  1. MrBill - thanks for getting on this subject right away. I guess I wasn't clear, but yes I'm selecting the old device then replace with and the new in line dimmer isn't showing up., and they are both in the main "Devices" folder. The ISY shows the lightbulb icon for the old dimmer and I guess it's a keypad (?) for the new one. Interestingly, when I select on the new in line dimmer in the ISY and then replace with - my lamp links show up as available devices. And vice versa, when I select any of my lamp links the new In Line Dimmer shows up as an available device for 'replace with' perhaps this is because of the addition of ON and OFF buttons to the In Line Dimmer?
  2. My old in line dimmer (2475D) went bad, it couldn't be shut off. I physically replaced it with a new In Line Dimmer v 44 and added the new dimmer to the devices on my ISY. I am able to control the new dimmer through my ISY but it does not show up as an available device when selecting to replace the old In Line Dimmer V 33. Am I missing something or is this option not available between these two devices for some unfortunate reason?
  3. Ive seen referenced here in the forum that the required voltage of the power supply ranges from 5-30 vDC, I may remember that being the case for the 99i, and somebody references that the new owners manual states the same, however I only saw mention of 5vDC in the new manual, and I'm not about to burn up my ISY by following something said by anyone here on the forum other than UDI employees. So, is there a voltage range for the power supply, what is it, and what is the required current ? I'm hoping to power most of my low voltage devices with a single 12vDC power supply where possible.
  4. Thanks Tom C. I used this to solve my same problem!
  5. Lee, you referred to the remotelinc2, then sort of corrected yourself. Does the ISY support the new remotelinc 2?
  6. I can't specifically say whether what you want is possible or not, since I have neither Roku nor Google TV. But, I do control my TV's, WHA system, and DirecTV boxes with my ISY, all control is handled via the network module, and it works great. Control is handled via three different types of communication, TV's via IR, WHA receiver via RS-232 (serial), and DirecTV boxes via IP, so that being said, there's many avenues of control available, one of which someone could assume would be capable of communicating with the subject devices. In addition to needing the network add-on mudule for the ISY, you'll need hardware for IR or serial communication, Global Cache makes devices for both, but if you're looking to control more than one device with serial, I'd suggest trying to pick up a used portserver on eBay.
  7. I've successfully used username:password@networkaddress:port to call upon my ISY from the iRule app
  8. I'm currently using the iRule app to control all lighting through my ISY and it works very nicely with one exception. Feedback. Upon issuing a query (node specific) it takes about 8 seconds for iRule to interpret the returned info. I know the delay is within iRule because the feedback returns almost instantly when queried from a webpage. Others using iRule and a PLM directly, without an ISY, reportedly get their feedback instantly. I was hoping to install my port server between my ISY and PLM (apparently digi port servers allow for serial devices to intercommunicate over a network) making my PLM directly accessible by iRule. Does anyone know if this might be possible?
  9. Found it! http://192.168.1.2/rest/status returns status of each node
  10. Thanks for your patience and excellent help! I'll have to use the info in your last post, the previous query works, but doesn't return the device address, which wouldn't work on a GUI that's intended to show multiple statices. In any case I think I have it now, the only thing I'd like to see differently, would be a query that returned multiple addressed statices, but I don't think that exists. Anyway, thanks again for all your help, now I have to ask, Who pays you?!
  11. rest/nodes/10008/cmd/DON returns <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>200<? I had missed some of the return code in my previous post
  12. I did as you said and looked at the event viewer. It did help me gain a little more of an understanding as to how things operate with the ISY, however it didn't help me progress any with what I'm trying to accomplish. What I did discover, and maybe it really doesnt tell much, because regardless of the command I sent from the app I'm using, or status of any device, what I got in response " <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> " doesn't change
  13. I successfully use a third party app (iRule) to control my lights. A new release of this app now allows reporting of feedback and I'd love to incorporate this into my GUI. How does the ISY report the current status of devices (what is the format or coding)? For example if the on level of a device (0A.23.45) is presently 85 (out of the 0-255 range) what does the ISY send?
  14. I'm having some communication issues with my latest installation, and I'm hoping that by installing an additional dual band device I might be able to correct it. My question is, Can I use the replace device option within the ISY to replace an older SLD with the latest dual band SLD?
  15. Well, it seems kind of obvious now, and it's certainly hindsight, despite how fortunate I've been only losing a handful of devices to a few different power surges over the years, I've finally decided to get a whole home surge protector. Had one been installed in the system were discussing, well, we probably wouldn't be discussing it. At around $200 it's a small amount to pay for the insurance to protect ALL electrical devices in your house, not just the automation based equipment. I recently lost a GFI plug end on my 220V Air conditioner in addition to a SLD, I'm thinking I'm real lucky it was just the plug and not the AC that took the hit. Anyway, just some advice, I'm sure plenty of you out there have a significant amount of money invested in electrical devices / equipment.
  16. Because the Venstar T-stats don't really seem to be for hydronic heat (especially radiant) I've expanded on my search for a thermostat to integrate with my ISY controlled Insteon system. I also have the network module and a portservernow so now I'm considering 1) HAI  2 RC-1000 [looks like it fits my bill pretty well, but the serial protocol is a little difficult for me to follow, and I can't seem to figure out the commands that I'm looking for] 2) Control by Web X-300 [looks like the easiest to program, using network communication, but lacks a hardware interface (ALL control must be via network)] and 3) Proliphix  IMT350 [i think the most appealing of the three, except that, and this is a biggie, I don't think they share the protocol, so while I could relatively easily communicate through it's web interface, direct communication via my ISY would not be possible] Any and all comments, suggestions, explanations and or relative tangents are appreciated.

    All Lights Off

I think most here may have missed the obvious when you said this. So let me ask, do all the loads go off with your all off scene? A KPL button (other than the load controlling ones, either the top button on a 6 button KPL, or top left on an 8 button KPL) will not go off with the devices it controls. They need to be added to the all off scene individually. If you're expecting them to go off as a response to synching programs (some people here create scenes and programs specifically so KPL buttons track the status of devices or scenes) it's possible that there's simply too much PLC traffic taking place when you press the all off button. I've had similar problems with KPL buttons properly tracking statices, adding a delay in these synching programs by a second or two, some at 0, some at 1 second, and others at 2 second delays took care of this issue for me, granted, it takes two seconds before ALL KPL buttons turn off, but the lights still all go off with the button press.
  18. Hey, wasup io? I should've figured you to have a port server back when we were talking GC components. I've got it all working pretty well now thanks for the earlier help.
  19. For what it's worth, I got mine on eBay foe under $100, of course it was a little bit of a dice roll, but it all worked out.
  20. Digi Portserver TS 16 - it along w/ a Global Cache IP2IR gives me control over my AV equipment. My ALL OFF scene also shuts off DirecTV STB's, TV's and Audio, I also have a scene that just shuts down my basement, the kids are notorious for leaving TV and lighhts on.
  21. Just an update, the tekmar automation controller is $1,400 (retail) so it won't be getting hooked up in my house.
  22. Brian, I'm already using the network module and a portserver for serial communication from the ISY, so that part wouldn't be an issue. While the ISY can interface w/ serial devices, this doesn't mean it will necessarily work with the Tekmar interface (or maybe it does?) but just because the interface is serial certianly doesn't eliminate the possibility of it working. I think it might just be a matter of programming. And I'm not locked into the Tekmar units either, just thought because I like their product line..... I was hoping someone out there might also be able to point me in an alternative direction, I always like to have a few options to examine before making a decision.
  23. My whole home is all hydronic radiant heat and I'm looking to add control to my ISY. Can anyone recommend a thermostat? Because it's radiant, and not baseboard or forced air, the thermostats utilize a floor sensor in addition to a room temperature sensor. I've been looking for a while and waiting for something to come to market, but haven't found anything yet that will definitely work with my ISY. The closest I've seen is tekmars interface, which initially intrigued me since I already have some of their thermostats, but it doesn't work with the particular models I have, though I would consider changing them out. Now my bigger question is does anyone think this http://tekmarcontrols.com/automation.html integratable with the ISY? The webpage lists several systems that it works with, Insteon or ISY is not one of them, but it just seems to me that if it works with all these other why, or HOW not with ISY?
  24. I did it! Puting the gap setting @ 3 was the trick. I tried doing this before, but it didn't work, I think the difference is that you have to set the gap setting at 3 BEFORE you try learning the signal. Thanks for the help.
  25. I have not upgraded the routers firmware. If I reboot the router, and then try to enable internet access again, then what about the settings I entered using the telnet shell, do they need to be set back to whatever they were, or does it not matter? I have no objection to doing a manual port forward, it just seems that I'm not capable. Funny, I'm not really much of a computer guy, but have sucessfully set up the network module to turn off my DirecTV boxes, thought I'm unable to do the, what I'm under the impression should be simple, task of mamnual port forwarding.
