EricK, Would you mind posting how you would set this up for yourself? To do what I need as well as make the KPL light go off?
-
So I would just make a scene and set the ON LEVEL to 0 for what I want off and higher for what I want on?
-
So it seems as if setting it to ON ONLY is what I would want. So I would use the below: If Status 'KPL NightTime' is not off Then Then in the THEN area I would set each device to either be on or off? Sorry for the confusion? It seems I am always asking for help in the same area, but each scenario is always different! Thanks!
-
Would the button on the KPL be a toggle or off or on only?
-
Hey there, I want to have the following happen, but I'm not sure how to set it up. 1. Press button on KPL for NIGHTIME 2. Lights on second floor turn off 3. Lights on the stairs turn on 4. Bedroom lights turn on How can I make it so when I push a button, devices go off AND on? Thanks!
-
The KPL responds in terms of its button lights going on or off and SOMETIMES, very rarely, will a corresponding light in the home go on or off. I just think it is incredibly weird that these two issues started happening at the same time...
-
Okay, I think this has turned into two different issues, maybe. I have been using Mobilinc Connect so everything was automated from me. I changed the settings so that when on my local network, it simply connected directly to the controller. Everything synched fine. I dont know why outside access has stopped. NOTHING has changed in my network or INSTEON configuration, so I dont know why access has stopped. But the other problem now is that one KPL (and this has been this way form the beginning of these issues) doesn't respond to any commands physically. When I turn on the kitchen light, the corresponding light on the KPL turns on, but when you press that button on the KPL, nothing happens to the corresponding light. Something is definitely up here.

This is static too. I have a business internet connection with a static WAN address. So this didn't change either.
-
Nope, it has a fixed IP of 10.0.1.3 and I verified this just to make sure through the admin control panel.

Hello, I have been using my ISY with no problems for about a year. However, all of a sudden, without ANY changes to anything in my home (network, appliances etc), Mobilinc is unable to connect to the ISY and some KeypadLinc insteon devices do not work. I can, however, log into the ISY using the admin portal and see everything perfectly fine. Would anyone have ANY idea what could have possibly caused this? Thank you!

Hi all, I thought of an interesting project idea, but when it came to designing it, that is where I got stuck. With all of this technology, our family too is automated! When the wash is done, I get an alert on my phone. When it is time to feed the dogs, alert. So many alerts for so many different things. Some alerts only happen if other things happen. I really do love my system!! Heres the problem... I will get an alert and forget about it. That is when I had this idea... I would make a board or display of some sort with whatever the activity, room, problem etc is and have individual LEDs next to them as well as buzzers for certain ones. For example, when it is time to feed the dogs, I will get an alert on my phone and the GREEN light next to FEED THE DOGS on the board starts blinking. When I have fed the dogs, I tell the system somehow (maybe a KPL or just through the iPhone app, not as important... or maybe a button on the display?) then the light is solid green. At midnight, the dog feeding status resets itself and the other LED is solid red. The next time it is time to feed the dogs, red goes off, notification to phone, green led flashing. Make sense? Maybe even add a buzzer or beeping sound in there to say "hey lazy ***, get up!" Another example... laundry. When the laundry machine is off, the green light will glow all the time. When I do the laundry and the machine is running, red can flash. When the laundry is done, red off and green can flash. Same would apply for the dryer. I was thinking about doing this with appliance adapters, 12v adapters and 12v LEDs, but then I realized I would need like 75 of the damn appliancelins! I have seen other projects be completed using Arduino or RaspberryPi and obviously circuit boards of something... but I have never worked with anything like that. Does anyone have any ideas about how I could do this? Has something like this been done before? I am looking for something that I could build nice and big and put on the wall so everyone in the house knows whats going on. No more feeding the dog 3 times or forgetting to move the laundry from the washer to the dryer and then having to do the load again because it stinks. Thanks guys!!!

Hi all, I was hoping to get some help with creating, I guess what I would call an "activity"... meaning, I have a KPL with a button that says "Nighttime". When I am ready to go upstairs for the night, I can press the "Nighttime" button and it will do the following: -Turn off the lights in the living room, kitchen etc -Turn on the stairway lights, bedroom lights etc However, I want the button to ONLY be able to do that, meaning if I press the button, it will only turn OFF the living room lights and only turn ON the stair lights. So if I were to press the button again, it basically wouldn't do anything unless after I had pressed it the first time, I for whatever reason turned the kitchen lights back on. Does this make sense? Thanks!

I do not mean the temp that I set the device to, which is 72. I am speaking about the temp that it shows as the current temo in the room. As you can see by the screenshot from the admin console, it even shows 79degrees there.
-
Hi all, I have the INSTEON Thermostat with Humidity Sensor Model #2441TH. I have it set at 72 and it seems to be at that temourature, however, the screen shows the room temp is 79-80. Why is this? How can I fix it?

I just want it to always run, 24/7. I simply took the programming from apostolakisl and made it as follows: If --- Then repeat every 15 minutes Set appliance linc on wait 15 minutes set appliance linc off Else - - - It goes on, runs for 15 minutes, turns off and stays off for 15 minutes, then goes on again and repeats the cycle. Just what I needed. If I need to turn it off, I can use the admin console or Mobilinc.
-
apostolakisl Thanks for getting back to me. There is not control for this AppliancLinc, it is simply plugged into the wall with the AC plugged into it. How would I modify this program to accommodate this?
-
Hi again, I was hoping someone could help me out with another scheduling rule. I have a portable AC in a room that gets very hot due to computer equipment. I want to plug it into an ApplianceLinc and have it run for 15 minutes, then off for 15 minutes and then continue the cycle. On, off, on, off etc. How could I program that?
-
LeeG, Following your instructions from the other post (BTW, my KPLs are v.41), I did the following. 1. Created 4 Scenes -Fan High -Fan Low -Fan Medium -Fan Off 2. Added the FanLinc to all the scenes and set it to the appropriate level 3. Added the respective buttons form the KPLs to the scenes as controllers 4. Set the KPLs "On Level" for each device in each scene to "0" (what does this do, BTW?) Using the KPL in the wall in the bedroom, I can control the fan, however, if I press the LOW button, it turns on, but then what I press the OFF button both the LOW and OFF buttons illuminate. And as for the additional 2 KPLs, they sometimes show the same status and sometimes do not. What am I doing wrong here?

Hello everyone, I installed a FanLinc in my bedroom... I have 3 KeypadLincs (In-wall and each side of the bed) that I want to use to be able to control the speeds (High, Medium, Low, Off). How can I program this? I can find nothing on Smarthome's website or even in the UD Wiki. Thanks!
-
That is where I purchased my in-wall mounts from. I use Alarm.com for security and everything else is through my ISY. I just wish there was a better program that is more customizable than Mobilinc to let me have access to it all from the iPad screen.
-
I have Mobilinc but you cannot customize it the same way you can with DemoPad. For something that will be "displayed" in my home, showing the same switches that are in the wall on the screen just doesn't look great. As for Android over iPad, I already have the iPad, an older one, so why not use it?
-
Hi guys, I was hoping to get some opinions/suggestions etc on what I want to do here. I love the idea of putting an iPad in a mount and putting it in my wall.. like in the living room or common area, hallways etc. to control lighting, music. TVs and more. However, what I am having trouble with is finding the right program to do it with. I was looking at another HA system called Control4 and love the way their app is set up: Is there any app like this for INSTEON control? I was looking at DemoPad, but INSTEON support isn't built in. While INSTEON works with DemoPad, it looks incredibly hard to get it functioning properly. Any thoughts?
-
I spoke to INSTEON support for a long time about this and this is what we finally came up with. Because it is 5v we decided it would be fine. So far, so good. Working like a charm.

Hi, I know this is an old topic, but I was trying to do the same thing with my GE Simon XTi alarm through Alarm.com. Please see my original post here: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=10901&p=83700#p83700

I got this all sorted out... not the "prettiest" way, but it works. I simply needed to have my alarm turn off ALL lights in my home when I "Arm Away" and turn on the foyer light and living room lights when I disarm the alarm... aka coming back home. I did this by using an I/O linc and a Z-Wave module from GE (http://www.amazon.com/GE-45603-Technolo ... rds=z-wave) and an old 5V power adapter I had laying around. I plugged the positive wire of the power adapter into the SENSE port of the I/O linc and the ground wire into the GROUND port of the I/O linc. I then plugged the power adapter into the Z-Wave module. I set my alarm up so that when I arm the alarm AWAY, the module turns on, therefore activating the I/O linc. And when I disarm the alarm, the module turns off, therefore deactivation ght I/O linc. I then have the proper rules set up in my ISY to turn the lights on and off. Now, this simply turns my lights on and off when I leave and get home. It doesn't do anything for alarms etc. I supposed you could use another setup the same way and program it so when the alarm goes off, it activates the 2nd Z-wave module, then the I/O linc and then a rule in the I/O linc to flash certain lights. Like I said, this setup isn't easy, but it works for exactly what I need it to do.
