Ah! See the problems I had was entering the values exactly as you had them. It did not occur to me that they had to be current. So basically, the programs you wrote and I imported tell the variables to change the day month and year when appropriate?
-
I am sorry... I do not quite know what you mean...
-
Okay, I added all of the variables... integers and states. Then imported the file you provided. I created a new program called test and set it up as: If $iDay.of.Month is 1 And Time is 10:35:00PM Then Send Notification to 'Email' content 'Test' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I chose 10:35 because it was in two minutes... no email received. I did a test from the configuration email page and it came through just fine...

I actually spoke to a Smarthome manager (OMG!) and they also told me to use http://www.smarthome.com/7278/ELK-912-S ... ard/p.aspx. The problem I have is getting the XTi to send the right signals: lights on when alarm disarmed... lights off when alarm armed away. Does anyone else have any better idea of doing this? I love my alarm system and the fact it uses GSM to communicate with central monitoring. I know ELK can could do central monitoring, I think, but the fact that the whole system is wired is an extreme turn off.

If I leave it set up through the ISY and set it up directly through both thermostats, will everything still work properly? Only one way to find out...
-
apostolakisl, I am still incredibly confused. I imported the file as you mentioned... now I have to go and enter all of the variables because those cannot be imported... so now, how do I set up an event to say "on the 9th day of every month do THIS"?
-
No, I have not used any of them yet... all pretty new to this! I downloaded them... how do I install them? Once I install them... how do I use them? I am more of a point and click guy... when it gets to programming/variables... I get lost. Thank you everyone for your help!

Sort of... the biggest thing I need to do is have a reoccurring event on a certain day every month. I do not want to have to go into the system and make one for every month... there is a daily option, why not monthly?

Hello all, I have an alarm system from Alarm.com. It is a GE/Interlogix Simon XTi. On Smarthome's website, they give this guide on how to connect INSTEON to an alarm with an I/O Linc, however, it is very broad and I am having some issues. Here is their guide: http://www.smarthome.com/projects-6a.html They state: The Simon XTi has 5 contacts on the inside: -HW1 I/O -HW1&2 DC out -HW2 in -9 VAC in -9 VAC in (the two 9 VAC in connections are for the power supply) Reading the Simon XTi manual, I am given this: I am having difficulty matching everything up. These contacts seem to be made for hardwired open/close sensors, but should also be able to be used for the I/O linc. I want specified lights to turn on when I come home (disarm the alarm) and turn off when I leave (arm the alarm). I called the alarm company and they said to talk to INSTEON. I called INSTEON and they said to talk to the alarm company. I am on my own with this. Does anyone know how to help me here?? Is there a better way to make my current alarm system work with INSTEON and ISY? Thank you!

I got the wireless addon thermostat and added it to the ISY with no issues. It is reporting the tempurature in the location it is in. However, how can I make it show its temp on the main thermostat's screen. I read there is a way, but that is without using the ISY. Thank you again!

I am simply trying to have a program run on a certain date of every month. But with what is available in ISY does not let me do this...
-
apostolakisl, Thank you for your reply. I am completely at a loss here. While your wiki article probably provided exactly what I needed, I do not have the brain cells not programming knowledge to make that work. What you described is exactly what I need... programs to trigger things on the first of every month or something of the like. Can you give me an abbreviated version of how to program the ISY. It would be VERY appreciated! Thank you! MFranzel

Hi again, I am sorry for asking 1000 questions, but getting down to the really nitty gritty programing for the ISY is hard for me... So I thank everyone in advance for your help and patience! I have a button on a KPL called "Bedtime". When I press this, all the devices on the first floor go off... lamps, fans, ceiling lights etc... However, I want to be able to press it and have all the 2nd floor devices go off, but also turn on devices on the third floor so when we get up there, it isn't dark... for example, the bedroom light, stairs, hallways etc. I would assume I have to do this with programs and scenes, but I am having a lot of difficulty figuring it out. Any help would be appreciated!

I am still trying to get this working properly... Having a weird issue now... I have some ApplianceLincs, KeypadLinc buttons and SwitchLincs all as controllers in a scene. However, some buttons on the KPL work for one scene while another button on the same KPL doesn't work... at all. I have tried removing it from the scene and adding it back and no luck... what would be doing this?

Hi all, I was wondering if it was possible to set a program with a time condition but instead of having it run daily, only on certain days of the week or at a certain date, having it run on a monthly schedule or something of the like. Is this possible?
-
Ah! Didn't even think about that! Just add something else to draw the power... Perfect! Thanks!

One of the "all lights" buttons, when pressed, turns all the lights off, however, there is a button for the hallway stairs and two buttons on two different KPLs for the office lights. When the "all lights" button is pressed, the office lights and hallway lights go off, but their KPL buttons stay on... Why is this?

Hello again, I have an ApplianceLinc controlling some LED strips that light up my entertainment center. However, when I switch the ApplianceLinc off, the LEDs blink randomly. I am assuming this is because they are such low voltage some electricity "escapes". Is there a filter or something of the like I can put between the ApplianceLinc and the LEDs to stop this? Thanks!

Hello, I have multiple KPLs around my home with the buttons set up to do mixed purposes. Some buttons simply turn a single light on and off, while one button could control a scene, like turning all of the lights in my bedroom on and off. The problem I am having is correctly setting the buttons up to show me statuses. For example, one that is correctly working is status for my bathroom light and fan. I have a program setup like so: If Status '3. Third Floor / Master Bathroom' is On Or Status '3. Third Floor / Master Bathroom Fan' is On Or Status '3. Third Floor / Master Closet' is On Then Wait 1 second Set Scene 'Scenes / 3rd Floor / Bedroom / Bathroom and Closet Status / MJF' On Set Scene 'Scenes / 3rd Floor / Bedroom / Bathroom and Closet Status / RMC' On Set Scene 'Scenes / 3rd Floor / Bedroom / Bathroom and Closet Status / Master' On Else Wait 1 second Set Scene 'Scenes / 3rd Floor / Bedroom / Bathroom and Closet Status / MJF' Off Set Scene 'Scenes / 3rd Floor / Bedroom / Bathroom and Closet Status / RMC' Off Set Scene 'Scenes / 3rd Floor / Bedroom / Bathroom and Closet Status / Master' Off As you can see, I have a scene set up separately for buttons on each KPL. This program works great. No fail. However, I have another scene set up for a KPL next to my bed so I can see if any light in my home is on that I may have left on before I went to bed. I set up the same type of scenes and programs, but with all the lights in my home, except the lights in my bedroom, and for different buttons on the KPLs, but for whatever reason, this program won't work. Am I doing something wrong? Are these setup correctly? Is this the correct way for me to set up "statuses"? Honestly, this way seems incredibly hard to set something up to show me the status of lights around my home. Any and all help would be appreciated! Thank you!

But how could I hook up a thermostat without thermostat hook ups?

Hi all, I was wondering if there were any devices that would allow me to monitor the temperature in a room and see that temperature through Mobilink or any other app to control the ISY from my iPhone. Would this work? http://www.smarthome.com/24950A7/I-O-Li ... Kit/p.aspx It says it is for activating scenes or doing actions when the temperature reaches a high or low, but will it show me the temperature on my iPhone? I could just set it to not do anything on highs or lows. Any ideas? Thanks!

oberkc, In response to each of your questions, the answer to all is Yes.
-
For that, I believe you will need a program. I don't believe insteon scenes can support such a scenerio. You will also need to create an additional scene, with the KPL button as the only device, as responder. Your program would look something like: if status "bathroom light" is on or status "closet light" is on or status "bathroom fan" is on then set "scene with KPL button" on else set "scene with KPL button" off Hi there, thank you so much for this info. I upgraded to the latest release last night and this has stopped working. I don't understand why it is so hard to program the ISY to show statuses of other lights on a button... Is there a work around for this or am I doing something wrong?

Hi all. I simply replaced the problematic CFLs with LED bulbs and everything works perfectly fine with all of my controllers. Thanks for everyones help!
