Shannong, can I pick your brain about this again? I got a few 5816 sensors, connected wire the two blue terminals (the block inside), and set the sensor to the Elk in ElkRP to be: Definition: Water Sensor (Also have tried burglar instant to get an instant alarm going) Type: 0 - EOL Hardwire/Wireless Supervision: 1 - Normal Supervision Loop: 1 If I put the magnet near it and take it away, I get an immediate alarm. If I place the two wires into water...nothing. I've tried different variations of Supervision and Loop and still get nothing with water on the wires. Am I missing something? Please help! Thanks.

I see that now with the additional pics. Do you have a pic of where it's wired/soldered to the board? Thanks again!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks! What are the screws connected to / touching inside the case? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Also, just for reference, here's a link to someone who used GE's crystal technology door/window sensor connected to a hobby boards leaf wetness sensor for the same result: http://cocoontech.com/forums/topic/1641 ... omsearch=1

Shannong, would you mind sharing a picture of the inside of the 5816, with how you have the screws placed/connected? I'm very soon purchasing my Elk setup, having decided after much debate between GE and Honeywell to go with Honeywell for most sensors, for now anyway, and like the idea of using your setup for leak sensors (vs. the Insteon I have been now - luckily I've been slowly adding insteon so I didn't have too much invested in water sensors).

Ejh3 - maybe I missed this earlier in the thread, but what's the benefit to switching to the Elk to run the garage door? I'm currently running the 994i with the garage door I/O unit, but adding Elk for security soon. I'm going to put a door sensor on the entry door from the garage to the house...and not seeing a need to change from ISY to Elk controlling my garage doors. Please let me know if I'm missing an important feature as to why the Elk would be worth spending the $ on to control the garage doors!! (Also, a nice how-to would be great when/if you can get one together!!) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just to keep following up with this: I've not had any time to follow-up on the tips and recommendations to fix this from the posts above, but have however another failed notification. Last night when I came home from work by garage did the thing where it bottoms out, and then opens back up 1/4 of the way. I noticed it, and left it that way to see if I got the notification. I didn't. 7:05 is when I should have gotten the notifications (email + text), and 8:08 is when I manually closed the garage. Should have gotten notifications that the garage was open for 30 minutes, and then another once it was closed as confirmation. Here's the error log entries. Does this mean anything more to anyone? -50010 mail.universal-devices.com Mon 2014/03/17 07:05:51 PM System -50010 mail.universal-devices.com Mon 2014/03/17 08:08:09 PM System -50010 mail.universal-devices.com Mon 2014/03/17 08:08:15 PM System -50010 mail.universal-devices.com Tue 2014/03/18 06:52:09 AM System -100 [DHCP] state=RENEW P.S...I did receive my notification (text) that my sunset lights came on yesterday (Sunset being sometime around 6:59 pm).

That makes sense. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So the question is: If the hot water line on a faucet breaks, will the entire hot water contents run out? If the cold line breaks, then it would continue running presumably until the whole house water is shut off. So...should you have an automatic shutoff valve on the hot water line right after the water heaters, as well as on the whole house main water line? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I've been switching all the switches in my home (some to Insteon, some to new "dumb" switches). Seems that I have a neutral capped in each box. Thanks for the info folks. I'll be sure to have my electrician buddy read through this before we attack the 4 ways. I'm taking things just a few pieces at a time. Will try to have this 4 way deal switched out sometime in March/April, so will report back with how we did it for future reference.

I added a request for this on the SH forum. Thanks for pointing that out Teken. *Maybe this has been resolved already? My Smoke Bridge shows a "Malfunction" line. Not sure if that actually reads the "hearbeat" or what not of the detectors though.

Thanks folks. I've got several SwitchLinc's installed, but none on a 4-way. I'm ok with the electrical, once I know where everything should go...but might need to get an electrician buddy of mine in here for the 4 way. He talked me through a 3 way setup of the SwitchLinc's over the phone, but I'm thinking the 4 way is going to be just a bit trickier.

Thanks for the replies folks. I'm going to have to do some digging/reading about everything ya'll just posted. I'm not a techy by trade, so I learn as I go. Over the past week, I've had the notifications working without issue. But will still look into the tips posted here to work on getting to the bottom of this.

I've got a set of 3 track lights in my home in an open area. All three turn on/off together. There are 3 toggle switches throughout the open area to control these lights. When I turn one toggle on, all 3 track lights turn on. Obviously I can turn on/off the track lights from any of the 3 toggles. So, looks like I've got a 4-way setup. How would I accurately wire these with the Switchlinc #2477S? (moving my home to Decora vs. toggles). Any help is much appreciated!

We have Comcast here. Anything I can check/change in settings (router or ISY) to get to the bottom of the DNS issues? Thanks again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sorry about the late reply. I've been extremely busy and unable to give this the attention it needs. However, a missed notification today reminded me to update here. My error log goes back to 12/27/2013, and I have one (-11), two (-5), and one (-6) errors showing. When the weather gets really cold/hot, our garage doors tend to be a little finicky (as they are wood and expand/contract). Very cold today. I got home at 6:07 pm or so, closed the garage, but it hit the bottom and bumped up a little, settling 1/4 of the way open. A problem we have every once in a while due to them being wood doors. I received no notification that it was open. Just now, at 9:41 I noticed the garage door open, closed it, and immediately got a notification that it was closed (text + email). So the "system" knew the door was open for more than 30 minutes, but again I got no notification. Mind you, the last few days while shoveling I have gotten the notification as I left the door open while shoveling, so I know it does work...sometimes. Fri 2014/02/07 05:11:06 PM System -50010 mail.universal-devices.com Fri 2014/02/07 05:11:11 PM System -50010 mail.universal-devices.com Fri 2014/02/07 06:37:18 PM System -50010 mail.universal-devices.com What are these errors at 5:11? I came home right about 6:07 (I know this for sure as I made a phone call soon after I entered my home so have a record of the time). So it looks like it tried to send me a message at 6:37, which would make sense. Anything else I can specifically look at now to see why the I didn't get the alert as I now know the exact time I should have gotten one and that it didn't happen? Thanks again for any help.

I believe this is what I was looking for in the error log?... Tue 2014/01/07 System -50001 -11 and -11 = SMTP_TO_TIMEOUT Unfortunately I cannot say for certain this was the day that it last happened, but the time of day seems to indicate it is. I also have -5 and -6 popping up in the error log.

Anybody else having this issue, or know of any work-arounds? I receive email/text notifications for 3 things. Water sensor, lights turning on a sunset, and if the garage is left open. Each day I receive a text/email that my lights turned on at sunset. Great. Recently just switched this to text only, and works fine. I had noticed hit or miss notifications with my water sensor while testing it, which is definitely concerning, but sort of gave up on trying to figure it out (I know, bad move). Now this has happened. Twice. I have a program that emails/texts me if the garage is left open for more than 30 mintues, then emails/texts when it's closed as confirmation. Twice now, I never got the email/test that it is OPEN, only received it when it closed. One time I didn't know it was open (this is exactly what the purpose of the program is for!), my wife came home from work, closed the garage, and I got the notifications. Asked her about it when I saw the notifications, and she said yeah, you left the garage open. We don't generally leave the garage open, only if it's an accident. But while shoveling the driveway we do leave it open for more than 30 minutes, so I've been able to test these notifications quite often this year. Most of the time it works as should, but twice I never got the notification that it was left open, but did get the notification that it was closed. Thoughts or any input is much appreciated.

Thanks LeeG. First I had tried unplugging the ISY for a bit. That didn't fix the problem (I didn't expect it to as it wasn't really an ISY problem). I just did a PLM restore, and that fixed it. Thank you very much. Annoyed now more than ever with this...I don't like not understanding / the unexplained. Is there any thoughts as to why all of the sudden all of my switches/devices would break the link like that? Something I can avoid in the future? All of the sudden I don't feel like you can truly trust MobiLinc, for example, to see the status of my garage door, if the link might be broken and therefore MobiLinc would possibly be incorrect (not MobiLinc's fault, but thats where I would look for status of devices if I'm outside of the house).

More trouble in paradise... Now that the program works, and it does work well...I have another issue. When I switch a light at the source (switch the light on/off at the switch itself)...my ISY is not updating, and therefore my MobiLinc is not updating. I can control the device via ISY directly or MobiLinc, and when I do this the status in both is correct and updates correctly. But, if I walk over to the switch, and turn the light OFF, for example, it still shows ON in ISY and MobiLinc. If I query it in ISY, then it updates correctly to be OFF. Any idea why this is happening? I have 5 light switches (3 are SwitchLincs and 2 are ToggleLincs). All 5 are doing the same thing, that is, not reporting their status back to the ISY if I change the status at the switch itself. They were working/updating normally before. I tested them a million times today while working on the garage/lighting issues and so had them on/off and was aware of their state the entire time. I didn't want to start a new thread. Anyone still reading this thread have any idea what I should try to resolve this or what could be causing this? *Edit, just checked the garage door, and it does not update to ISY to show whether the sensor is OFF or ON (Open or Closed). *Edit 2, there's nothing regarding me pressing the switches in Event Viewer or the Log. I've pressed a switch, gone back and checked both, and nothing happened at that time. Tried this a few times, same result. It's as if I'm pressing the button on the switch, and it's not sending data back to ISY telling it what it just did (turned ON for example). But I do have communication, as I can still control the lights from ISY/MobiLinc and those statuses reflect fine.

From what I can tell, same thing applies to the smoke bridge and First Alert detector. I've turned off the breakers a few times to replace some switches and install others, and each time, the smoke bridge shows nothing for Smoke / CO / Clear. It does however show OFF for Low Battery, Malfunction, Test, and Unknown Message. The Smoke / CO / Clear show no status until you test the Fire Alarm or press the button on the smoke bridge. Then all is good, except Clear doesn't show anything, but I don't believe it ever does. (I could be wrong though, I'll have to keep an eye out on it).

Genius! I didn't have the lights in any other programs...but...at some point today I was playing with scenes trying to learn how all that works...and I had put the three of them (2 lights + Garage Door) into a scene. Just deleted the scene, and checked several times, and each time everything executed perfectly. Thanks!!! And no, had not linked the devices manually. Thanks everyone for the quick replies and the resolution!

Just checked both lights several times. Each time the ISY reflects the correct on/off status of each light. - There are no other programs with these lights. I just installed them yesterday, and installed the garage unit today. Haven't had a chance to add them to anything else yet. - Firmware is V.4.0.5 - UI is V.4.0.11 ***Here's something I just noticed. My wife just came home, and I was in the middle of testing. I had 1 of the lights on, and 1 of them off. When she opened the garage door. The light that was ON, flashed OFF, then they both went ON. So...I think ISY is catching that light as OFF, and that makes them both OFF, so they both go ON. That leads me to this question...with the above program...why is the light that is ON flashing OFF, then back ON again? Also, just did this...If I leave both lights ON, and open the garage, they both turn OFF. Then when I close the garage, they both flash ON briefly, and then stay OFF. Hmmm...
