  1. I've experimented with IFTTT and am able to say "Alexa, trigger family room light on" / "Alexa, trigger family room light off" / "Alexa, trigger family room lamp on" etc., I don't know the limit on the length of the phrase but for now four words e.g., "family room light off" has been enough. Jon...
  2. Well how 'bout quotes then Anyway.. when the Connected Home certification (or whatever it is) passes hopefully then we'll have longer phrases and better understanding. Jon...
  3. I wonder if this could be used with the skill in the spoken phrase section of notes? I have more than one device in almost every room and so to address them I'm unable to use e.g., family room light / family room lamp. If adding a comma indicated more were to follow and period the end then this might allow an extended phrase with the same heading. "or just quotes" Jon...
  4. Are you on using a 64bit OS? You need to download both 32 and 64 bit.. the browsers require 32 bit. You could also try clearing your Java Cache then install the Java Application version of the UI (will create a desktop icon w/ no need for browser.) Jon...
  5. Z-Wave has some nifty products.. one I like is the Aeon Labs Power Strip. Problem for me is I don't have the Z-Wave Kit (aside from the fact multi-channel isn't supported yet.) Wish Smartlabs would come up with something like this. I have a number of places I'm using an on/off module in the middle of an extension run. Jon...
  6. I don't think you can connect Mobilinc using the ISY Portal but need to connect using DDNS. Mobilinc setup offers only one password and username and you don't need to specify ports. I think there is some type of integration planned but not sure of it. Anyway.. I believe there is a rival to Mobilinc in the works. Jon...
  7. Thanks Benoit... I was having the same problem. Jon...
  8. Yes... I connect my android (galaxy S4) running Mobilinc directly to ISY via DDNS but have never used Mobilinc Connect. Jon...
  9. You don't need Mobilinc Connect but can connect directly with ISY... I've heard something about getting Mobilinc Connect integrated with the ISY Portal but don't know what's become of it. Jon...
  10. I have an iolinc plugged into an on/off module and all works well. Jon...
  11. Reason 3 = unable to communicate Looks to me your comms are bad for whatever reason (noise?) Motion sensor also has comm issues. When I add wired devices I've now developed a method of hooking it up first to a 3 wire extension cable and plugging it into the same outlet as the PLM. Jon...
  12. MWareman has a great post describing how to compose a URL for use with the portal. Basically what you need to do is log into IFTTT.com and begin creating a recipe. Use Amazon Alexa as the trigger channel and Maker as the action channel. Create the entire string in the URL field, set Get for the Method, Text as Content Type, leave Body blank then create. Voila I find Echo recognizes everything I have yet listed as a phrase. I'm still a bit leary of delays I initially experienced but at this time responses are almost immediate. Jon...
  13. An easy way to make recipes is to run Topology in ISY, open a created recipe in Maker, edit then publish with the new title and changes. Edit: be sure to delete the published recipes for those containing sensitive info. Jon...
  14. Good to hear! I was about to suggest the entire string goes in the URL Field Jon...
  15. I don't know why but now triggering IFTTT the response is almost instantaneous, just follow the closing of "sending that to it:) I guess when I initially set it up there was heavy traffic or something? Jon...
  16. MWareman gave a good example in this post.. https://<user>:<password>@my.isy.io/isy/<security_token>/rest/vars/set/<var-type>/<var-id>/<value> I used nodes and fiddled around until I found not to add the dot The error log in the portal control helps a lot. EDIT: encode @ = %40 = xxxxxx%40yyy.com Jon...
  17. I'm going thru the Portal with IFTTT and Maker Channel but find it can take from mere seconds to a full half minute to execute. What I like about it though is anything I say is recognized Jon...
  18. Welcome to your Home. You can use the ISY skill to control your devices, locks, thermostats, or programs. How can I help you? When I initially enabled the skill I wasn't receiving this introduction. I've tried disabling the skill and adding it back but now am unable to escape it every time I address Issy (alexa, open issy, alexa, tell isy, alexa ask isy.) Anyone else with this problem? <-- OR NOT?? Jon...
  19. Initially I wasn't receiving this behavior but after associating my Izzy with the word "Home" (somewhere along the lines Alexa asked for this) now I'm plagued. I've tried "Alexa, ask Issy" and "Alexa, open Issy" but I get no reprieve. Jon...
  20. How do I get the skill to stop the introduction "Welcome to your Home. You can use the ISY skill to control your devices, locks, thermostats, or programs. How can I help you?" Jon...
  21. All my devices have more than one word in the name Light Media Room, Light Foyer, Light Downstairs Hallway etc., I've changed the spoken phrase in notes for these devices and Foyer now works.. Hallway works.. buy no Media... Jon...
  22. Media seems to be a problem.. got Foyer and Hallway by filling in spoken and refreshed... Jon...
  23. I changed spoken text from media room to just media and refreshed but still didn't recognize. Jon...
  24. Filling in spoken has worked for hallway and foyer but not media room. Jon...
  25. Alexa heard: "ask izzy to turn on media room" Alexa heard: "ask izzy to turn on light media room" Seems the command was understood but possibly didn't discover it properly. Edit: The skill discovered over 100 devices so I think it got them all... I don't know how many I have Jon...
