  1. I can see it at the following link but it does not update in the UD Admin console. http://data.backyard2.weatherbug.com/data/ecv.aspx?ID=p11114 I get this error: Sat 2011/08/20 11:41:16 AM System -140005 CLI-WBug Any reason why? Thanks, STeve
  2. Are backyard weather stations available via WeatherBug?
  3. Michel - I'll try that tonight. Per the authentication errors...I had Network Magic installed on another computer in the house. Once I uninstalled it all the errors stopped. Does that make sense? Steve

    Scenes Problem

I have had scenes turn "on" automatically in the middle of the night. There is no other indication of what triggered the scene in my logs. Normally the scenes are all turned on by programs via motion sensors or switches. What would cause this? Also, I have noticed many -10103 errors in the error log. I uninstalled Network Magic from everything per previous notes. Thanks, Steve
  5. I thought I'd pass this on in case anyone else has the same problem. My NTP stopped working on my ISY99i. I also was unable to update my internet time on my Win7 PC. I found this by noticing these messages, which came every 20 seconds on my ISY99i: Time User Code Message Sun 2011/05/22 03:51:09 PM System -60006 n/a I tried some of the DNS solutions in other posts. Nothing worked including using an IP address for the NTP server in the ISY99i. Looking back in logs, I determined it probably started when I turned on high firewall security and did selective port forwarding on the firewall for my ActionTec DSL Router model GT724R. I did some searching and it looked like all I had to do was customize my GT724R firewall to open port 123. I did so on the customize screen for the different firewall security levels. That didn't work for both the ISY99i and the PC. I thought I could just do some port forwarding however the GT724R would not let me create a rule. The message indicated a "Error found on page". I got around this by adding port 123 for TCP & UDP to an existing port forwarding rule. Go figure... Once I assigned that rule to the ISY99i, NTP worked just fine for the ISY99i. Ditto for the PC. Hopefully this will help someone with a similar problem. Maybe there was a simpler solution...others can comment on that. Thanks, Steve
  6. Applying the OS and software updates to get to OS x v 10.6.6 took care of my problem. Steve
  7. Just a followup. I didn't have the OS version 1.6.x on my Macbook Pro and will see if that corrects the problem...
  8. When accessing the Administrative Console using URL http:///admin using Firefox on my MacBook pro with Mac OS X v 10.5.8 I get the following status message at the bottom of Firefox: "Applet com.universaldevices.client.ui.UDClientApplet notloaded". I can successfully access the console via URL http///admin.jnlp. I am running Insteon_UD99 v.2.8.16 and my product is ISY 99i/IR (1030). Per Java.... Below is a dump from the Java console. Java version 1.6 64 bit (SE 6 64-bit 1.6.0_22-b04-307) is the first priority in my Java Preferences window. But it looks like it runs version 1.5. Just so you know, "Keep temporary files for faxt access:" is checked, I have 1,000 MB of cache and I've repeatedly have removed and re-added certificates and cleared the cache. How can I get the applet working? 9. Thanks Michel - I did have it off. I just called in as you requested and am waiting for the callback. Thanks, Steve
  10. Michel, Thanks...I've been busy and haven't had time to call but may later today. Maybe this will help.... The Java Console log created this entry when I clicked on Tools/Log: cache: Reading Signers from 1485 http://192.168.0.5/web/chart.jar | C:\Users\Steve\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\59\cec81bb-3776c50c.idx I looked in the folder above and these are the entries in that folder: http://screencast.com/t/rE1cRr0qIA The information doesn't display in either the text file or in the Excel file on my Win7 PC (even when both the firewalls and antivirus are off). I can view the information in both text and .xml formats if I do the same think on my MacBook Pro (and get a log file that is a few hundred lines long). I think it has to do with a setting in Windows 7. I'm running Win7 64 bit. Could that be an issue? I'll try to call later today. Thanks, Steve
  11. Michel, The file size is 48 bytes. I forgot to mention that the headings show up (in both Excel and the text file). Thanks, Steve
  12. When asked if I want to view the log in Excel, I select NO. It prompts me where to save the log and I save it to my desktop. It looks like the ISY version and file date/time are used in the naming conventions for the log file (e.g. ISY Log.v2.8.4__2010-10-24.11.54.33.txt). Thanks, Steve
  13. Michel, Before I set up a support call, I tried to view my log using Firefox and OpenOffice on my MacBook Pro to eliminate any issues with the ISY99. I DID get a log file to display...with data in it! So I suspect this problem is unique to Windows 7 (Ultimate) since I don't see the log in either a text file using Notepad nor in Excel. Just for kicks, I disabled the antivirus and firewall and tried it again but had the same results. Is there anything else you'd like be to try before scheduling a call? Thanks, Steve
  14. Thanks Michel. I assume the best way to schedule a call is to issue a support ticket...is that correct? (Sorry...I haven't used your support yet.). Thanks, Steve
  15. Lee - Thanks a bunch. The folder technique (see http://screencast.com/t/3lPpLGOkMn) and the use of separate scenes made the responses MUCH quicker. I have a different problem with my programs though. Below is an example of one of my programs (the new version). (All of my programs are coded similar to this one.) In the "then", I have a 5 minute wait in the code before turning off the scene. Indeed, after 5 minutes the "then" statement continues running the code after the "wait" and turns the scene off...that is, the lights go out. This happens even though there is motion in the room and the LED in the MS detects motion (I see it blinking). I thought that when the Sensing Mode for the Motion Sensor is set to "On commands only (unchecked)", the MS is "switched on" every time it senses motion. If so, the if statement should evaluate to true, and the "then" statement (and the 5 minute wait) re-started. Do I misunderstand how this works? If Control 'Bath - Sensor' is switched On Then Set Scene 'sc Bath Master 40%' On Wait 5 minutes In Scene 'sc Bath Master 40%' Set 'Bath Master' 30.0 Sec (Ramp Rate) Set Scene 'sc Bath Master 40%' Off In Scene 'sc Bath Master 40%' Set 'Bath Master' 0.2 Sec (Ramp Rate) Run Program 'p BathMstr2 Sunrise/set 40%' (If) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Thanks again for the advice... Steve
  16. Rand - I can see the following: The "LS" command displays: [/ *.*] testfile.txt queryall.isy log web code conf user tmp The "LS log" command displays: [/log *.*] a.log 356966 b.log 1046528 c.log 1046528 error.log 137982 I'm not telnet proficent and don't know how to display the contents of the log file... What else should I try? Thanks, Steve
  17. Michel - I am using Win7 with Office 2007 and ISY99 2.8.4. I repeated that test again. I saved it to a file and viewed the resulting text version of the log in Notepad. It is empty. Per Excel...I triple checked Excel and macros are enabled. But I'm more confused about why I don't see the log. BTW--I cleared the Java and browser cache and after a couple minutes looked at the log again...but that made no difference. I don't know if this is related but I also get a "Failed to retrieving product update Information" when I open the Admin UI. Thanks, Steve
  18. After some help with others in this forum I created the following programs to control the bathroom lights using a version 2 2420M Motion Sensor and a 2476D SwitchLinc Dimmer. The Sensing Mode for the Motion Sensor is set to "On commands only (unchecked)". We wanted varying dimming levels depending on the time of day. Therefore I created and used the "Bath Master" scene that includes just the 2476D. The 2476D "Bath Master" SwitchLinc is also managed by a 2440 RemoteLinc (they are linked). I'd appreciate comments about the efficiency of this technique since I may clone it for the other 3 MS I will be using. Also I noticed the MS takes not just a second...but a couple seconds...to respond. Could this be enhanced with a better programming, linking, and scene techniques? Thanks, Steve Start of Programs BathMstr1 5:30-Sunrise 80% If On Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri From 5:15:00AM To Sunrise + 19 minutes and 59 seconds (same day) And Control 'Bath - Sensor' is switched On And Program 'BathMstr6 Switch On' is False And Program 'BathMstr9 Motion Timer Enable' is True Then In Scene 'Bath Master' Set 'Bath Master' 8.5 Sec (Ramp Rate) In Scene 'Bath Master' Set 'Bath Master' 80% (On Level) Set Scene 'Bath Master' On Wait 5 minutes In Scene 'Bath Master' Set 'Bath Master' 30.0 Sec (Ramp Rate) Set Scene 'Bath Master' Off Run Program 'BathMstr1 5:30-Sunrise 80%' (If) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') BathMstr2 Sunrise/set 40% If From Sunrise + 20 minutes To Sunset - 20 minutes (same day) And Control 'Bath - Sensor' is switched On And Program 'BathMstr6 Switch On' is False And Program 'BathMstr9 Motion Timer Enable' is True Then In Scene 'Bath Master' Set 'Bath Master' 0.2 Sec (Ramp Rate) In Scene 'Bath Master' Set 'Bath Master' 40% (On Level) Set Scene 'Bath Master' On Wait 5 minutes In Scene 'Bath Master' Set 'Bath Master' 30.0 Sec (Ramp Rate) Set Scene 'Bath Master' Off Run Program 'BathMstr2 Sunrise/set 40%' (If) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') BathMstr3 Sunset-8pm 30% If From Sunset - 19 minutes and 59 seconds To 7:59:59PM (same day) And Control 'Bath - Sensor' is switched On And Program 'BathMstr6 Switch On' is False And Program 'BathMstr9 Motion Timer Enable' is True Then In Scene 'Bath Master' Set 'Bath Master' 2.0 Sec (Ramp Rate) In Scene 'Bath Master' Set 'Bath Master' 30% (On Level) Set Scene 'Bath Master' On Wait 5 minutes In Scene 'Bath Master' Set 'Bath Master' 19.0 Sec (Ramp Rate) Set Scene 'Bath Master' Off Run Program 'BathMstr3 Sunset-8pm 30%' (If) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') BathMstr4 8-12 pm 10% If From 8:00:00PM To 11:59:59PM (same day) And Control 'Bath - Sensor' is switched On And Program 'BathMstr6 Switch On' is False And Program 'BathMstr9 Motion Timer Enable' is True Then In Scene 'Bath Master' Set 'Bath Master' 4.5 Sec (Ramp Rate) In Scene 'Bath Master' Set 'Bath Master' 10% (On Level) Set Scene 'Bath Master' On Wait 5 minutes In Scene 'Bath Master' Set 'Bath Master' 19.0 Sec (Ramp Rate) Set Scene 'Bath Master' Off Run Program 'BathMstr4 8-12 pm 10%' (If) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') BathMstr5 Switch Off If Control 'Bath Master' is switched Off Or Control 'Bath Master' is switched Fast Off Then Set 'Bath Master' Off Run Program 'BathMstr1 5:30-Sunrise 80%' (If) Run Program 'BathMstr2 Sunrise/set 40%' (If) Run Program 'BathMstr3 Sunset-8pm 30%' (If) Run Program 'BathMstr4 8-12 pm 10%' (If) Run Program 'BathMstr6 Switch On' (If) Run Program 'BathMstr5 Switch Off' (If) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') BathMstr6 Switch On If Control 'Bath Master' is switched On Or Control 'Bath Master' is switched Fast On Or Control 'Bath Master' is switched Fade Stop Then Run Program 'BathMstr1 5:30-Sunrise 80%' (If) Run Program 'BathMstr2 Sunrise/set 40%' (If) Run Program 'BathMstr3 Sunset-8pm 30%' (If) Run Program 'BathMstr4 8-12 pm 10%' (If) Wait 30 minutes Set 'Bath Master' Off Run Program 'BathMstr6 Switch On' (If) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') BathMstr9 Motion Timer Enable If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Set Program 'BathMstr9 Motion Timer Enable' To Run At Startup Else Set Program 'BathMstr9 Motion Timer Enable' To Not Run At Startup End of Programs
  19. Rand, Macros are enabled in Excel. There are no entries even when viewing in Notepad. It is unusual to have NO log entries? Steve
  20. When I select Tools / Log and request to display my log it is always empty. When is the log not empty? Thanks, Steve
  21. Thank you Lee and Tim. Your answers helped me simplify my programming. I Set the MS to "On Only" mode, kept the "Enable" program, removed the "Off" program, and modified the "On" program (even using the MS's DD setting). My new "On program is below. Thanks again for helping me and clarifying the commands for me so I better understood them and could correct my code. Steve P.S. I am coding the bathroom now with a slight twist to use scenes and ran into a problem. I'm posting that separately. If Status '2 Office - Dusk/Dawn' is On And Control '2 Office - Sensor' is switched On And Program 'Office9 Motion Timer Enable' is True Then Set 'Office Lamp' 30% Wait 2 minutes Set 'Office Lamp' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
  22. Tim, It seems like what I'm trying to do with scenes is not possible. Do I have to use a different programming technique? Thanks, Steve
  23. Lee, I did that but now the "off" program doesn't work. I believe this is because when the On Only mode is selected, the MS never has an off status. Therefore the "off" if statement is never true and the lights never turn off. I used the programs 5, 6, and 7 from the Wiki here: http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Using_Motion_Sensors_in_Bathrooms Is the WikI incorrect? Steve
  24. I'm having a problem with programming a 2420M motion sensor to turn on lights controlled by a 2476D SwitchLinc Dimmer v.00 (for bathroom lights) or controlled by a (B2457D2) LampLinc BiPhy v.3A (for an office lamp). I’m using ISY v2.8.3. I want to turn on and keep on the lights on in a dimmed (or if desired not dimmed state) so long as there is movement in the room. I have put my MS settings, scene information, and programs at the end of this message. To keep the problem solving simple, my examples below are for the office, which has an "on" program to turn on the lamp at 50% and an “off†program to turn off the lamp after 4 minutes of no movement. (The code for the office and bathroom are similar except that the bathroom has multiple "on" programs depending on the time of day that should provide dim lights late at night.) I have a couple problems…. 1. Rather than 4 minutes per the "off" program, the lamp turns off after 0.5 minutes which is the timeout for the MS. I've changed it to to 2 minutes and get the same result (it turns off at 2 minutes). 2. Setting the scene level for the lamp does not seem to work. For the “Office On 50%†program I use a scene and rather than just turning it on to 100%, I want the scene to turn on the lamp at the 50% level and ramp over 2.0 seconds. The lamp turns on instantly and also turns on at the 100% level. I’d appreciate if someone can tell me how I can change my settings or program to fix my problems… Thanks, Steve Settings and Programs Below The settings for the MS can be seen at this link: http://screencast.com/t/opRUPnvHFrR I created a scene with the MS as a controller and dimmer as responder. You can see them at these links: http://screencast.com/t/vEEFFXo4Aw http://screencast.com/t/cd5fCEQ6o3m Note that I have a 2440 RemoteLinc v.00 that also controls the lamp...mostly to just turn it off from another room. Program Office Motion Timer Enable If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Set Program 'Office Motion Timer Enable' To Run At Startup Else Set Program 'Office Motion Timer Enable' To Not Run At Startup Program Office On 50% If Control '2 Office - Sensor' is switched On And Program 'Office Motion Timer Enable' is True And Status 'Office Lamp' is not On Then In Scene 'Office / Office' Set 'Office Lamp' 2.0 Sec (Ramp Rate) In Scene 'Office / Office' Set 'Office Lamp' 50% (On Level) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Program Office Off If Status '2 Office - Sensor' is Off And Program 'Office Motion Timer Enable' is True Then Wait 4 minutes Set Scene 'Office / Office' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
  25. Michel - 1. I don't understand how #1. Sensing mode works. 2. I cannot get the program that is supposed to turn on my 2476D dimmer on using my 2420M to work. Here is the code: if Control 'Bath - Sensor' is switched On then Set 'Bath Master' On Do I need the 2 devices linked to do this? Do I need to set up a scene to make this work? Thanks, Steve
