  1. I cecrtianly don't want to disable thhe modules, the Network Module is a great tool and already has enhanced my controls. I guess you are right, as far as the chain of events goes. It just seems strange, that up until that day, I had internet access. What could've changed anywhere that now the ISY doesn't get an IP address from the router?
  2. Why can my ISY no longer get an IP from my router? It wasn't an issue before the Network Module install. I tried the port forwarding, but the website doesn't have my model, It's an Actiontec M1424WR rev D, they have versions close to this listed, and I looked at the three of them, but wasn't able to complete the task. I telneted to the ISY, and entered the IP, SNM, DNS & Gateway information as directed in the wiki, but I guess that's irrelevant based on my inability to accomplish the port forwarding. Is there any other way? I'll do some more investigation on my router to see if I can't get better instructions, but was hoping there might be another way.
  3. I've tried the remote central hex codes in the GC conversion program, it's the same situation, trying to correctly fine tune for a reliable signal that works consistently. I do know that there is existing 'code' somewhere that works, I have iRule sending commands to my GC and they work like a charm, they're short in length too (some people have suggested increasing the number of repeats but then you could have a really long signal duration which I don't really think would be optimal) but the 'code' is not shown, I'm guessing it 'lives' hidden somewhere in the software. I'm hoping to get the people at iRule to share.
  4. Got the GC IP2IR, and ISY network module. I already have the ISY controlling my DirecTV boxes via network control (shuts them down w/ all off scene), but am having some trouble learning functioning commmands for Sony TV w/ the GC unit. I'm getting a data string that, with some editing of the settings in the IR learn software, I can get to work the majority of the time, but a little more than half of the time just isn't what it should be. Does anyone have reliable Sony TV commands they can share, or help me out with the right settings so I can get the learned codes to work on my own?
  5. I have 2 DirecTV HR-22 receivers, they're High Def DVR models (black), they have ethernet connections on the back, not only does the ethernet connection allow me control via the ISY, but also gives me the ability to watch recordings on the other receiver.
  6. Thanks for the help Michel, I've sucessfully installed both modules, and the network module is working great, I'm already using it to control my DirecTV sattelite boxes. I do however have one problem, somehow apparently, I've lost internet access. I tried disable/enable internet access, but it just ends up yeilding 0.0.0.0 for HTTPS. Nothing has changed with regard to my router. I haven't rebooted the ISY, I'm not sure if I should or not.
  7. I'm just about ready to delve into the programming side of the ISY, I've gained a little self confidence after using REST commands from my iRule app to control lighting, now I'm looking to issue IR commands from my ISY to my GC IP2IR Right now, however, I'm unable to purchase the Network Module. As far as I know, I've never purchased it, or the X/10 A/10 experimental module either, but when I go to purchase the Network Module, it shows a purchase date for the two, and thus the 'add to cart' option is unavailable. What do I do?
  8. I just got the iRule app working with my ISY99, and am loving it! I bought it, and a GC IP2IR (still waiting for the GC to be delivered) instead of a think flood RedEye. I thought it would give me more options, and it already has, now that I'm controlling the ISY w/ just the app portion alone. IMO it really is worth whatever extra effort there might be, being able to create your own GUI is a wonderful thing! REST commands are simple and straight forward, and setting up the 'gateway' is simple once you know what to do.
  9. Thanks guys, Looks like I'll be purchasing the GC IP2IR, along w/ the Xantech adapter. My first priority is to set up the GC unit as a remote extender, using an iPod touch, and iPad along w/ the iRule app and iRule builder (they call it a 'free' app, but you need to purchase the $50 'builder' for it to serve any purpose), I decided to go this route, over the ThinkFlood RedEye, because now, I'll also have the option of being able to incorporate the IR controls into my ISY / Insteon controls, when I'm feeling up to what will probably be a sizeable task for me. I'll try to remember to keep everyone posted.
  10. io_guy, what kind of repeater system are you using, I've read that an adapter is required for hooking up the GC units to Xantech repeaters and was wondering if you were using Xantech, and if you needed this adapter. Also, what your programming experience if any, I can handle following instructions, cutting and pasting etc. but am NOT a programmer, and don't want to dive into something I'll have no chance of success with.
  11. Michel, I currently have a KPL button set to controll whether or not certian programs are allowed to run it's basically a 'vacation' button, if it's on, then a series of timed programs in a conditional folder run. The button itself really doesn't control or respond to any other device. What would I do in this instance? Set up a scene with only this button in it?
  12. I disabled then enabled internet access again, no change. What's also odd is local wireless access works w/ my laptop, but not I-pod touch.
  13. Successfully completed the update, and everything seems OK, except for remote access. I can access isy from my laptop through WLAN, but can't access it w/ my i-pod touch, I checked the links and they're the same, I guess it's the i-pod. Also can't get internet access working, checked dyndns on my router and it says updated successfully.
  14. Thanks Michel, Your records are correct. I don't have the mentioned adaptor cable. I've sent the e-mail you requested.
  15. Please excuse my ignorance. I will not say I don't have what I don't know about, and that said, sets up my saying I don't know. Not running much of a network, I have a relatively new laptop computer, and a WAP/router, the isy connects to my router. Port B, is that the serial port? My laptop doesn't have any serial or parallel ports just 1 USB, though maybe there's something I'm missing?
  16. I can't telnet to the isy. When I try to, it gets as far as the command prompt saying "connecting to 192.168.1.100...." then the screen disappears

    ISY bricked!

So, about 2 weeks after resolving a TON of insteon issues (hunting down ghost links, removing adding devices, recreating scenes, etc. etc.) my isy just died! The red error light flashes slowy, the PWR, RX and TX green lights remain light, and the green MEM is off. No programs run, I can't telnet to it, when trying to log on through local access, my browser "can't display webpage" and when trying to access through the UDI link I get "Socket open failed java.net connect exception: connection refused no further information" I tried disconnecting/reconnecting it, and the reset button, but nothing changes. What next?
  18. What I've experienced myself after removing a device is the name in the program changing to "not specified" (or something like that) This even happens when I 'replace' a device using the isy. It would be nice for the 'replace device' to also include the replacement of it in programs and not just scenes.
  19. In a previous post of how to's, I explained how I was using folder conditions to create addressable IR commands, essentially 'saving' button space on my remote, see http://forum.universal-devices.com/view ... highlight= which has worked great, but I've reached my limit w/ single digit addresses, and now in my attempt to go to double digit addresses, am having a bit of a problem. I've created a few conditional folders, named 'tens' 'twenties' and 'thirties' which allow programs in those folders to run when 'IR 1', 'IR 2', and 'IR 3' are pressed, then created subfolders under each, which are essentially the same in nature. The theory behind this is: for address 11, the first press of '1' allows the 'access' to programs in its subfolder, then a second press of '1' will allow a tertiary level of programs to run. The problem I'm running into is that a single press of '1' allows access to the tertiary level of programs, as if it was pressed twice. I've thought hard about where or how to insert a delay via 'wait' say for 1 second but haven't been able to come up w/ anything. my program tree looks like this IR address 'tens' If IR '1' is Pressed Then Wait 8 seconds Run Program 'IR address 'tens'' (Else Path) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Folder Conditions for 'IR tens' Add conditions to limit when programs in this folder are allowed to run. If Program 'IR address 'tens'' is True And IR '1' is Pressed Then Allow the programs in this folder to run. A single press of '1' qualifies the second level of programs as true, but why? Does anyone have any ideas?

    Bad Modem?

Well, that's some bad news. Thankfully you guys at UDI aren't dropping bombs on us as well. I seem to have worked through most of the communication issues I was having, though I seem to have lost a SLR and KPLD. I'll blame it on myself for cycling through circuits. Now, I just hope I won't have programming issues when I finally get my replacements. I guess my definition of any good insteon system includes having 1 extra of each component.

    Bad Modem?

Nope, guess I need to get me some access points! I added an outletlinc which I understand is i2, but no motion detectors or other newly introduced device types. But is it possible that a newer KPL is i2 as well? Even so, would that cause communication issues w/ older existing and properly functioning devices?

    Bad Modem?

SignaLincs, not Access points, flash only when they should w/ normal insteon communications, same for the PLM. The signaLincs are still on the two different phases of my service, can't imagine them needing to be relocated Still having a host of issues. It's really bizzare to me,One example isthat one SLD "S1" controlls another "S2" as it should, but also now turns on "S3" only w/ a double tap, turns off "S3" w/ single press off, but nothing happens w/ "S3" w/ a single press on of "S1". Unfortunately, like I said this is only one example
  23. I can't speak much for the x-10 device you refer to, but I imagine using the right contacts with the insteon I/O linc would work. http://www.smarthome.com/2450/I-O-Linc- ... ut-/p.aspx
  24. I erroneously restored my ISY w/o exporting my programs. After rebooting, w/ a recent back-up, I imported programs that were exported a few months ago. I've been working through a host of linking issues, AND editing programs as necessary. It seems that for whatever reason, device and scene names in some programs have changed. My questions are: What are the programs actually referring to when they read a device name? Do they refer back to the device names or are the addresses associated w/ those names already embedded in the programs at the time of exporting. I ask this because between the two different dates of the Back-up and the exporting of programs, devices have been moved and renamed. I wish I could remember which formerly named device moved to where, but I don't, so I can't even be sure if this is the issue, I'm just searching for an explanation, and hoping to resolve some of the 'bizzare' issues that I'm having.
  25. bright sunlight and plasma or LCD TV's can all cause IR interference, is yyur ISY reasonably isolated from all?
