LeeG, No, the actual value is 45%-55% range. Billy

LeeG & Michel, I am bit confused. However, I did hit Query and ran to check my thermostat reading on Humidity and it's correct where ISY/console shows 158%. The ISY and the thermostat is about 30 feet away. I did ordered a new dongle and it's coming. Should able to swap it out next week. Billy

Hi All, I have read a few messages about the motion sensor and its darkness setting. I, too, have played long and hard with it. My conclusion is that the ISY timeout setting works but not the darkness setting. It doesn't matter what the setting is, it turns on. Facts: 2420M Version 2.0 ISY version 2.8.x Jumper: 3 & 5 are both pins The UD owner manual has it "Darkness Sensitivity - The higher the value, the darker it needs to be for the unit to see night. Default = 35. Range = 0 - 255." I would think it means by setting to 200, it would mean pretty dark before it trigger On...Nop! The darkness dial knob, what is the equivalent to turn clockwise? Is it same as decreasing the value on ISY darkness setting? If I leave the jumper 5 off (on a single pin) and adjust the dial knob in the device, I can set to my desired darkness to trigger On. So, does it mean ISY and the motion sensor is not compatible on darkness setting but works on timeout setting? Billy

I'll get the dongle exchanged out first before exchanging the thermostat. I'll update you when I get the dongle swapped out. Thanks. Billy

LeeG and Michel, Here is a fragment of a level 3 log when I do Query. It returned 154% and 30 seconds later, it returned 44%. Michel, I pulled out and resat it but still the same result when query showing 158%. Think the humidity module is bad? Billy
-
Michel, Hmmmmm. I upgraded to version 2.8.1 and the problem still there when I query the thermostat with the humidity sensor. The Console shows >150%. Do you think it's my humidity sensor that's having a problem? Does yours go to >150% when query? Thanks. Billy
-
Michel, Since I have problem with setting up using hotmal, have you fixed the original problem with the mail server on your side (UD mail server)? I tried with setting back to default and did a test, I am still getting the mail server error messages. Please update. Thanks. Billy
-
Michel, The original problem is when I do query to the thermostat, the humidity shows > 100% which we all know it's incorrect. It is correct when it is done automatically sent by the thermostat. I am not questioning when it is done automatically but when I do manually query. Are you saying yours doesn't show > 100% when manually query? Thanks. Billy
-
Michel, Any new development/news on this? Thanks Billy
-
Rand and Michel, I reconfigured as specified on the link but I'm still having issues. I use hotmail.com. So, my settings: SMTP Server: smtp.live.com SMTP Port: 587 UserID: xxxxxxxxxxxxx@hotmail.com Password: ********** From: ISY Alert Timeout(ms): 1000 Use TLS: Checked I also tried port 25 and TLS unchecked. Still no go. Billy

Michel, I wouldn't know how to change to use my own mail server. So, it is using the default in the SMTP Settings. BTW, all other functionality are working fine. Billy

With the latest ISY 2.7.15, my e-mail notification used to work and I have not modify emails/notifications setting. I'm not getting notifications after the program ran. I did further using the [Test] button at the Configuration tab, I get [-50001] Mail Server failure [AUTH LOGIN not accepted]. I rebooted ISY but did not fix it. What should be the next steps? Thanks. Billy

Michel, You had mentioned a new thermostat is coming your way to test. What is the latest on this effort? Thanks. Billy

Michel, From what you said, then my thermostat and insteon adapter are working as designed with missing data. Any plan on change the API to get the rest of the data (Fan State and Heating/Cooling Status) from the devices? If Querying it provides the missing data, why does it provide correct data when it's doing an auto polling which it shows the Fan State and Heating/Cooling Status? Thanks! Billy
-
Michel, 1. At Admin Console when query: a. Humidity shows 170% b. Heat/Cool State is blank (do not show a status) c. The rest of the other info is correct 2. At Device (non-GUI) a. All of the second line data is incorrect when query. That's: Humidity, Heating/Cooling, and Fan status Devices | Scenes | Programs | Electricity | Administrative Console Status Setpoint Mode 86.00° 68.00°(H)/85.00°© Humidity Heating/Cooling Fan 170.00% When unsolicited data are sent, they are correct. Conclusion, only when query, the data are incorrect. So when you said "you cannot query it", what is the Query bottom for? Is "Refresh" any better? Billy
-
Michel, Let me clarify. I meant when I using the Admin Console (GUI) to manually query the thermostat, not only is the humidity reading is incorrect, the Heat/Coll State is also incorrect (show blank). In most cases, the rest of the data is correct. It happens more frequently on the "Devices" option (Non-GUI). The first line shows Status, Setpoint, Mode. The 2nd line shows Humidity, Heading/Colling, and Fan. The 2nd line's data are usually incorrect or blank. I hope this helps. bktong

kingwr, Thanks for the first reply. I needed a laugh anyway and sorry for the typo. I have v2 of the Insteon adapter, too. Michel, It sounds like a bug somewhere to do a multiplier to the actual reading. Do you know whether it's the thermostat, the Insteon adapter, or ISY software that is causing it? Humidity is not the only wrong reading on ISY, other status such as Fan and Heading/Cooling status show blank. Thanks all for replying. bktong

I recently installed the T1800 Thermostat with humidity sensor. However, I keep getting 170% reading on my GUI Console and same with the Web interface. If I do query device in both cases/interfaces, it doesn't change but the actual reading on the thermostat LCD is correct. It would have to wait another automatic polling to get the right information from the thermostat to ISY. 1. Something wrong with ISY ? 2. Something wrong with the thermostat? 3. Something wrong with the humidity sensor? Thanks. bktong
-
Michel, Thanks. I guess the information I read was a bit outdated and based on V1. bktong

All, I'm thinking usages for the VenStar T1800 thermostat. I found out that the thermostat is a receiver-only device which means it can receive Insteon commands for setting the temperature. What if I want to write a program to trigger Insteon events based on the temperature on the thermostat? For example, if the temperature gets to 80, turn on ceiling fan to move the air. Can the thermostat send out data to ISY? Or Do I need to poll the thermostat every so often or constantly polling it to trigger a program? Thanks bktong

I found this link: http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... _Bathrooms Wow, I would never think it would be this complicated but I've learned a lot. Thanks. bktong

kingwr and oberkc, Thanks both. I will try setting the motion sensor to On-Only mode and give it a try again. I did some tests with the On-Only mode and I don't remember the exact results. It didn't turn off the light or the light didn't come back on when motion was re-detected. Anyways, I will try when I get home tonight. oberkc, BTW, I have a program and an X10 motion working but the between the program and the motion, the light comes on too slow. I would trip and fall off to the stairs landing before the light comes on. I thought the Insteon motion would work a bit faster but it might not because it running at the speed of the program. bktong

oberkc, Yes, I experienced the scenario you mentioned with the expiring time which cuts off/stops the program. I can program the ISY to send an Off to the "motion-sense" but it doesn't really set it to Off to the sensor. Also, I want a program to switch off the SWL at 30 seconds but if the sensor sees a motion within the 30 seconds, the SWL as gone off by the program but the sensor's status is still On. When that happens, the program does not run again because the status of the sensor didn't change even if it detects motion. Do you have the link to the wiki? BTW, this is for my staircase. It would light the staircase in the dark but I want it to only at certain period and not depend on the darkness. Besides, the 2420 sucks on the darkness setting. thanks.
