Is Logitech Harmony Hub compatible with ISY?
Ok, thats different. What you're saying is you are using echo harmony skill to control harmony Activities via voice. Yes, as I stated in my post above that is very doable and I find it works quite well. But, this has nothing to do with ISY. however, this is not what the poster asked for. He asked how to control harmony via ISY, not via echo voice. having said this, you did teach me something new, which is that using echo one can trigger a echo group, effectively a simple macro, which in your case includes and ISY command. Thanks for that! The alternate way to accomplish the same: using Harmony add ISY as a device and on your TV activity include light on off dim etc. I would do it that way so whether I am using echo or harmony remote the light does the same thing. Further, you can control that specific light during the watch TV activity via Harmony by making a hard or soft button on your harmony remote dedicated to that lights control.

Is Logitech Harmony Hub compatible with ISY?
Yes but the critical and vital diference is that harmony wont be in sync because you have failed to trigger a harmony "activity" eg harmony still thinks tv is off so could turn it on via remote when you want to turn it off. With what you said, might as well omit harmony and use isy only for avcontrol (not my desire).

Is Logitech Harmony Hub compatible with ISY?
I am in on this topic too: - controling isy from harmony is very doable and straightforward: just add a wire (of any length) with ir "bleeper" at output end, from harmony hub ir out to isy ir in. One is somewhat limited by the number of IR commands isy will allow. with a bit more complexity this can be overridden by program-folder commands to multiply the number of IR commands. If you're within the base isy ir limit it's very simple -- as to triggering harmony activities from Isy: yes, this is still a work in progress… Absolutely isyhelper is fantastic! And Jimbo deserves very high marks! On the other hand, it does require RPI and I am not thrilled by that and I have looked at workarounds. I actually find Amazon echo to be very good but it's not isy controlled it's voice controlled. I have not tried IFTTT but I understand it works with some delay. Like others, I wish Isy would integrate with the harmony API, which in theory is very doable,in practice maybe not?? Alternatively if Isyhelper would work natively within isy without need for RPI that would also be great!! Bottom line as far as I know after much investigation and smile, there is still no perfect solution for controlling ISY from Harmony, Although if you're up for RPI, isyhelper is fantastic

Control your Nest Thermostat with the ISY *Multi-Thermostat*
Oh, cool. Is the "how-to" in this thread or on the forum? If so do you mind pointing me towards it? Am i correct that home/away is not Isy-only? Thanks

Control your Nest Thermostat with the ISY *Multi-Thermostat*
...i dont know enough to know what that means. Are you saying one can currently do tempeture adjustments "Isy-only". Thanks
-
Control your Nest Thermostat with the ISY *Multi-Thermostat*
Likely asking for the (currently) impossible, but i would love to see this as ISY-only i.e. without the need for external server, eventghost etc...just wishing. Thanks

Custom Etched KPL Buttons
If others were to get a similar engraver, are the settings/designs shareable? If so are you willing to share? How do you make the designs? I've never used an engraver.

The Global Cache WF2IR works
Hi For reference, I just now set up my iTach Flex with rs232 cable to control Denon AVR X4000. Previously I was controlling the Denon from the ISY via its IP control commands using ISY network resources. In the case of Denon I believe they use an IP based rs232 command set in that configuration. To control via ISY-> iTech Flex w rs232 cable all I did was as follows: Copy existing IP control network resource, eg power-on (the network resources for Denon IP control are available for download from the ISY wiki link). Edit the NR commend changing: IP to IP address of Flex Port to 4999 That's it. No other changes required. Thus for the Denon (and Onkyo?), download from the wiki and use Flex IP and port 4999 with serial cable. In the case of Denon the NR are: -TCP -C escaped -timeout 4000ms -end command with ... \r Note: As stated, Denon and I believe Onkyo have published IP serial commands. These are NOT the same as trying to convert IR commands. These same IP commands are easily sent via the rs232 cable. I hope this helps others.

Thanks a lot!! Do you use aeon smart plugs and do you know polling etc settings you recommend?

Normal Polling Frequency: What is it for Insteon and Zwave?
Thanks for that info. Im sure I can research and find the answer, but if you know off the top of your head or very minimal looking, do you know what settings tend to work and where/how one configures them? Im not looking for a roadmap, just a short description. Thanks Xathros!

Normal Polling Frequency: What is it for Insteon and Zwave?
With energy reporting devices i.e. iSoloMeter and Z wave smart plugs, the data changes but is not immediately updated to Isy based on my experience. That being the case I'm wondering what is the update frequency? It is starting to look like the iMetersolo never updates and must always be pulled by a program. I'm not sure what the frequency is for Z wave. I'm also not sure if there are other Instion devices like the imeter that require polling Thanks

iMeter Solo and Energy Display
Hi Its not clear if the following has been your experience, but it is mine: -I am able to add the iMeterSolo (the plug other things plug into) to ISY. -It reports power (w) and energy (kwh) -I can set variables based on its current Watts but only based on =/>/</etc, I cannot populate a variable with its exact Watt value. -As far as I can determine its value needs to be polled via a program on whatever interval is desired. It does not seem to update automatically. Thus, for programs looking for a power value between x and y, (such if an amplifier is in standby, or a single Zone is on, or if multiple zones are on (based on Watt value within known ranges)) it is useful. Is this consistent with your findings?

Programming "If" for ANY change to device status??
Thanks. This additional detail is very helpful! I wish this was documented in the wiki or user-guide. I appreciate your clarity.

Thanks for the reply. I find what you describe for lights, etc, but not for other "data" eg power.

Normal Polling Frequency: What is it for Insteon and Zwave?
Hi I am trying to determine if I need to manually query devices in programs to get triggers based on readings, or if the "normal" polling frequency and reliability is sufficient. In this particular case a program sets a variable based on the power lever (watts) reported on an iMeterSolo. (I do the same for Zwave Smart Plugs/Switches). The variable then triggers programs. If I want the variable (and thus the programs) to be accurate for any 5 minute interval, i.e. not be incorrect for longer than 5 min, do I need to query the energy meter to be safe, or am I good based on underlying poling frequency/reliability? I imagine the answer may be different for battery devices?? Are there generally accepted times for reliable automatic polling? Thanks

Programming "If" for ANY change to device status??
Thanks again. Im trying to get this to sink in. One thing I note now, is that you initially said "On" or "Not On". You did not sat "On" or "Off", which I mistakenly read, so my comment about the dimmer was not valid. To your wider point, you are saying that "Status" is the current state of something vs "Control" which is the controlling device, e.g. a switch, physically being changed (or possibly being virtually changed via a program. I forget if programs can do this to a switch). I believe you are also saying the trigger is ALWAYS the CHANGE in Status. Thus, as you said, regardless of something's current state, the trigger occurs when the state changes as long as the change is within the parameters of the IF statement. Thus if the IF encompasses all possible states, ANY change will trigger the program. Finally I believe you are saying, the trigger is not a question of whether the status of the device is true/false, only if a future change in state of the device will fall within the limits of the IF statement. Do I have this conceptually correct now? Thanks for your help

Programs: The initial "And" or "Or"?
thanks to both of you Yes, I agree it would be more clear if the initial statement did not have And or OR as options, but it does.
-
Programming "If" for ANY change to device status??
Thanks so much! The wording is NOT intuitive. I have always assumed status is a current state, not tht it picks up changes to the state. Thus, with your program above, I thought that would always have a "true" status and thus be meaningless. Also, because my device is a light controlled by a dimmer, it appears that there is no "On", but instead 1-99 dim levels, thus it would seem I need to have 100 conditions (99+ off) Ignoring all the normal understanding of words, does your program still do it for ANY change of the light's state?

Programs: The initial "And" or "Or"?
In a program, does it matter if the first "If" statement begins with And or OR, or does that only matter for the subsequent IF statements?

Programming "If" for ANY change to device status??
Hi I cant seem to find the answer to what I imagine is an easy question: I want my program to respond to ANY change to a device. Is there an easier way than saying: If Control (Old) 'Kit Hl D2 Din Hang' is switched On Or Control (Old) 'Kit Hl D2 Din Hang' is switched Off Or Control (Old) 'Kit Hl D2 Din Hang' is switched Fast On Or Control (Old) 'Kit Hl D2 Din Hang' is switched Fast Off Or Control (Old) 'Kit Hl D2 Din Hang' is switched Fade Up Or Control (Old) 'Kit Hl D2 Din Hang' is switched Fade Down Or Control (Old) 'Kit Hl D2 Din Hang' is switched Fade Stop Or Control (Old) 'Kit Hl D2 Din Hang' is switched Bright Or Control (Old) 'Kit Hl D2 Din Hang' is switched Dim Then - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') In my case I want to trigger some things bases on ANY change to ANY light. I will have to repeat the above for EVERY light and have a massively long program. I had hoped "Is Responding" was the key, but now understand that has to do with communication with the PLM, not change of status. Is there a simple way to do this? Thanks [EDIT: Sorry, I meant to put this under Questions, not Tutorials section of the forum]
