  1. now how do you connect a standard serial (is it a dsub9?) to the rj45? Question to the OP, do you have an existing irrigation system or are you installing new? Curious if this is a reasonable DIY project.
  2. Michel, I sent you a PM. Lee has described the problem in detail in this and other threads. The device just requires a longer message delay for scene writes else it implodes and requires complete reset.
  3. I did not have it on a circuit with other insteon devices, so that might change things. I had a pile of extension cords in the basement so I just linked them all end to end there. This is still a workaround that shouldn't be necessary.
  4. 200 feet didn't do anything either, but Lee's alternate solution worked on the first try. It IS software correctable, and SHOULD be corrected in the device driver code within the ISY so one doesn't have to do a manual workaround. How many years has this problem existed?
  5. 100 additional feet of wire did nothing. still can't add scenes. This has to be software correctable if the ISY is just sending links too fast.
  6. I read your advice previously and so thus mentioned using an extension cord (to add wire feet). The PLM and morning linc are already as far apart as possible in the house, and on different phases.
  7. repeated attempts yield same result. I will try with a 50 or 100 foot extension cord.
  8. Actually, I guess adding to a scene broke everything. I deleted, reset, readded, tested (passed), added to scene, tested (failed)
  9. The program for the lock still works, but I can't get a button on a keypad linc to work in a scene. It shows up in ISY status as working (device toggles in status). So, I checked, and my device is showing FF code on diagnostics. How did the PLM lose authority? I installed it correctly with a reset. How often am I going to have to do this?
  10. This needs to be explained somewhere in easily located FAQ or wiki material. Either the Wiki search doesn't work or this important info is missing.
  11. Yes, I had indeed done that. Good call! My thinking was that if someone was using the bathroom I wouldn't want to interrupt. As it turns out it isn't relevant since I am using a timer for any On event. I think I will change it though to turn back on after an off, so I can time it from vacancy not occupancy.
  12. Is the "else Off" logic required? I was having a problem where my switch would immediately turn off after being manually turned on. Removing the else from the timer program for that switch eliminated the phantom shut down.
  13. So now my fan button is effectively a 20 minute timer, triggered by button or light activation. Not ideal, but better than nothing. Thanks for the explanation.
  14. Well that sounds like a solution for the fans at least. I will need to think about the floods. I wanted local control at the pole the floods are mounted on, for just that light, and the motion detector to turn on all the other floods as well if the local switch hasn't been turned on. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Back to the other. Can the ISY know when the Off command is attempted from the sense line after a Fast On? I'm guessing not since there would be no reason for the switch to broadcast a local command. But if that is the case, how would I know the On was sent to begin with? Are local On commands broadcast? or is it a status change thing?
  15. Can I write a program to look for On, and then send a Fast On from ISY to disable the off that comes from the sense line? (I assume yes) In that case, if someone manually turned it on, it would still be replaced by fast on, but they could still manually turn it off, right? I can set a timer when I send the Fast On, to later send the fast off?
  16. Ugh. Is there any way to distinguish at all? Can I program the local button to do fast on/off? This must be why the inlinelincs are preferable to the switch, if you have to use another controller to distinguish the on/off type. @!^&@$ Would it be against code to stick the switch in a box like an inline? Would it function if i took the button plate off?
  17. So, I was under the impression I could see the sense input as an event in the ISY, but I can't find it in the interface and there is no mention in the manual, wiki or forum that I can find. How do I use it? I have a conventional light switch (guest bathroom) attached to the sense input of the fan switch for that room, and want to modify the turn off time. The fan comes on when the light does, so the switch is receiving sense input. How do I distinguish? I intended to use these in all of my bathroom fans, and some flood lights as well. Hoping I didn't waste money on the switches. They are a pain to fit in to boxes due to all the bulky wiring.

  19. How is an 8 button with the load as main different from a 6 button with the load as main? (I know, 2 buttons!)
