My day 2 report is up! Same link, just scroll down the page: http://www.techav.com/ehx/ehxfall2007.htm

Hey guys - I booked my EHX trip a while ago, so maybe it was someone else who said they wouldn't be able to make it.
-
I did up a quick review of the ISY-26. If anyone is thinking of purchasing one, here it is on my site: http://www.techav.com/udi/isy26.htm

I haven't heard anything about IR transmission, but what an interesting idea....
-
I had an ApplianceLinc with a .00. address (sent to Michel for testing), and never saw this.
-
Weird issue. Haven't seen that here, I have 3 or 4 LampLincs in my home.
-
I just ran this calculator, and it estimates I'm at 448 links. Wonder how many I'm really at?
-
Is there any chance of the ISY-26 simply checking the PLM and letting us know how many links are being used? Or is it not so easy to determine?
-
I love this feature. I use it all the time with my bathrooms. I double tap on or off to get both lights/fans in my master bath on or off in the AM. If only I could get the ISY-26 to contorl my wholehouse audio.
-
I'm doing this in several rooms here, definitely works.

I have a 4A PLM I use (or will use) for CQC, and a 52 PLM for the ISY-26. The circuit these are all on is protected by GFI (since they're in an unfinished basement), which is another thing I've seen a couple people say cause problems. Go figure.

Funny thing is with any of these powerline technologies is how everyone's experiences & setups differ so much. At the moment, I have an X10 RF transceiver, X10 powerline interface, a PLC, and 2 PLMs all on the same circuit - separate by about 20 feet of romex - and my ISY-26 is very reliable. I'm not currently using my PLC or 2nd PLM, but I would think even having them plugged in might cause issues. I do have an AccessPoint piggybacked onto my ISY-26's PLM, however.
-
Glad to hear you got it going. Scenes are definitely the way to go for virtual 3-way circuits and other links whenever possible. Not only will this produce a near-instant response, but they will also continue to function if something happens to the ISY-26 and/or PLM (lockup, someone accidentally unplugs, etc..) I run a bunch of triggers here that we use pretty regularly (fast on/off triggers, X10 remote control, etc.). Though I've had PLM lockups during heavy duty traffic (1st time switch discovery, creating a large # of links, etc.), I haven't had one during normal everyday usage (yet). Knock on wood.

Try plugging one of your AccessPoints onto the back of the PLM to improve signal communications in and out.

Hi Michel - I can send you my ApplianceLinc if you'd like. Let me know, drop me an email.
-
I have mine sitting on my bench, hopefully get to play with it sometime soon.
-
I'm constantly re-thinking mine. Do you have an Elk M1? I just purchased one, and am hoping it will serve as a good bridge between CQC and the ISY-26 for me.
-
I've tried to do the same with CQC. Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck. Really sucks because my time and money investment in CQC has so far been wasted.
-
I think UDI is very aware of this need. My understanding is that the touchscreen manufacturer and UDI are communicating, so hopefully something will come of that.
-
Is there a reason you're triggering the load switch from the slave switch? Any reason you're not simply creating a scene that contains both switches, with the slave switch being a controller? That would make the response time once again instantaneous.
-
Well, you've found yourself a partner.
-
Interesting... The only device I have here with a .00. in the middle of the address is an ApplianceLinc. The ISY-26 controls it fine during my normal schedules (it's part of my holiday lighting scenes). But, if I manually control it (say, send an ON command), the status doesn't change to ON. However, if I do a query on it, that status does update and show that it's ON. Same thing if I try to turn it OFF. Weird..
-
Thanks for the update Michel! You and the ISY-26 have convinced me that the ISY-26 should be the center of the Insteon universe. Every controller type device should communicate through it, and the ISY-26 should communicate to the Insteon network through the PLM. That would make things a heck of a lot easier. To anyone who doesn't want to buy an ISY-26, I say "screw 'em".
-
Would it be possible for the ISY-26 to have a 'dummy device' that we could add so that way it doesn't overwrite links to foreign PLMs (and other devices)? I'd personally love everything to integrate directly with the ISY-26, but unfortunately some devices do not. Even though it's been on hold for months, I plan on resurrecting my CQC project sometime soon. CQC interfaces with Insteon through a PLM.

I don't think that will work because, for example, the instant you set "Alarm Coach Lights" ON, the status of "Coach Lights @ Front Door" is no longer OFF, and the sub-program will stop running.
