Put all programs into one folder you want to stop. Put a logic condition for the folder in place, and make it evaluate to False.

When will we ever see a fix for these new motion 2844-222 in the ISY ? I have purchased three of these when they first came out and can't use them at all. I should have sent them back I guess. The ISY sees these but does nothing with them. I see the sensor, dusk dawn and low battery. I can make it show On and OFF by pressing the set button. I set a program for when the sensor shows ON to turn on a lamp and nothing happens. The ISY doesn't seem to be able to use these at all. I have never had any problems with the old ones except for batteries not lasting in outdoor situation for more than about eight months. They always worked. But of course you can no longer buy those. I am in need of three motions for outdoor flood light control. I was hoping for the new model to work because of their size and can be put out where they aren't seen. Anyone out there using these new crappy motion sensors.
Do they not work with ISY v5.0.11b ?
-
Did you mean that or is it a typo?
Yup. It was when the font sizing feature first came out, only on v4 UI and I misread postings that it could work with v5...about v5.0.1-.2 era. It hung my ISY completely and I had to factory reset my ISY. I learned the hard way when admin console shows a mess, don't ever edit or save your prgrams.
That factory reset cleaned up a huge speed slow down after the many failed node server attempts at installs and removals.

Michel
It is really my experience that my system slows down over time. What I mean with that is that, after a few months, when controlling lights in my AC a windows opens showing a percentage and it then takes a few seconds to react. This phenomenon disappears when I reformat the microcard and then restore the file. Over the past two years I may have done this about three times and each time the difference was noticeable.
I had this experience also after many failed attempts to upgrade ISY. Failed running v5 with v4 UI, installed early Polyglot, failed, removed, reinstalled then repeated a few times with NodeLink in earlier versions.
Eventually I factory reset my ISY and things became like new again. My conclusion was that early methods of node server installs, left uncleaned out links to things that didn't function or exist any more. The difference in speed was extreme.

mwester, thanks for the info.
Is this still the case Michel?
Michel doesn't monitor all posts.
Either quote some of his text or post your request in the Feature Request thread.

I use the variable set and detect method in many places. Once setup with the bank of programs as drivers the modularity allows easy changes without recreating and remembering how obscure programming paths work.
Use of variables to control lighting scenes, programs and devices also allows many different inputs to control that variable.
eg: To run a sequence of lights that independently dim and change colouring involving Insteon overhead floods, MiLight bulbs, Hue bulbs and LEDenet RGBW strips it is as easy as one line of code in a program.
- then
- ....set $sGathRm.mode = $cMODE.SUNSET
This would take a myriad of programming to trigger every program, and scene involved. This would be nasty to change three programs that use that sequence. The central variable control makes it very easy and modular for future mods.
-
I did a blend of ver 4 and 5 once and made a mess of my ISY.
If you have, or do not have, a good backup, factory reset your ISY, do a restore, set up your location times zone and a few other things and continue like nothing happened.
I think there is some scene problems updating past early version 5.x. They had to be touched up to continue. IMHO well worth it though.

I have no idea how that relates to the issue? Are you saying that the specification of the Alexa category in the ISY portal is irrelevant? So why is it even there? I need to control these as LIGHTS in Alexa.
Sent from my SM-T710 using Tapatalk
I believe this categorisation by Alexa is or the prupose of linking only certain devices to an Amazon device. Since I do not have an android v5.0+ OS (or maybe an iOS device) this is only a PITA to me.
-
I "forgot" living room lights and rediscovered living room lights. Even though Alexa category "Light" is selected it still pulled into Alexa as a scene. It basically appears that the "alexa" device category being specified in the portal is being completely ignored and it is just using the ISY category.
The two category selections are not related.
One is an ISY category and the other is Alexa's categorisation = "device" or "not a device".
This caused me some grief, at first, wondering where half my devices went.

FallenAngel discovered their app doesn't function properly on android less than v5 as declared by Amazon on the PlayStore. For those Canadians who were fortunate enough to have the Amazon Echo prior to its release in country. We have all enjoyed the ability to use different skills, news, music, etc. Since the official launch on December 05, 2017 the system has been hobbled and disabled. Today I made a phone call with the Amazon Technical Support Team and (She) made the changes on my account to restore all the features I came to enjoy in the past.
What they need to do on their end:
- Change your account from the Canadian Market Place to the American side.
- Change your address from Canadian to American.
- I am not sure if the web hack works anymore as the new system doesn't show the listing it had before to edit out the address to a local one.
Besides hearing the news, music, the *Tell Me* skill which I rely upon for real time metrics was no longer working. This has now been restored and working as before. The CSR is going to escalate this issue with the development team in hopes of feature parity for the Canadian market.
Lets be frank, everything that was offered on the Canadian side was pure junk . . .
I can confirm both sides of that. Android v4 and v5

I've been consuming v5 since the stone age without any major problems. Is V5 ready for consumption? I’ve been thinking about it but I have things running so well - while learning to live with the quirks.

V5I’ve found that the perfect temperature for the house is 22.5 C and the furnace set to come on when it drops half a degree. Problem is you can’t set a variable to a fraction. Only way I can think to overcome this is to multiply by 10 somehow. Is this possible?

I have found my applet in various places over the years. Look in the start pullup menu under ISY.I have tried many many times...clicking on admin.jnlp starts a download from I assume my ISY994i, and the "finder" automatically opens up. I have no idea where the downloaded console app is going. It is not going to my desktop as the guide says.

I can't seem to get it not send off commands. It turns on fine when i walk in the room, but the second it senses no motion it turns off. It's my office, so I want it to turn on when i walk in, but if I'm sitting at my desk it turns off after like 30 seconds. How can I fix this?
The "send On commands only' option need to be selected so that only ISY programs control the Off cycle.

I do not know how you determined that my updates are " only about every four and a half minutes"!! The entire sequence I presented happened in 27 seconds! I am confused by your comment...
I will leave the technical understanding, of whether or not the ISY is being polled, to those in the know... however I used the term 'polling' because, as I see it, the ISY on it's own does not churn out that many events for my thermostat. It only happens when the "Live Update" linkage between the Portal and the Echo are enabled!
Yeah... four and a half seconds! That is too frequent!
Sorry. My bad. Must be our time zone difference.
-
The stat works fine! The problem only arises when it's being polled continuously by the Echo through the Portal with Live Update enabled! I did not have this issue with V2 of the ISY skill.
The stat is a Venstar 2491T
The stat is connected to the furnace and is not on an adapter.
Normally, my stat only has event instances when things change... My conclusion is that it's not the stat but it is something that is happening with the ISY Skill v3 and the Live Update
Benoit... looking at my events a lot of times nothing appears to change and yet it keeps resending the same data over and over!!
Your updates for each parameter are only about every four and a half minutes. That isn't unreasonable for any polled data system. Less than that you would get into human noticeable delays.
I don't understand the polling you are referring to. I didn't know anything had to poll ISY, but rather ISY initiated the push of any events to the subscriber, after the initialisation dump.
-
Ok... I finally got back to this.
I had not disabled the thermostat in the Admin Console on the ISY and yet the continuous polling had stopped, so the thermostat was not the issue.
Tonight, first in the Portal, I turned off the "Live Update" and then did an "Add" to put the Thermostat back in as a Device. This caused no polling issues on the ISY.
Next, I opened up the alexa.amazon.com app, on my PC, and did a "Discover". This found the thermostat and listed it in the Devices list. Still no polling issues on the ISY.
Next, I went back to the Portal and enabled "Live Update"... almost immediately the continuous polling on the ISY started again!!
Here is an excerpt of my event viewer for 27 seconds before I turned off the "Live Update"

For the time being, I think I will have to delete the thermostat from my Echo devices as it is completely bogging down my system!
Look like a defective stat. I assume this is an Insteon 2441?TH.
Insteon devices are not polled by ISY typically. They report using push technology when things change.
The 2441ZTH (note 'Z') will send humidity "CLIHUM" every about 45 seconds IIRC on AC power (adapter) and about every 5 minutes on batteries.
You don't happen to have the stat powered from an AC adapter with a bad power supply filter capacitor, do you?

Yeah, if only we had won the Battle of Quebec in 1775, you wouldn't have these problems. I will let you decide which problem is worse!

Ouch! I think we did but were too darn nice. N'est-ce pas?
This brings up a good question. "Does Alexa understand French?"...or even Spanish?...from testing just now...nope.

If you read the description of the Alexa App in the store, it says : "The new capabilities are available to customers with phones on Android 5.0 or later." Also, it was said here many times that the new features are not available in a browser (any browser) but only in the phone app.

Good catch! That would explain a lot of the problems. Thanks FallenAngel!!!
I would be sure the Canadian location problems should have all gone away that I had before. This and previous major vs minor geo problems have confused the troubleshooting.
Amazon is definitely playing OS favourites here! Again some brands lose out
Now the decision to be made. A few Google Homes are a far cry cheaper than a a new android mobile phone. I only have five amazon devices so far.
Maybe a different browser on my android tablet may make it work but for now I don't see any more effort to make this work. it would be nice to make the intercom feature work but that shouldn't need a permanent usage of an android 5 or later.
Now I have to figure out why all my Dots and Echoes blurped as loud as they can go, and now have yellow throbbing on top for the last four hours, after reloading the android 5 app again. They all HA function still
-
I cannot for the life of me understand why there would be a system in place to disable specific functionality in an app like this based on region or account. I can see such a system for limiting streaming content or live events, but why in the hell would Amazon care if Canadians had the implicit targeting feature for their Alexa devices?!? That makes no sense whatsoever!
There are certain things not allowed in Canada for various political and economical reasons. Right now I am discovering huge differences between browser versions.
Google chrome on my Android 6.0 tablet is not allowed to access the app due to it being reported as "not compatible".
My Notebook with win 7 x 32 using IE 11 cannot access the web page version. The "Remember me", "Show Password" and "Log in" buttons have been disabled so no access can be had there.
My desktop with win 10 using IE 11 can load the webpage but none of the new features work...yet.
My mobile Android 4.2.? loads and runs the app just fine but no new features are enabled...yet. This is changing weekly as features seem to get enabled.
My mobile Android 5.? device, after removing everything and reinstalling (it wouldn't update or recognised it needed to) seems to have all the features now! AFAICT That's one success so far.
-
I have not looked into 'Groups' so far and cannot claim to have any deep understanding of what they do... having said that, what is the difference between creating a Smart Home group on the mobile app or creating a Smart Home group on my PC on the amazon app?
Many claim they can add an amazon device into a group. That way they can use commands like.
- Alexa... Turn on the light.
and alexa will know what room you are in, and operate the correct room's light using the same generic device command in any room.
-
The Alexa mobile app is needed to create Smart Home Groups that contain an Alexa device (Echo, Dot, etc.) to enable the “implicit targeting” feature.
Alexa devices are not avialabe in my mobile apps on three different mobile devices. This is somehow account related using the latest version.
And yes, the whole system has been disabled, forgotten, removed, deleted, reloaded, sideloaded, many times.
Google support has only responded with the canned "reset it" help, so far.
Ecobee immediately admitted they have many complaints from that end and are working on their connections. I have seen one improvement there, so far, with the response arbitration working now.

Ok I read and tried what you guys wrote and each time I had the same results as before! It didn't matter in which order (I tried them all!)!
So I did another "Forget All" and deleted V2 and V3. Then I went into the Portal and first, turned off Live Update, then secondly I went into the Portal "My Profile" and selected 'Unlink Amazon account' and 'Save'. Then I returned to the alexa.amazon.com app (on my PC) and enabled the v3 skill and went through the authorization to link the account with the Portal. Finally, I did "Rediscover" and I now seem to have the right things in the right order with no duplicates.
On my phone, everything looks right... the Device tab only shows actual devices each with light bulb icons and the scenes and programs are showing in the Scenes tab. Not sure about the usefulness of this app though because the Office Light still shows as Off when it really is On and the screen still has the warning "There was a problem"... and as I stated, in my earlier post, Mobilinc is a better tool to see the status of my lights. If the key purpose is to modify the set up for Alexa (new skills...etc) then I will stick to the browser on my PC! Am I missing something about this app?
I can't see any statuses at all and there is no control either in my app. Every week or so I find another feature working that others have been using for months. Very weird.
- I use the alexa app mostly for a grocery shopping list. Best feature alexa has other than HA. User named lists just started functioning this week for me also.
- Alexa....add chocolate!
- .....Chocolate is added to your shopping list.
- Alexa....add chocolate to my Costco list!
- ....chocolate is added to your Costco list.
only trouble is loading the app takes about 45-60 seconds in the store. Too slow!
-
ewind, I have a program for each and every battery powered device like the one you posted (post #15) except that I do not have the 2 second wait and, most importantly, all those programs are disabled. I enable them as needed and then disable them again. Otherwise, you'll use up the battery faster.
That's because sending an on or off takes only an instant, but updating takes time and the battery is being used during the entire update writing process.
I discovered another problem with leaving them run. It was missing some signal into ISY, but I cannot remember what it was exactly. I also had to disable the programs and just re-enable when needed.
Stop all running programs

Folders can be nested. Just drop your folders involved into another folder temporarily with a condition until you are done testing or keep them that way.
