyone can offer any experienced suggests migrating an already existing Smarthings Z-wave network over to my ISY. I also need to find a compatible Z-Wave extender that works with ISY z-wave module, as the ISY alone is unable to connect with devices at the far ends of my home. Any suggestions appreciated. PB

yes that's correct. Thanks for pointing that out. I'm realizing that trying to source answers to the same question from two different conversations may be bad practice?
