  1. Interesting response.....thanks! I have actually had switches fail......40 of them!!! I am not impressed (again) with theses switches if that is indeed the problem here. This is one switch I replaced in the last 6 months. Will be giving Smart Home a call.
  2. In our kitchen tonight we had a bulb burn out. It is one of a pair controlled by an Insteon switch. Now I can't get the one that works to turn off with the switch. I tried resetting the switch by pulling out the little tab and then pushing it back flush with switch. Light of course went out but came right back on when tab was pushed back flush. I pushed the tab all the way in and tried restoring the device through the ISY system but no luck. Any suggestions? The switch is pretty new. Thanks!
  3. Thanks! Are these the same steps for a switch that has already been installed and programmed? We are the second homeowners. I did something like this with 2 other switches that seemed to have regressed to thinking they were 6 button switches before. Are the two buttons you say to hold the top left and bottom right. Am thinking I remember pressing restore device instead of start linking as these already have links to all 8 buttons.
  4. I have a keypad I need to do this with, too, but forget the steps. Would someone mind posting a summary of the steps here. Thanks!
  5. Yes, we did add the new switches and then replaced the old ones with new ones carrying over all links. We did this with 40 switches with success, and this just happened to be involved with the last one we replaced. Must be Murphy's Law!
  6. We have replaced many defective switches recently using the ISY-99 system and have run across a couple of issues and hope someone can give some input. Do the load and slave switches control the designated light simply due to the wiring, or does the slave only control the light when it is linked to the load? I have one slave switch that appears to operate correctly but is not turning the light on or off. It appears to be linked to the load (links created by previous homeowner). What can we do? Have double checked all wiring though these switches were never replaced and don't see a wiring issue. Also, we have a keypad linc switch that had all the buttons working correctly before replacing some switches that were linked to to the buttons. The programming appears to still have those links, but they are not operating. Suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help! Julie
  7. Lee, I can't thank you enough for the help you gave me in replacing our switches within the ISY-99 system. Your directions were extremely clear and helpful, and we have now successfully replaced 40 defective switches! Glad to have some functioning light around here. I am sure we will be back with more questions once we have time to play around with the system. Julie
  8. Do I need to wire the switch before adding it to the system and then clicking the old system and replacing with.....?
  9. The switches I have are all brand new just shipped from SmartHome. We have 36 of these switches that are defective in our house! The old switches we have are version 3.2 or older and fell under the extended warranty. Looks like we have V 2.7.0 for the ISY softwar. It says at the top that 2.8.16 is now available, however, we have been hesitant to update until we are confident we know how to use what we have and not wipe anything out in the update. Julie
  10. One other thing I forgot to ask.... When I choose the switch, I am not seeing 2876DB as a device type, which is what my new switches are. I do see 2876D3 which is what the program shows for the old switches(though their label shows 2876DB, too). Is my software version not up to date to show this 2876DB? J~
  11. Last question, hopefully, though I know I will probably be back. As I am adding the new switch I am getting 3 options : * Remove Existing Links. * Add Devices Found in Links and Remove Existing Links. * Add Devices Found in Links and Keep Existing Links. Am I assuming correctly that this is referring to any links that might be found to the switch I am replacing? And I assume I should click the 3rd option to keep links with any other switches and programs? Thanks so much! Julie
  12. Thanks for your input! All but one or two switches appear to be integrated into the system we took on with the home purchase. I don't think those two are linked into any programs. Can we just add those two switches as new devices and have them up and running thar way? And are two way switches any different or will the load and slave automatically transfer with replace with...? Thanks! Julie
  13. Hi, Our home has many 2876DB - ICON Dimmer Switches and a few 2476D - SwitchLinc-INSTEON Dimmer Switches that have been deemed defective. We just received the new switches and are looking to replace the defective ones using the ISY 99 system. This system and switches were already in the home when purchased so we are pretty new to using everything. Can someone tell me if my interpretation of instructions is correct? I believe we have to add the new switch to the software and then can just click on the old switch and then click replace with....the new switch. Is it really that easy? We are keeping our fingers crossed and appreciate your input! Thanks!
  14. My husband and I bought a new home in which the previous owner had installed all insteon switches. We are able to access the programming for it and understand how to make changes. However, we have MANY switches that just don't seem to work. Some were working and then just stopped. Do we need to replace the switches? How do we troubleshoot these? A lot of this terminology is foreign to us. Thanks for your help.
