  1. (I found the log, now I just need to switch to a system with excel macro support or such ...)
  2. Thanks. The thing about coverage and communication though is that the three sensors are 10-15-20 feet line of sight in the same open space, no walls, line of sight to the two dual band lamplincs. The two lamplincs are plugged in on the sidewall where the living and dining room meet. This to me represents best case coverage ... as when they go outside it will be long range. This morning, I thought I was in good shape with no lights on, but the ISY says the lamplincs are on, turns out my wife unplugged the lights in the middle of the night as they remained on??? How do I diagnose / log what goes on? Maybe with one sensor... Current copy of the program: If -( | Control 'M1-Sensor' is switched On | Or Control 'M2-Sensor' is switched On | Or Control 'M3-Sensor' is switched On -) And Program 'Motion Detected' is False Then Set Scene 'Motion Response' 100% Else Wait 1 minute Set Scene 'Motion Response' Off
  3. Excellent, will add. Thanks for the near instant response!!! PS: The 35 default is said in the wiki, will change units to 100
  4. One sensor seems dead, wore the factory battery out already? Current sensor settings timeout 1 minute led brightness 50 darkness 35 sensing V checked, as sensed on only V checked, on/off commands night mode [] unchecked, night only I do notice that after a single detection blink, sensors will blink rapidly (20 times ?) in 10 sec. Haven't found yet what that is about.
  5. Thanks for the replies. The good news is, that when I got home tonight, that the lights in the test setup were off, and have come on and off with detection, and timed off. Based on the reply of my darkness setting, maybe that is what is the issue. I thought I read in some place that 35 was the default. Maybe incorrect or outdated? Maybe I crossed two different things. I will have to try a different setting. Maybe 100. And see what happens. All devices are new deliveries from insteon. First time setup. Took some time between sensors, but maybe not enough. There is only a mention of how to start the setup, not when it is done ... so I've waited till the fast flickr stopped, thinking it was programmed. Looking at the admin console, all sensors and their parts are reporting this evening. They were not this AM. Maybe some went to sleep and left the light on? Thanks for the copy to clipboard hint. Hadn't thought to right click in the left sidebar Copy of the temporary program called 'Motion detected' - work in progress, variation on official example. Wanted to use And Scene Motion Response is off, but I couldn't get that in there. If Control 'M1-Sensor' is switched On Or Control 'M2-Sensor' is switched On And Program 'Motion Detected' is False Then Set Scene 'Motion Response' 100% Else Wait 1 minute Set Scene 'Motion Response' Off Will copy sensor settings next.
  6. I have a pretty good idea of what I want to do and how it should fit together, but I'm stumbling a bit and not quite finding all the details I need or am not able to piece it together just right (not helped by some temporary mobility issues that severely impede computer use) Scenario: I want to deploy three motion 2842.222 motion sensors outside the house (will seek/make weather protection for them) to control some outside lamp posts and flood lights with inline lincs or new micro controllers. This is to be night only illumination. Goal is that tripping any sensor, dusk to dawn , activates the scene, and that the duration ends up being first detection scene on until last detection plus five minutes Status I have a temporary setup in the living room. Three sensors. Two lamplincs + lamps. One program. One scene. Issues: Lamps will turn on but not off ISY reports the status of one or more sensors as blank (currently says m1 and m2 are blank, m3 is off ISY reports one sensor as ON, despite no movement in past few minutes It is daytime, despite having set sensors to night only (they're on now, noon EST) Sensors reset? they do not always seem to have my settings (below), needing me to repeat it Settings: 1 min, 50 led, 35 darkness on on off Program, in progress, was working last night, not this morning (lights are still on): (can't seem to copy the lines from the app?????) If M1 is on Or M2 is on And program motion detected is false Then set scene motion response 100% Else wait one minute Set scene motion response off I figure I can set a time constraint dusk to dawn in program or through each one dusk sensor, and maybe a countdown timeout, but that doesn't fix any underlying issues I am having right now. Within a limited space test environment. I sincerely appreciate your help.
  7. Thank you both. So, it is normal operation (maybe in the future it'll be more advanced ) I guess I could hide those switches from showing in web device list, using ~ Yes, I had used the ISY instructions. The primary reason I got the ISY was so I would have easier setup, more control, etc. But, it is a learning experience
  8. I added my first 3 way insteon circuit to the house the other day. It works fine by tapping either switch in person. Both on and off. Remotely via the ISY only one switch works. I can toggle either switch on or off, see the interface button go green and hear it click, but only the switch with the actual load wire will turn the lights on/off remotely. The switch with the capped load wire just clicks on/off and its leds turn on/off, but does physically nothing regarding turning lights/off. So I think I've got something wrong. The switches are controllers and responders to the scene basement 3way light circuit, as I thought per the instructions I found, but now can't seem to track down. Looking in admin console, I have the switches listed, a hidden scene for the 3way light circuit, a scene for all basement lights. Any pointers as to what documentation I used and what I actually should see in detail for each switch? Thanks,

    Auto DR scene?

Can I hide a device or scene? Yes by adding a ~ in front of the name of the device or scene in the admin console. Thank you, that works
  10. icerabbit

    Auto DR scene?

Could we get an option to not have that (and maybe some other things like ISY ON/OFF) listed in the HTML UD interface? As to not crowd the scene view with stuff I don't want family members to accidentally toggle on/off that they can't or shouldn't use.
  11. A program running in the background could work too, as Xanthros suggests. No need for a button to turn the other two off. Clever thinking. I'm still a novice, so I had to do a scene Which seemed the way to go to turn 3 things on/off at once. Not a priority for KeypadLinc there. There's only 3 things there and there's no three button KL. I'm already happy I can turn off the lights remotely Thanks for the clarification.
  12. Yes, it complained that I tried to have BAS2 3way1 and BAS2 3way2 as a controller for scene BASEMENT LIGHTS. Now, when I, as you suggest, create the scene BASEMENT LIGHTS, all devices are accepted as responders. Which I guess means that I can only set all three zones to off with the ISY web interface. Not when I press OFF on BAS 3way1. So, in order to set the scene BASEMENT LIGHTS to OFF at the door, I would need a second switch or a multi-button switch instead of a 2477S. ( Recognizing that 2477s, is actually only one single button for on/off; and can't be linked/programmed with a more extensive off routine, so to speak)
  13. Thank you, Michel and your team for your support & intervention. I'm still not sure what exactly transpired, as far as things hanging up or not seeing each other, but things worked out. I have looked at the videos, wiki, ... and am learning more as I go.
  14. Consider a basement with 3 sections: A B C. A = 1x 2477S (BAS1 switch ) B = 2x 2477S in 3-way (BAS2 3WAY1 and BAS2 3WAY2) with Scene BAS2 3WAY (both controller) C= 1x 2477S (BAS3 switch) 99% of the time one enters the basement in the middle section, at BAS2 3WAY1 interior door. 1% of the time BAS2 3WAY2 is used at the exterior door. As needed a person will flip on zone A or C to get something. What I'd like is when you leave the basement, that you don't have to go back to turn A and/or C OFF, in other words that when OFF is pressed on the 3-way circuit; that it turns lights off for the entire basement. I thought I could add all devices to a scene called BASEMENT LIGHTS and then get a program setup to accomplish that. But, the ISY complained that the zone B switches are already already part of another scene. And, now I'm feeling lost. I've looked at the manual, the video, ... this morning and I thought the idea would work, but I'm missing a couple details or somewhere, I think ... Thank you for your help
  15. I just restarted my computer, emptied browser cache & java cache. And, now I can access the program tab again I think understand what you mean that it being listed Red means it can act as its own controller. I just thought Red = Bad. Maybe the UI legend could/should be expanded to include that information. Knock on wood the hot water is now programmed for Off Peak Time Of Use, and I don't have to worry about the old mechanical clock any more with power interruptions and daylight saving time (which can put it in peak time at triple the electric cost) Maybe Michel or Chris tunneled in remotely and fixed something this morning (they have my url etc) What a learning experience. Thank you so much, Lee! Hopefully my next hardware installs will go smoother. I have another box with modules and another 2477SA1 for the pool pump
  16. The link now to the 2477SA1 seems stable (knock on wood) Though its name "Hot Water Heater" remains lit up red in the ISY network, on the left hand side of the UI, whereas others are blue. Checked documentation. Can't see a reason for that, other than some example where two things are a controller. It also doesn't have a light bulb icon, but a square thing with color squares in it. Maybe those two things are related? My new oddity now is that I can't see anything under the program tab. Main tab works, Configurations works. Programs is blank? I was going to set a program for the hot water heater to be time of use controlled. I already had three programs. Can't see them now?? So, one step forward, one step back, unfortunately, it seems. Sigh.
  17. Hi Lee, Well, the mystery continues. Couldn't sleep. Just tried it. No error ?! So that is fantastic news. But I wonder what happened in the past 12 hrs?? I don't know how to identify if it is I2CS or not ... though I assume it is. The two tables were empty before, now show 5 and 2 entries?? How did those get in there?? Magic?? Voodoo?? See copies of three event viewer logs below. One is the queries, then on/off, and on again. Plus two link tables. Thank you so much for your help! And patience. 18. Hi Lee, Yes, latest firmware on the ISY. Updated over the weekend. Firmware of the 2477SA1 (acquired last fall 2012). On a small label on the bottom, it has the model #, 6 digit code and then v 1.11 with below that 4311. ISY links table (right click on device show table) is blank.
  19. Did an additional test. I plugged in an ApplianceLinc (outdoor little grey box with a pigtail) into one of the circuits off of subpanel C, same panel that the hot water heater is on, and I can turn that little ApplianceLinc on/off, no problem. So it would not be a subpanel to subpanel communication issue, I think.
  20. Thank you, Lee Michel got me sorted out with the bug between the ISY + JAVA + Windows that locked me out. He figured I had a communication issue with the 2477SA1 and I said I would look into it further. I have since mapped 80% of the electrical circuits in the house. I added a phase linc adjacent to the main panel, where all subpanels originate, with an insteon outletlinc. Then I really thought that the dual-band PLM and Load Controller ought to talk over the air, if they saw each other; if powerline wasn't doing it. I found an unused circuit on subpanel A. So, I gave the ISY & PLM its own circuit. Mounted it centrally in the basement, where it can line of sight see three electrical subpanels between 10-15-25 ft away. So, now literally 8 steps separate the PLM (panel A) & the 2477SA1 (panel C). I can take a picture with both in it. But the ISY keeps giving a communication error??? Sent a note to UD support, and one tech responded less than 15 min later, and did a live session over phone & internet. I could follow along in the event viewer, that the 2477SA1 sends out ACK (good) but then sends out NACK when you ask it to turn the hot water on. So, I'm waiting for more news/troubleshooting. And, whether maybe the 2477 is bad or if there's some firmware incompatibility? Or?
  21. Email sent to support. I'm just stuck in this loop that goes nowhere.
  22. Well, I just got caught in this rats nest today. I couldn't add the load controller for the water heater. Added a phase coupler. Trying again. Had to update JAVA as my computer said it was no longer allowed/outdated. Now every time I try to get into the ISY whether FireFox or Chrome ... it kicks me out? Emptied the java caches. It now shows a progress indicator prior to launching the admin console, which I'm guessing is good, same old shut down error adding nodes poof. How productive and what a great time I'm having with this. How do I fix this?
  23. I have an ISY 994i that last fall was set up for some landscape lighting. I just installed a 2477SA1 240v 30A load controller to control a hot water heater, and restrict it to be on during off peak electricity hours. Installed fine. Button controls on/off. Push and hold gets it into linking mode. So, I request the ISY to start linking, and press the the 2477SA1 button for 3 secs, at which point it beeps and flashes the LED. But, nothing happens in the ISY admin console? Note we have one master panel where the power comes in, which only function is to feeds 4 strategically located sub panels (elongated house and additional floor) The ISY + Homelink are connected to subpanel A @ ~ 35ft. The 2477SA1 is connected to subpanel B @ 75 ft. Considering the length of runs and a possible phase issue, I added a 2406H SignalLinc to subpanel A to bridge / boost the signal. Tried again to link new devices, but nothing new happens? Only my landscape controllers show up. Also, shouldn't the SignaLinc show up? Which is on the same panel A as the ISY and insteon modem. When I click around in the admin console after a period of no activity, it says error adding new devices, try again??? Appreciate your input & advice. PS: Firmware on the ISY is 3.2.6 Figured it might be a good idea to backup the ISY and see if there's a firmware update. Well it says error can't write file when I try to back up. I have no idea what is going on. Well, I did have to update Java today, I think it was 7u17 or something. Whatever latest JAVA served up today. PS2: Figured I'd reboot my computer and start fresh. Logged into the ISY, get to admin console. Flashes an error adding nodes retry and self closes? ?? Help! ??
  24. I am just getting to know my ISY a little better after having installed my first insteon devices and now starting to look at automating a few things. In configuration I set the time to 24hr, which results in a nice 07:nn sunrise and 18:nn sunset in the main screen. But, when I go to programming it looks like everything regarding time is still am/pm. Did I miss something? Or is the clock display change just a recent standalone change, that didn't carry over into all time aspects? No big issue obviously, just a few extra steps to program.
