  1. I am planning on getting a Google Home for Christmas along with Google Home Minis for most every room. To get prepared, I just installed the ISY Portal and began adding "spokens" for various lights, scenes, and programs. I was kind of assuming/hoping that by assigning devices to rooms, I could also assign Google Home Minis to rooms and say "turn on the lights", and based on which Google Mini heard me, it would only turn on the lights in that room. It sounds like that is not the case though? So if my son John is in his room and wants the lights on, he will have to say "Turn on John's lights" instead of "Turn on the lights"? Even if I have assigned everything to rooms? Also, let's say I am going to turn on multiple lights. Do I have to say "Ok, Google,,," before every command, or once I have said it once, it will continue to listen to me for a while? Thanks
  2. Well, I got it working! A small accomplishment to most men, but a huge victory for me and my limited programming knowledge! I changed the repeatcount to 3 and it works now.
  3. Here is a little more info. I am acutally using the OnControls wired-IR3, which from what I understand is baciscally a GC device repackaged for OnControls. It works fine with my OnControls system. I lean towards thinking it is a problem with the code itself, since the IR emitter is lighting up when I send a command, and since it works with the OnControls system. I also tried entering in a code that I got from the Global Cache database into the ISY network resources. So I assume that code is good. When I click the test button, the IR emitter flashes as if it received the command, and still nothing. So I don't know if it is the code or the device, or just something getting lost in translation between the ISY and IR device.
  4. I have been working on this for most of the afternoon, and am having trouble with this. I have done a few things: 1) I tried to learn the IR code using iLearn (and even tried version 2.4). I can detect the code, but as others have mentioned too, when I click "Send IR", the TV does not respond. The green light on the port of my iTach device lights up as if it is trying to send the command, but the TV does not respond. 2) I also downloaded the codes from the GlobalCache website to bypass the learning. I put it in as a Network Resource using the steps provided at the beginning of this post using \r\n at the end, so in the "Body" section I have: sendir,1:2,1,40000,1,1,96,24,24,24,48,24,48,24,48,24,24,24,48,24,24,24,48,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,1013\r\n Again, when I click "Test" through the ISY Admin Console, the light on my device lights up, and my IR emitter flashes as if it is sending a command, but the TV does not respond. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong? Tom
  5. Yep, that was it. Resolved very quickly by the UDI Sales team, and on July 4th nonetheless. Once again, incredible service from an incredible company!
  6. Not sure how much of this may be relevant, but here is the backstory. I had an ISY99 Pro with an Insteon set up. My dad had the regular ISY99 with the Elk module. I had set him multiple programs either triggering an action in the Elk, or being triggered by the Elk. Everything worked fine. I ended up upgrading to the ISY994 Pro. Shortly after that, my dad started having problems with his system. It wasn't communicating with the Elk or his Mobilinc app. To rule out the ISY, I gave him my old ISY99 Pro to upgrade him. I restored it from his backup, but it still wouldn't work. I determined it was a bad PLM and replaced the PLM. Now his system works again. The Insteon related programs all work. I can arm and disarm his Elk through the Admin console, and Mobilinc is working again. However, any program that previously had an Elk condition or action is not working. Where the Elk command used to be, it now says "Elk null null". I tried to delete those lines and re-program them, but there are no options for the Elk in the programming. What am I missing here? Is it possible that when I gave him my ISY, the Elk Module didn't transfer over?
  7. I posted this in another thread, but thought it should go here as well: I finally came up with what I feel is a working solution for an interface between my ISY and Omni panel. I use an EZIO8SA module from Simplehomenet and hardwired it to inputs and outputs on my Omni panel. I programmed individual outputs in the Omni to represent an alarm status: (Output 1 turns on when the alarm is disarmed, Output 2 turns on when the alarm is in away mode, Output 3 is turned on when the alarm is in night mode). The EZIO8SA reads those inputs, and I programmed the ISY to respond based on those inputs. Similarly, I wired a few outputs from the EZIO8SA to spare inputs on my Omni panel. I programmed the Omni to arm in a certain mode when one of those outputs is closed. I use this to arm my alarm when I leave the house by pushing a Keypadlinc button. The ISY sees the button press and closes the EZIO output that then prompts the Omni program to arm the alarm. It was actually very simple, and seems to be reliable so far (fingers crossed).

    Internet Access

Submitted a claim and this has been resolved. As I figured, stupid mistakes on my part. It can't even express how impressed I was at the prompt response, patient and curious help, and knowledge and professionalism of the gentleman that helped me. That is definitely something that is not expected these days, but greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom

    Internet Access

Ok I submitted a claim. Thanks!

    Internet Access

I'm not sure of the terminology, but it is my external IP. I do have a few other devices and Remote Desktop working from outside my network. I'm just having problems with the ISY for some reason. I probably know just enough to make me dangerous.

    Internet Access

I tried that as well. In the ISY, changed the https port to 2500 and the http port to 82 since my ISP blocks 80, and 81 is being used by another device. I followed the directions on PortForward.com to forward those points. Then I got on a computer outside of my network and entered the path https://XXX.XX.XXX.X:2500, and I got nothing. I also tried it without the "s" on https, and still nothing. I consider myself fairly computer savy, but networking is something I'm not very experienced with. Is there anythign else I am supposed to do?

    Internet Access

I have had my ISY for a few years. When I got it I enabled Internet access (I have a uPnP route), it set up perfectly. A while ago, I noticed I could not control it remotely through Mobilinc. I am thinking this is most likely due to the fact that I added a network hard drive that is also using port 443. So I went into the ISY configuration and changed the https port to 1443 per the wiki page. Now when I try to enable internet access, it keeps failing. I have updated to the latest version of the ISY, and tried to reboot it, but to no avail. Have I done something to deisable the "Enable Internet Access" function?
  13. Nevermind. I was highlighting the scene name and changing the on levels. Once I selected the controller within the scene and changed the levels there, it worked. What are the parameters when the scene name is selected used for?
  14. I have over 50 Insteon devices installed with an ISY. I am no expert, but consider myself to at least know my way around the ISY. I have many scenes set up throughout my house that work fine. However, I am running into an issue here. I'm sure it has been addressed before, but I can't find anything specifically. I just installed a new Keypad Controlling a load, a new dual-band lamplinc, a new dual-band switchlinc, and an older switchlinc in a room. I have the latest ISY firmware. I have set up different Keypad buttons to control the other switches and that works fine. I also set up a nighttime scene where I want each of the loads to turn on at different on levels, including one at on-level 0. All of my current scenes are all on or all of, but I haven't done any at varying on levels before. I set up the scene in the ISY. When I turn it on from the Admin Console on my computer, it works perfectly. However, when I press the keypad button locally, all of the loads come on at 100%. Its like the links are there, the on level parameters just didn't get written. Am I missing something obvious?
  15. Thanks. I think that will do it. Pretty obvious answer I guess I was just over complicating it in my head
  16. I want to set a program that anytime my Elk is armed in away mode, and the time is between sunset and 11:30, a light randomly turns on. Here is the program that I wrote: If From Sunset To 11:30:00PM (same day) And Elk Area 'Alarm' 'Armed State' is Armed Away Then Set Scene 'Lights' On Wait 20 minutes Wait 45 minutes (Random) Set Scene 'Lights' Off Else Set Scene 'Lights' Off The problem is that if we are home all day and have the lights on, once sunset hits, the ISY sees that the Alarm state is disarmed and initiates the else. For some reason I have having troube thinking through the logic. If I remove the else statement altogether, and we go out of town for a couple days, and that 11:30 hits, and the lights are still on. Would they turn off after the wait period even though the program conditions are no longer true? Or would they stay in their current state once 11:30 hits?
  17. I posted this over on Smarthome's forum, but thought I would try here as well. I just installed two Venstar 2491T7E's with the built in Insteon adapter. Both thermostats have a pretty considerable humming noise coming from them. It is audible from abuot 3 feet away. Anyone else experiencing this? Is this considered to be "normal"?
  18. Ok, thanks, I called them yesterday and they said that 2.1 was the current version. I'll have to call back and see if someone else will help me.
  19. So Smarthome should be swapping mine out? Or is 2.1 still supposed to be a wroking version and 2.2 is just a later version?
  20. Is the dongle version that you are mentioning the same as the Rev number on the back of the dongle? If mine says 2.1, I assume that is the newer version.
  21. This may have been asked before, but I was wondering if something was possible. Let's say I have 3 different switches that control separate lights in my kitchen including, the kitchen lights, dining table light, and island lights. Then I also have a button that is "All Kitchen" which turns on and off all three lights. Now let's say that I individually turn on all three switches. The "All Kitchen" button will still be in the off state, so if I want to use it to turn the lights off, I have to press the button twice. I guess I could write a program to where everytime I turn on one of the switches, it checks to see if the other switches are already on, and if the are, then it will turn on the All Kitchen button, but this would get pretty cumbersome for each group in my house that I have setup like that? Is there anyway to have this as a feature within the ISY that when any device is turned on, it would automatically check to see if that device is in a scene, and if so, check the status of the other devices, and if they are all on, turn on the controller to sync its state with the scene? I know the ISY already keeps track of which devices within a scene are on, so I wasn't sure if this would be too hard to implement. Anyway, Just a thought. I love the product and am very thankful for all of the support you have given me, as I know others are as well.
  22. I got it to work. Just had to disable the NAT on the modem.
  23. No, but maybe. The router is connected to a cable modem, but it is a Motorola Surfboard wireless cable modem, so maybe that acts as a router as well? Is there something I need to go in and disable?
  24. As stated in one of my other threads, I recently installed some Insteon Devices and an ISY for someone. Everything works great when accessing the ISY from the local network, but I am having trouble enabling the internet access. The client has a new Linksys E1200 with uPnP enabled. When I select Enable Internet Access for the ISY, it appears to work properly and gives me an IP address to log into, but it is a 192.168.X.XXX IP address, and doesn't work from outside the network. What is puzzling me is that I followed these same steps at my own house 6 months ago (at least as best as I can remember) with my Linksys E2500 router, and it works fine. What am I missing here? FYI, I am using the latest BETA firmware 3.1.4 for the ISY.
  25. I originally posted this in a different thread, but it was a little off topic, so I am reposting. I have several scenes that when I run a scene test a significant number of devices fail. I disable all of my programs before running the scene test. If I run the scene test five times in a row, different devices fail each time. What are my best means of troubleshooting? I have an X-10 meter (which I know is not necessarily the same for Insteon), but when I originally set up my house, I was able to use that to detect noise on the lines generated from my PCs. All but two of my 40+ devices are dimmers/switches/keypads, so it is not necessarily easy to just disconnect them. Any suggestions as a starting point?
