  1. Yes the GDO was disconnected, on the Garage circuit that has the 2466sw I'm trying to get working. The second Garage circuit (which has 3 CFLs and the second GDO) was shut off.completely at the garage minipanel Yes both the PLM circuit and the ISY remained powered up during my breaker testing. I actually have a dedicated circuit (2 duplex receptacles) for each "phase", supplying power for the hub of my home automation equipment. For troubleshooting purposes, I moved the PLM to one circuit and loaded the ISY and all other Insteon modules to the other circuit. This move was made when it was suggested that the PLM would operate best on it's own circuit, which I could readily apply.
  2. What is a GDO ? Nothing else on PLM circuit I'll have to get back on Insteon controlled lights. I have been upgrading CFLs to LEDs and can't remember the current status.. I'm pretty sure they are all on same circuit, so when I flipped the breaker they were not in the equation when I tested the problem.
  3. I agree that the CFLs could be a problem, but they are usually switched off.
  4. The Back Porch circuit has 7 receptacles and 2 lights (incandescent). The Garage circuit has 7 lights (3 CFLs & 4 incandescent) and 5 receptacles. The Ontario Electrical Code allows for a maximum of 12 outlets connected to a circuit, with any combination of light and plug outlets. Furthermore the Code encourages the circuit load to be a mixture of lights and plugs to achieve better load diversity and less chance of a complete blackout in case of circuit failure. In general the Garage circuit is occasionally used for opening the garage door (too much junk to park my car). The Back Porch circuit has a small refridgerator and a television The PLM has it's own circuit
  5. Well that wasn't a very happy experience. An ISY message popped up saying that all battery powered devices ( in my case a door sensor & door lock) need to be set in Programming mode (hold set button until flashing green led). I did that but then Iost communication with an in-line light switch controlled by door sensor. I finally restored ISY from recent backup, then restored PLM without pushing any set buttons, but I don't know if the door sensor & door lock where restored in PLM.
  6. I disable my little programs when testing the cross-linking.
  7. Sorry if I missed a question about PLM. It is a 2413S V1.0 0931 There is some confusion here. The paper sticker on back of PLM says V1.0, but the ISY diagnostic screen says V92 I do have 2 spare 2466sw, I'll wire them up to some extension cord and plug them in.
  8. Yes, it does not work from either switch.
  9. I agree it sounds like comm issue but I flipped every breaker in the house and the problem never improved. Maybe the noise comes from my hydro service provider.
  10. Well I have a very simple program that reads the status of both lights and has the garage lights status follow the back porch light status. I really appreciate all the help, and I did resolve a printer noise problem which would periodically disturb the nearby Insteon neighbours.
  11. See reply #25
  12. I believe there is some confusion about what I am doing. I have a 2466sw with a light in one circuit in my house (garage) and another 2466sw with a light in another circuit in my house (back porch). Each light has it's own switch, as per the diagram. There is no opportunity to use only one light, each light is independent . I am trying to get both switches to synchronize their on/off operation. If I turn on one switch, the other one follows. The scene works to turn both lights on/off together, in the computer world but they won't switch off/on together when I mechanically activate the light switch I don't believe it is electrical interference on my house wiring because I shutdown every circuit in my house except the two circuits with the lights (I unplugged everything in those circuits) and there's no change in the problem.
  13. I wonder if Insteon is up to the task I'm asking of it. For sake of clarity I have two light 2466sw switches as shown in attachment, which I'm trying to get to control each other. The problem is I'm asking too much ?
  14. I have been regularly rebuilding the scene, but I performed another Restore to no effect
  15. i've found the following from the PLM (yes it is old): A2 01 17.A7.67 02 1A 3A and A2 01 17.A8.22 02 1A 3A

  17. I hate to ask, but has anyone successfully connected two 2466sw (v.3A) as controllers in a scene with the ISY firmware 4.3.18 and UI 4.2.30. Just asking because 2466sw is not a big seller. Still working on hunting down the noise generator in my house, although not too many options left.
  18. Yes I have a Filterlinc installed on the entertainment centre in the back porch. The same circuit that has one of the 2466sw used in the problematic controller scenario. Unfortunately this did not solve my problem.

  20. Okay, I've installed the hardwired phase coupler at the electrical panel, and still no luck, with the two 2466sw both as controllers in a scene. Each switch controls it's own light but will not control the other switch. I left in place the range extenders in both circuits, which also happen to be opposite phases, to ensure good Insteon rf reception. I put in a few filterlinc (1626-10), one for an old HP3600 printer which seems to be causing noise problems (shown as bad communication with Isy). I also installed on two UPS I have. No luck yet. Where would you advise to focus my attention ? I wonder about old fridges, freezers, washing machine, dryers, infrared sauna, television, home theater system, etc.
  21. Okay, that makes more sense now, the Insteon instructions with symbols doesn't make iit easy for me. So what do the three different light patterns mean in a beacon test ? The PLM initiating the beacon test glows solid green with a beep sound every second (1) A plugged in range extender flashes green every second means the circuit is on the opposite leg and is reachable with RF ? This is a good place to install a range extender/coupler ? (2) A plugged in range extender flashes red and green every second means is on the same leg but is reachable with RF ? This is not a good place to install a coupler although some benifit may be achieved as a range extender ? (3) A plugged in range extender solid green means there is no RF contact and could be on either electrical leg ? I really need some help figuring this thing out.
  22. I bought a few 2992-222 to see if I had any communication problems between the two electrical legs. Everywhere I plugged in I got a flashing green status light with the 4 quick hit beacon test. I even got a flashing green status light when I plugged into the same circuit as the PLM The PLM is on a dedicated circuit, alone. I guess this means that I don't have any communication problems between the two electrical legs ? I'll be installing a hardwired phase coupler in the next few days, but based on results so far I don't expect any improvement in reliability. Next I'll start chasing sources of electrical noise by plugging in a few FilterLinc.
  23. I mean they are all on the same circuit, therefore also on the same electrical leg. I could split the circuit into two circuits on the opposite electrical leg.
  24. Well I did change the electrical leg that the PLM is located on and it seems to have improved the reliability of communication. I also noticed that most of my 2466sw in the entire house are in the same circuit (7 insteon 2466sw) and 1 dual band dimmer. Could this be a problem ?
  25. Yes, I executed a Run (then) on each program and the Scenes turn both lights off & on as expected. Unfortunately the both Controller scenario doesn't work either. Hence my new approach as both Responders. I guess I'll just have to wait until I get some range extenders installed to see if I have a communication problem. Thanks for checking the program logic
