  1. Thanks.
  2. Factory reset worked. Thanks. Now, another question. Is there a way to do a batch review of the device links tables, comparing them to the ISY table? It's tedious going device by device.
  3. I recently replaced my PLM due to its failure. Under warranty and graciously replaced by SmartHome. I took the opportunity to perform diagnostics on the system once the new PLM was up and running. By way of background, I am running a 994i v 4.1.2 and have about 85 devices (5 of which are KeyPadLincs). Here's the issue. I have two banks of recessed lights in the basement, each controlled by a ToggleLinc individually and by a scene called "Basement lights". When I run the Device Links Table on one of the ToggleLinc's (17.E7.FF) and do a compare to the ISY Table, I get a "Record Mismatch" pointing to a device (17.E8.DF) that is not in my network. I have done multiple "Restore Device" on the 17.E7.FF TogggleLinc and continue to get the record mismatch. When I run the Device Links Table on the other ToggleLinc (1A.8F.98) in the scene and compare it to the ISY Table, I get a "Record Mismatch" pointing to the first ToggleLinc (17.E7.FF). Thoughts?

    PLM Link Counts

Thanks. I was running it last night (kids' bedtime) with a lot of stuff going on/off. I have run it a couple times this morning remotely with no one in the house and am consistnely getting a 401 count.

    PLM Link Counts

When I run the PLM link table function, I seem to get different counts for the number of links on my network. Why would that be?
  6. Thanks. Will try that and report back.
  7. I attached an I/O Linc (the device is named "Alarm System Siren") to my burglar alarm system such that when the alarm siren is active it closes a circuit tied to the I/O Linc, thus turning the I/O Linc on. I have a program set up so that when the "Status of Alarm System Siren is On" it sets the scene "House Lights" (which are essentially all the lights in the house) to on. The program then waits 30 minutes and then sets "House Lights" to off. Here's my issue. Today we were out of the house and the wind blew a door open, triggering the alarm. This happened at noon. I received a call from the security monitoring company (and an email from my ISY thanks to another program I set up to notify me of alarms). Within 5 minutes the police arrived and determined it was not an issue, just the wind. I remotely shut off the alarm (via another app). At 1 PM I checked the status of the ISY via my phone and all the house lights were still on. I manually shut them off. So, my question is why didn't the ISY shut them off? I checked the log and the events turning things on are as they should be. At noon the Alarm System Siren was set to On and the ISY dutifully sent me an email and turned the house lights on. At 12:05, when I remotely shut off the alarm, I see in the log that the Alarm System Siren was set to Off. But, there was no command at 12:30 to set House Lights to Off. The next entry is 1 PM when I manually set that scene Off. By my turning off the alarm system, and therefore setting the I/O lince Alarm System Siren to Off somehow end the program, thus leaving the House Lights scene on? If so, what's the suggested fix? Many thanks in advance.
  8. Awesome. I've ordered two and will wire them in. Not sure of the size, but am planning on putting into a junction box. BTW, does anyone's wife think they're nuts for doing all this?
  9. I have a couple 12v cabinet light circuits, each run off independent transformers. I have added on/off insteon switches to control the power to the transformers. When one of the circuits is on, it is apparently creating noise that screws up other insteon devices in the circuit vicinity (i.e. they will not respond to ISY commands). So, my question is will the ACT-AF300 filter help in reducing the noise and hopefully cure the problem on the Insteon network (http://www.smarthome.com/4846/ACT-AF300 ... ter/p.aspx)? The product description references X-10, but not Insteon. Thanks.
  10. I first did a restore from the ISY and then did a factory restore at each device (pulled the tab out under the switch).
  11. I have two seperate circuits where the load is controlled by a two wire switch and there are a few other standard three wire switches linked to the two wire. Everything was working perfectly until we had a power outage the other day. I got error messages that the ISY was unable to communitcate with each of the two wire devices. Also, the linked switches no longer controlled the two wire devices. The two wire devices worked locally in that they were able to turn the lights on and off (although they did not control the linked switches). I turned off the breakers to the affected circuits and no luck. I unplugged the ISY and PLM and no luck. I then did a resotore on each of the two wires and no luck. Ultimately I removed and then re-installed/re-linked the devices and they are working fine. Thougths?
  12. I've hooked an I/O Linc up to my burglar alarm siren output (using a dry relay). I set up a program to turn on a bunch of interior lights if the buglar alarm trips. Now, I'd like to set up a program that flashes my exterior lights (front & side doors and lights on driveway piers) on an off for 20 minutes after the alarm trips and then sets them to on. I created a scene called "Exterior Alarm Lights" and set up a program whereby the lights turn on for 3 seconds then off. I put a "repeat" after the off statment and set the repeat at 200 times. After the Repeat I set the "Exterior Alarm Lights" scene on. Will this work? I notice the command to set the "Exterior Alarm Lights" on is indented under the Repeat. Is the Repeat in the correct spot? Thanks.

    Upgrade PLM

    Thanks Lee.

    Upgrade PLM

I recently upgraded to the 994i but did not upgrade my PLM (it's a 2412). Is there merit in upgrading to the 2413 as far as speed/dependability. I am not having problems with the 2412. I have read on the forum of reliabiltiy issues with the 2413. Should I leave well enough alone?
  15. Thanks Michael. I agree and will remove. But, there's a little more to the story. I was talking to my 8 year old this morning and it turns out he was in the garage and pressed the "Entire House On" button on a KPL out there and then repeatedly pressed "Off" and "On", which sounds like it may have set the loop problem in motion. That KPL is a controller for a scene entitled "Entire House". After looking at the log, the interesting thing is there is no indications that the scene "Entire House" was ever turned on or off, just the devices in the scene show up. I ran a test this morning turning the Entire House scene On and Off with that KPL and checked the log - same thing. Devices showed up as on or off, but not the scene. Any thoughts? Seems like the scene itself should show up.
  16. OK Michael, I think you're on to something. Indeed, after reviewing the log, the scene "Basement Lights" was being turned on and off by a Program. A little more background. I have two banks of recessed lights in the basement ceiling. At the bottom of the steps there is a switchlinc that controls each bank independently (Bank 1 and Bank 2). I have both of the banks as responders to a scene enttiled "Basement Lights". At the top of the steps there is single switchlinc that controls the "Basement Lights" scene. I think straight forward thus far. I wrote a couple of programs to do the following. The first says if Bank 1 and Bank 2 are Off, then set Scene Basement Lights Off. The second says if Bank 1 and Bank 2 are 100%, then set Scene Basement Lights 100%. It sounds like some type of conflicting loop was created. Perhaps I need to add some waits in the program so the devices can properly report out their status? Also, I noted in many of my programs instead of a simple "on" in the then statement, when creating the program the software would put in 100%. I have since gone thru and updated each of my programs to be a simple "on".
  17. I had another bout of bizarre activity again this morning. Was at work and the wife called to say the basement lights were turning on and off every second or so. I had her go to the breaker box and shut off the circuit to those lights, but when she powered it back up they were still flicking on and off. I then had her unplug the ISY and the PLM and plug them back in and everything was fine. I checked the log and here's what I found. But first a little background. I have a scene called "Entire House" which includes essentially all the light switches throughout the house. I can can control it thru a couple of KPL's (one at the entry door from the garage and one on either side of the bed. I also have a program that turns the "Entire House" scene on for 30 minutes if an I/O Linc connected to my burglar alarm is actviated). Reviewing the ISY log, here's what I found. At 11:22:16 AM today the garage door was opened and the I/O Linc tied to its sensor turned off. 11 seconds later - at 11:22:27 AM - all of the devices in the "Entire House" scene that weren't already on were turned on. The scene itself was not turned on, just the devices in the scene. One second later all the devices in the "Entire House" scene were turned off. This occured alternatively until 11:22:31 when it stopped, leaving the devices off. Remember, the "Entire House" scene was not turning on & off, only the devices in it. At that point, a scene entitled "Basement Lights" was turned on and off alternately every second until I had the wife pull the plug on the ISY. Thoughts?
  18. Thank you Michael. I do indeed have an I/O Linc that checks the status of my rain sensor. I have few irrigation programs that check the status of the I/O Linc and if "off" (i.e. it hasn't rained) will run. I have a KPL that allows me to manually turn irrigatation zones on/off and the KPL is in the scene for the programs mentioned above (i.e. the "Side Yard" key lights up if the program has triggerd the Side Yard irrigation scene to run. Nothing though with backlighting. I will nonetheless add "wait". How long of a period should I add?
  19. I updgraded to the ISY994 a few months ago and all has been working well until last evening when I noticed several lights in and out of the house were set "on" apparently randomly. I logged into the ISY and the scenes were not turned on, just individual devices within some scenes (for example, I have four pier lights on one scene controlled by two individual inline lincs and one of inline lincs (controlling two exterior lights) was on and the other off. There are no switches on the circuit - the only way the scene can be turned on is via the ISY.). In this particualr case, both inline lincs are on the same circuit (i.e. the same stab from the breaker box). I had several other examples of this occur last night. The ISY showed the devices to be on, but not the scenes. I checked the log and there was no indication of the devices or related scenes being turned on. In any case, I did an "all off" from the ISY (scaring my kids b/c it was dark out!) and then unplugged the ISY and PLM and re-plugged them in. All seems to be working fine now. Any thoughts on what appears to be a random event?

    wet contact

Thanks. I posted on the SmartHome Forum and received the same advice. That's what I'll do.

    wet contact

Is there a wet contact version of the I/O Linc available? I am trying to interface my existing Napco alarm to my ISY994 and the Napco is configured with a 24v wet contact. I can re-configure the Napco and turn the contact into a dry contact, but it will take soem work by my installer (i.e. time and $) and I may loose some functionality on how the system signals different types of alarms (burglary vs. fire).
  22. Got it working - thanks!!
  23. Thanks Michael. Apologies for being a bit dense, but should I then insert XXX.dnsalias.org as the Host Name when I create the certificate? Also, does it matter what I input as Org., Org. Unit, Locality, State and Country or should I use the values in the example on page 8 of the guide? I did use Key Strength 2048. Thank you.
  24. Where do I find the "common name" for the certificate? I self created a certificate with an issuer and host name of 192.168.1.104 (i.e. the IP address of the 994 on my network). The https port I use (with port fowarding) is 6700. The URL I use to remotely access is: https://XXX.dnsalias.org:6700/web/index.htm (where XXX is my alias name, redacted for this forum). I think what you are instructing is the URL has to match something in the certificate. If so, what in the certificate? Thank you.
  25. I too am trying to figure out the self signed cert process. It seems that even after creating a self signed cert and adding it to my remote computer's Trust Cert folder I continue to get the warning message. I am directing my remote computer's browser to the old (99i) address. Do I need to direct it to a different suffix? Presetnly I am using https://mydnsalias:secure port number. Is this the problem? Is the old admin counsel obsolete and replaced with the new one? The old one seems to work fine.
