  1. Thanks everyone, I got it working the way I want, took some trial and error because my wiring was similar but not the same as any of the examples in the Keypadlinc manual, so used a pair of non 3-way old switches first just to confirm which was the load, and that the red was a traveller and not some lazy person using it for something else. The way it is now, is the red traveller is capped at both ends, and in the kitchen I have a KPL switch 8 button, connected just to the line or load, I forget which, the black one that goes to the KPL beside it, and the other red is just capped, so basically the KPL isn't connected to any load. Upstairs I originally hadn't touched the switch other than changing it to a non 3-way one to test which seemed to work fine, but I would lose control of the fan from the kitchen so figured should do it properly in case it is something with code. So because I don't have any switchlinc's that are a switch vs dimmer, and only had a spare 8 button KPL switch, I decided to just put that one in. That one was the huge pain, took so many tries to get it right because it doesn't match the diagrams in the manual. So I finally just stopped and looked where the wires were going, and thought about it from a schematics view and then it made sense and worked right away. So I then made a scene to link the KPL A button from downstairs to the KPL A load button upstairs, which is fine as that's 16 buttons downstairs side by side so pretty much just enough anyway so I am fine with it showing fan downstairs. Plus by putting the KPL there (which I may switch to a switchlinc SWITCH if I don't have a need for KPL buttons), I can put a hidden door sensor to turn the fan on when the door closes etc as I have a spare sensor as well from my front door when I just installed a Schlage lock. So far so good, thanks everyone!!!
  2. It's in the kitchen due to some code here, I googled it before and seemed to be a local thing. I put a KPL on both now, one on the fan and one in the kitchen after I read the actual manual and saw they have wiring diagrams to make it work. So now the KPL in the kitchen turns the fan upstairs on by a scene. I'd have preferred a switchlinc on the fan but I only have dimmers, but a spare KPL was a switch so will make it work.
  3. Thanks!
  4. Just realized my 6 button KPL switches can turn into an 8 button one which is much better for me for some of them. Is it possible to do something similar but instead keep the top 2 buttons as 1, but be a toggle for the load, so ON/OFF by pressing it? Then I'll have the 4 smaller square buttons like normal, but replace the bottom rectangle "OFF" button which turns the load off by default, with 2 square buttons? So one rectangle on top, and then 6 squares below? Or does it have to be either 6 or 8?
  5. On my second floor bathroom there's a fan in there, and then in the kitchen there's another switch that also controls that fan. It's been explained to me many times why the 2nd floor bathroom fan also has a switch in the kitchen but I can never remember the reason other than I know it's normal. Anyway in my kitchen there's 2 switches, it plus a KPL beside it for the kitchen light. I have some spare 8 button KPLs which are dimmers, and then 6 button which are switches. Is there any way at all to use either of these in that fan so that I can have 2 KPLs beside each other? I'm assuming the 8 button ones which are dimmers aren't good for the fan, and if I can convert the 6 scene ones which are just a switch, to an 8 button one that would be ideal. The issue is the 3 way fan thing. If I installed the KPL here, would it just mean I have to keep the KPL load turned on all the time for the fan to work and be controlled upstairs? I don't want to control it from the kitchen at all, I just want to put a KPL where the switch for it is and it just happens to be a fan vs another switch.
  6. Got it thanks had to do ip:port/admin. Accessing http://ISY would never work as there's no entry in DNS pointing to the ISY since no need. Also I'm talking about in general with the VPN not now.
  7. I always access it while on my local network at http://isy.universal-devices.com/99i however 2 problems: 1) If I'm not at home and I VPN into my house, that link never works even though my active directory domain controller is controlling the VPN, and when on the VPN every other program and application acts like I'm at home. 2) My DSL modem is fried, can't get a new one for a few days so I have zero Internet until then, so accessing that URL above doesn't work at all. I'm tethered on my phone right now, so how would I access the admin page without Internet access, as accessing it by IP just goes to the web interface. Thanks!
  8. Great yeah I'm not in any rush to get Z-Wave was just wondering for future. At first I thought I really don't need the ISY, since I can use the Lutron motion switches no problem and away we go. I also realized right as I was sending it back that it was control vs status that was hanging me up, but I was tired of it by then. I learned quickly the Lutron won't work everywhere, since my bathroom ensuite I don't want it coming on at night, and in my guest bathroom the light switch is outside in the hall so no go there either. I was also going to buy HomeSeer since I really like it but once in awhile I'd get weird results with the Insteon plugin so I figure just get the device that works the absolute best with it. I think part of it too was while buying gear my Visa declined, so I assumed I somehow maxed it out and that's when I started regretting buying everything. Turns out it was just some random error and I wasn't anywhere near my limit but in my mind I kept thinking I guess that I had spent so much really just as a nice have vs need. So we're all good now, motion programs work as expected.
  9. I did return it then bought it again 2 days later after I realized I might as well just do this all right. Not sure how to buy from UDI directly, when you check out it says Country and the drop down only has United States.
  10. I buy everything mainly from Aartech as they are one of the only resellers that come up on Insteon's page and they are great, but when I asked them where I buy the $100 Z-Wave module, they said that UDI hasn't certified it yet or something and therefore they can't sell it and have no ETA. The other US resellers don't have options to ship to Canada and Smarthome is like $40 for shipping which is obviously way overpriced. Not in any rush to get it but do I have any options if and when I do need it?
  11. Answered my own question lol. Just wrote a quick one: If Status "Garage Door Control" is On Then Wait 3 Seconds Set "Garage Door Control" Off Else Set "Garage Door Control" Off Works great.
  12. Is there a setting that is better for the garage door opener? I see options like Program Lock, Key Beep, LED on TX, Relay Follows Input, Send X10, Trigger Reverse, Momentary hold time, then Latching, Momentary A, B or C. The door works right now as is on C and was on B before I think, but only sending the On command would open the door which I think might be normal. My issue is more with MobiLinc it always shows On and Off, so to use MobiLinc to control the door I have to press the Icon to make it go On, the door opens, then to close I have to press it again to make it go off, then press it again to On to make the door close. If I wanted to reopen it's the same thing, press to make it go off, then again to go On. Is there a way to set it so that devices and so on only send On and can't send an Off mainly MobiLinc? Not sure if this is a MobiLinc issue or something set in the ISY. I suppose I could write a program that says if Control Garage Door Control is ON, wait 2 seconds and set status garage door control to OFF. Thanks!
  13. I think it's just the nature of the program, because if you have the admin console open on your laptop when you walk in, you can see it running through the program and doing different things. It's really no issue, maybe a 1 second delay for the LED to come on vs the rest. As I was just walking in there now though I'm realizing it's prob much better to get a KPL in a place like this where there's times you want one light on vs the other or disable motion etc instead of using fast off to disable it and so on. That would be handy maybe in a guest bath if you wanted to disable it for 3 hours because you're doing work or something. I think a KPL in this situation is better since I can have the big On/Off for both lights, a button to turn just one on vs the other, a button that just straight up disables motion and one that reenables it and so on. I def would love to hear feedback on my program though in terms of how it's written, if this is generally the right idea of if this is less than ideal etc!
  14. Thanks I was highlighting the actual scene and thinking I changed it there, but when I click the controller of the scene and then change the LED bulb to 10% it maintains it. Thanks!
  15. That's the only negative I have with the Insteon LEDs, if you have them Off and remove them, they stay off even if you move them to a different house. So unless you leave them on and then unplug them, they can't be used as normal lights somewhere else. Found that was a pain when moving them, as I'd have them turned off, then want to move one into maybe a closet which was dark, so removing the old bulb would leave you in the dark and putting in the new one would as well! Be nice if maybe turning the load on and off 5 times within 5 seconds would force it on or something as a backup.
  16. I'm not quite sure how to do this properly, as in the Wiki it shows you click the Scene and it will list all devices with a Status column to pick brightness etc, but I don't have that, instead it's a "Current State" column. I tried making the light 10% on there which it did, but as soon as you turn the scene on or off it just goes back to 100%. Thanks!
  17. How do I do the scene test? I know on HomeSeer I could see status of links but I don't have any scenes made here, just right clicked ISY in admin page and clicked Scene Test but nothing happened, not sure where I see the results. It's not really bad, like the light comes on almost instantly, then the shower LED is just a second behind. You press off on the wall, the light immediately goes off, then the shower takes a second and does also.
  18. The one that buzzes is in my kitchen, it's just a 3 bulb ceiling light with LED bulbs on it, the small ones GU10 or something, 3 diff manufacturers of them and they all buzz at different levels. I removed the Switchlinc and no buzzing at all.
  19. Hey everyone, so I got my ISY back again and I actually got my programs working, even doing more than originally planned. I feel like it might be a bit long though so thought I'd post to see if there's tips on making it more efficient, or if not at least helping out people in the future. Everything works, there's just a bit of a delay turning the shower light on, maybe 1-2 seconds so not sure if that can be fixed. The set up is I have a Switchlinc in my ensuite bathroom which controls the main lights in there, and then I have a Insteon LED in the shower and leave that switch always on. Here's what it should do: Between 9am to 12pm if motion is detected, turn both of the lights on for 15 minutes, resetting that every time there's more motion, then turn both of them off. If someone walks in the bathroom and hits on, the lights still come on as normal, and if they hit off as they leave, the lights go off, and motion is disabled for 10 seconds, so that it doesn't turn the lights on again as they leave. If someone does a Fast Off on the switch, it turns the lights off and disables motion for 2 hours. You can still press up on the switch to manually turn both on, and press off to turn them off, without resetting the motion. If you press Fast On on the switch, the lights come on, and the motion program is reset, should you wish to enable motion sooner than 2 hours. If the time is between midnight and 9am, then everything is the same, except motion only turns the shower LED on and only to 10% so that it doesn't flood you with lights walking in. Here's the programs: Disable Motion If $sMasterMotion is 3 Then Wait 2 hours $sMasterMotion = 0 Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Fast Off If Control 'Master Bath Light' is switched Fast Off Then $sMasterMotion = 3 Set 'Master Bath Light' Fast Off Set 'Shower LED' Fast Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Fast On If Control 'Master Bath Light' is switched Fast On Then Set 'Shower LED' Fast On Set 'Master Bath Light' Fast On $sMasterMotion = 0 Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Motion Off If Control 'Master Bath Sensor-Sensor' is switched Off And $sMasterMotion is not 3 Then Wait 15 minutes Set 'Master Bath Light' Off Set 'Shower LED' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Motion On Day If Control 'Master Bath Sensor-Sensor' is switched On And $sMasterMotion is not 3 And From 9:00:00AM To 11:59:00PM (same day) Then Set 'Master Bath Light' On Set 'Shower LED' Fast On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Motion On Night If Control 'Master Bath Sensor-Sensor' is switched On And $sMasterMotion is not 3 And From 12:00:00AM To 9:00:00AM (same day) Then Set 'Shower LED' 10% Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Switch Off 1 If Control 'Master Bath Light' is switched Off And $sMasterMotion is not 3 Then Set 'Master Bath Light' Off Set 'Shower LED' Fast Off Disable Program 'Motion On Day' Disable Program 'Motion On Night' Wait 10 seconds Enable Program 'Motion On Night' Enable Program 'Motion On Day' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Switch Off 2 If Control 'Master Bath Light' is switched Off And $sMasterMotion is 3 Then Set 'Shower LED' Fast Off Set 'Master Bath Light' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Switch On If Control 'Master Bath Light' is switched On Then Set 'Master Bath Light' Fast On Set 'Shower LED' Fast On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') So that's it, and it seems to work so far! There's 2 Switch Off programs because I wasn't sure how to do that all in 1. Basically switching the light off disables motion for 10 seconds, but I needed to write 2 programs to account for what happens when the switch is turned off while the 2 hour motion delay happens, as the default program would reenable motion. Also the shower light does Fast Off/On vs On/Off just because I had the local ramp level set wrong so On/Off wouldn't work only Fast On/Off, but there's no purpose for it otherwise. The only issue I have is that motion triggers the bathroom lights immediately, but the shower lights are sometimes delayed 1 second or if you make lots of changes fast the ISY can't keep up I guess due to the length of the program, so the odd time pressing fast up to reenable motion will cause the lights to go on, but then the main one flashes off and immediately back on and it's done, only once in awhile though. I'd love to hear feedback though on what I could maybe change or improve or make more efficient since I think it seems like a lot of programs to accomplish this. Glad I didn't give up though, biggest trick is writing out every possible scenario first and then figuring out how to deal with it. Thanks!
  20. Yes that was it! I didn't even know what that field did, set it to 100 and it works now thanks!
  21. Any idea why one of my LED's would do this? If I press On in the admin console, or set motion, or timers or anything to make the light go On, it never does. It shows status is Off and never tries to turn on. If I do Fast On it works fine, or any dim level, and Off as well as Fast Off work, just On does nothing. Any idea what might cause that or where to troubleshoot? Very strange!
  22. Don't mean to hijack this thread but had sort of a similar question. I have some of the dimming ones and they all make the lights buzz really bad, even at 100% on. Replaced it with a normal Lutron motion switch and it's fine. If I don't care about dimming and use just the S version, should I expect there to still be buzzing or is that more due to the dimming feature?
  23. Oh that program I just made up as an example to explain what I meant, I don't actually have any need to do that. I was writing a program to delay setting off security alerts if the doors are opened when the house is in Away mode and it popped up. Was easier to use the 3 lights example instead of mine
  24. That's great thanks so much, stumbled upon that by accident and was wondering why it was happening but now it will be so much easier to code.
  25. I think the answer is yes based on the program I just wrote and noticed working. If I have conditions like: If Status Kitchen Light is On And Status Laundry Light is On And Status Bathroom Light is On Then control Living Room Light On Wait 30 minutes control Living Room Light Off Else no action So basic example, I turn all 3 of those lights on the If becomes true, lights go on and we wait 30 minutes. If I turn the Bathroom light off, am I correct in that the If is no longer true therefore the program stops? And if I turn the bathroom light back on, If is now true and the 30 minutes starts over? I'd assume that no actions after the "Wait 30 minutes" would occur once any of the If conditions are no longer true? Thanks!
