  1. Not an ISY issue at all; just a less-than-commonly-used OSX setting: Settings/Mouse/Enable (check box) secondary click = right click. Learn something new every day!
  2. How does one copy and paste a program (copy the whole program to a new program) Crtl Right on the program name in either detail or summary view doesn't do anything. Was this eliminated in v5? I don't see any other way to do it? Maybe I'm missing something simple? AC v5.3.0, running on mac OSX Mojave, v 10.14.6
  3. OK, all good now - 277 updates downloaded and installed - with the command: curl https://pkg.isy.io/script/update121.sh | sudo bash
  4. Hmm.... the URL seems to be down again today?? Running the curl command with the -s option I'm getting the same return output that xlurker previously was getting: [admin@polisy ~]$ curl https://pkg.isy.io/update121.sh <html> <head><title>302 Found</title></head> <body> <center><h1>302 Found</h1></center> <hr><center>nginx/1.18.0</center> </body> </html> [admin@polisy ~]$ Suggestions? My Polisy is still on 12.1 (see following) John [admin@polisy ~]$ uname -a FreeBSD polisy 12.1-RELEASE-p1 FreeBSD 12.1-RELEASE-p1 r355229 POLISY amd64 [admin@polisy ~]$
  5. Duh, a silly mistake: the red stop sign to the left of a device in the AC means “disabled” ; a red exclamation point means “can’t communicate “. Clicking on “enable” in the drop down menu for the MS and everything is working again. Sometimes one gets so far down in the weeds that you can’t see the forest! However I still do have a couple of technical questions: (1) Can the ISY disable a device on its own? I don’t believe I disabled the MS while trying to diagnose the problem. (2) Does the ISY keep track of the entire link table in a device, including direct links between the device and a sensor? So that using the AC to “restore device” on a factory reset device will restore even such direct device to sensor links?
  6. Hmm....my motion sensor issue is more complicated: The motion sensor IS communicating with and controlling the floodlight switch (a Togglelinc) (years ago, when I first installed this MS, I directly linked it to the Togglelinc to get a faster response of the floodlights turning on). Motion in from of the MS does turn on the floodlights. However motion does not activate another light activated via an ISY program with the MS in the IF clause (which had been working perfectly well for years.) So only the communication or links between the MS and the ISY seem to be the problem. A further odd clue or complication is that the floodlight Togglelinc switch had also glitched around the same time - the AC had the red exclamation point for this switch and it wasn't working with any programs. This is an older (8+ years) Togglelinc and I've had this problem before. In the past, I've just done a factory reset at the switch (pull the set button out, wait 10 seconds, push the set button all the way in and hold until the tone stops), then do a "restore device" from the AC. Which I did this evening before venturing out to the end of my long driveway to retrieve the MS. I didn't think a factory reset, then restore from the AC would be able to fix direct links between the Togglelinc and the MS? I'm thoroughly confused as to what has happened or how to fix it.
  7. One of my motion sensors, an original 2842-222 (4414 rev. 2.4) seems to have given up the ghost after some years outside at the end of my driveway. Its not controlling the floodlights its supposed to and not communicating with the ISY (the AC is showing a red stop sign symbol for all three nodes). Replacing the battery, putting it in "setting" mode, trying to link/relink it with the AC all fail, even though the red motion detection LED works fine, and it goes into the semi-rapid blinking mode after holding the set switch. Anything else that I should try? I have a spare motion sensor and can use it to replace the bad one if necessary, but there doesn't seem to be any option for substituting in the new one for the old one in scenes or programs: Since the old one isn't communicating with the ISY, the menu option "replace xx.yy.zz with .... doesn't appear with the bad sensor (I presume because the ISY would need to read the link table of the old sensor while writing these to the link table in the replacement sensor?). Anything else I should try, before biting the bullet and simply starting all over putting the new sensor into the various scenes and programs the old one sensor was in?
  8. Another possible clue: On the iPad, at the bottom of the page "Version Status: Disconnected" and "ISY Version" is blank rather than "Version 2.2.9-5 Status: Connected" and "ISY Version 5.3.0" on the iMac. Doesn't this suggest that the iOS browsers have not fully completed a connection to the Polisy?
  9. No, the problem is definitely local (on the iPad): At the same time I get the "not connected to server" in a Safari tab on the iPad, I have a browser window open (again, in Safari) on my iMac and Polisy is perfectly happy - connected and updating nodeservers in the ISY. And it can't just be the (iPad) Safari; the same problem occurs with Firefox on the iPad. And the same with either browser on an iPhone. Something in iOS (14)??
  10. Updating the firmware requires logging into the KLF200 via its wifi network - the LAN port cannot be used. The wifi SSID and password are given on the sticker on the bottom of the unit. Once you're connected, go the listed URL, then login with the password shown there as well. This should bring up the web interface; under "connections" there is a tab for "software update"
  11. I think that the "channel 3" reference refers to the channel, as defined by the IO-homecontrol standard, used between the KLF 200 and other Velux products like the skylights or the KLR 200 remote control. My understanding of the API is it is the instruction set for non-IO-homecontrol products to communicate with the KLF 200 via the ethernet connection on the unit. So what we need is a nodeserver written to address the API instructions. I'll happily contribute if your friend can do or help with this (although I'm in Boulder CO, so my contribution might have to be towards a good microbrew!) You should also check to make sure that your KLF 200 is upgraded to firmware version 2.0.0.71. Earlier versions apparently do not have the ability to be controlled via the API (mine was not updated as received.) I can't immediately find & point to the instructions for updating the firmware but will search more carefully and report back.
  12. Michel, In iOS 14 it's not possible to clear just the (Safari) browser cache on the iPad - it clears the browser cache on ALL devices signed into the same iCloud account. I'm loathe to do this since I have an iPhone, two iMacs and a MacBook in my account. I don't have any trouble logging into the Polisy on the iMac. And per Mr Bill's experience, trying to log into the Polisy using Firefox (which I otherwise never use) on the iPad also doesn't work ("Can't connect to server") Doesn't this suggest that the problem isn't with a browser cache?
  13. When I try to connect to my Polisy on my iPad (iOS 14.2) using Safari I get the Polisy Home Screen but with a red error banner ( “Not connected to server.. Try refreshing the page. This will disappear once the connection is re-established. “). Clicking “Login” brings up the username and password fields; completing these and hitting return gives a green “You are now logged in” message but I can’t go any further: the dashboard doesn’t show my installed node servers and the box at the bottom is blank for ISY version and Uptime is “Not Connected”. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong or missing? Thanks
  14. I'm facing the same problem - and was feeling less than enthused with the complexity of a MIMO2, EZIO8SA or multiple IOLincs to control the skylight functions (2 opening skylights both with blinds) Especially since Velux has opened an alternate way to control the KLF 200 by publishing the API (https://velcdn.azureedge.net/~/media/com/api/klf200/technical specification for klf 200 api-ver3-16.pdf) With this it seems that it should be straightforward to write a node server. My coding skills aren't advanced enough for this (I've looked at the node.js template node server) but I would be happy to help and/or test beta versions. I do have a KLF 200 and installed skylights.
  15. How are time intervals in a program IF statement evaluated? I have a small heater in a bedroom closet that I want to turn on (plugged into a insteon on/off module) but only when I'm likely to be going into the closet, i.e. in the morning or late evening. I understand how to program a schedule, so my question is how does the ISY evaluate the IF statement? Only once when the time hits the "FROM" time? Every minute thereafter, until the "TO: time is reached + 1 and the IF statement turns false? I ask because it seems that if the IF statement is reevaluated frequently or every minute it could impose a significant burden on the ISY, while its busy trying to run other programs....
  16. Anthony, Please do. I would certainly like to buy some number more of the kits so that I can keep my color scheme consistent throughout the switches my house. I find the colored light pipes, especially the blue and green, much “softer” and less intrusive than the white or frosted. Decreasing the LED brightness also helps John
  17. Antony, Sorry, no I haven't found any good solution yet. The color scheme I had used in switches across the house was a single green in the switch off position, then a blue "8 pipe" strip in the switch on ramp positions. Somehow I ended up with more of the "8-pipe" green strips than blue strips so I cut out individual pipes from the green 8 strips to make extra green single pipes (note only two "single pipe"s from one 8 strip because of the retention knobs on the 8 strip). When I ran out of blue strips, I switched the color scheme in the garage and shop to red in the off position and yellow 8 strips in the switch on positions. Your idea of 3D printing these would be great; unfortunately I have neither a 3D scanner or printer. If you find someone to help scan and/or print some I would support/purchase. John
  18. I'm trying to integrate control of my opening Velux skylights and blinds into ISY. Velux makes an RF based controller (KLF 200 - https://velcdn.azureedge.net/~/media/marketing/au/downloads/installation instructions/klf200-gb_454069-2016-10.pdf) that can take relay closures and issue RF commands. My question is what insteon or Z-wave relay controllers should I look at? I need 5 independently controllable relays. 5 IOLincs? EZFlora? EZIO (the EZIO 2x4 has 4 inputs but only 2 ouputs; I haven't been able to find the EZIO 8SA online)? Rachio (a box designed for irrigation systems doesn't seem likely to be ideal for skylights and blinds....)? Any other relay controllers that others have used? A CAI Webcontrol board won't work because its outputs are TTL and the KLF calls for "potential-free" contact closures. I have Z-wave so I'm open to that as well. Interestingly Velux seems to have opened alternate ways to control the KLF 200 by publishing the API (https://velcdn.azureedge.net/~/media/com/api/klf200/technical specification for klf 200 api-ver3-16.pdf) but that would require me to persuade someone like IOguy or Einstein32 to write a Velux node server (I'm a biologist, not a coder...) I am running 5.0.15A Thanks.
  19. While ordering several more SwitchLinc dimmers and on-off switches during a recent SmartHome sale, I was annoyed to discover that SmartHome doesn't seem to be offering the LED color change kits anymore. I've found that changing the lightpipes on these switches to green or blue significantly softens some of the harsh brightness of the stock clear lightpipes/white LEDs. Does anybody know of a source for these kits now? (I checked Amazon and eBay and didn't find any) Or might someone have kits that they would be willing to sell or trade (I need green and blue; I have lots of the yellow and red lightpipes). I would like to maintain the same colors throughout the house. John
  20. Benoit, Yes, a similar thank you for fixing this quickly. It seems like a slightly odd logical quirk to have to control a scene by calling it a device, but it does work fine. Happy New Year! John
  21. Benoit,, OK, I will try that later this afternoon (actually at work today....) and report back. Thanks, John
  22. Benoit, No, that doesn't work. When I try to add an action for a scene I get a screen showing "Alexa will turn on (scene name) to 50% brightness", with an "ADD" button below - but no slider or option of any kind to change the % brightness of the scene. John
  23. OK; found it somewhat buried in the wiki. For others: Portal, select tool, information, ISY portal access license. A bit of a panic when I couldn't get Alexa to do anything anymore, but we're friends again now! John
  24. How does one renew a portal subscription? Mine just expired, and now of course Alexa can't control anything. Help! John
  25. Michel, I'm running into exactly the same problem as Craig: when I try to add a scene action to a routine the app shows "Alexa will turn on (scene name) to 50% brightness" , with an "add" button below. All I want to do is turn the scene off. I haven't done as extensive experimentation as he has, nor did I try this with V2; however I get this same behavior with all scenes and regardless of whether I have first turned the scene on in the routine (i.e. I added the scene to the routine "at 50% brightness, then tried to add another action to the same routine, this time to turn the scene off. No luck). ISY firmware and UI are both v5.0.14 John
