  1. I can not ping the device, I think it may be dead. I am going to try and connect to it via USB and a term emu as shannong just recommended. Thanks all. plugged the ISY into my laptop and the driver loaded fine, launched PuTTY but it wouldnt connect. I've sent a message into UD
  2. Sorry for the confusion. I meant to say there is no light at all. I am home now have done the following. Unplugged, removed all cables from ISY, PLM plugged everything back in. The only light the ISY emits is the really bright blue power light. None of the other ligths on the front do anything, including the NIC light on the back.. Once everything was plugged back up, i tried using a different port, then a different cable, then put a known good device onto the ISY's port and that devices still works. so all indications point to either the ISY as a whole not working or possibly just the NIC. I dont remember when the ISY is powered up if the other lights on the front should come on/blink or not..
  3. Xathros, thanks for the reply.. So im at work and don't have it in front of me, but from memory when repluggling the ISY only the blue power light comes up. No other lights blink or make any indication that they are working. My ISY is a static IP of 192.168.1.5 and my DHCP server only assigns dynamic IP's at 192.168.1.100 and above. I have a more complex network than the average user. I use a cisco 24 port managed POE switch and have all of my static devices set in the lower ranges.. Any guests or rarely used devices get DHCP address above 100. I feel confident that I do not have an IP address conflict. Thanks, Gregg P.S the ISY is hardcoded with the IP. I did not use Mac address reservations.
  4. So our entire block suffered a power outtage a few days ago. It took about 2 hours for power to be restored and by that time I was back at work. Last night I noticed several ISY programs were not working and started investigating. I discovered my ISY was not detected on my network. So I went over to the device and unplugged power/replugged it. The blue light came on in the front and so I went back to my laptop to try and log into it. I was not able to login or ping the device. So I went back to the ISY and noticed the link light on the NIC port was not flashing and the same on the switch. I don't know what else to do.. Is it possible the outtage fried the port?? any suggestions.. Thanks all!! Gregg
  5. Hello all, I have a ISY994i/IRpro a bunch of insteon lights and 5 triggerlincs and 2 leak detectors. im running firmware 4.2.15. I have no issues with my system except for this one problem. Randomly I will lose status to all 5 triggerlincs and 2 leak detectors. The isy status just becomes blank, and none of my programs assiociated with those devices work due to the lack of status. The only way I have found to fix them is to hold their set buttons for 5 seconds and do a restore device from the ISY.. that is all fine and dandy to accomplish, but what is killing me is this seems to have every few weeks. So I am constantly having to restore all of those devices. the loss of status is sparadic, and its all 7 of those devices at once, If I notice one not working none of them work. Does anyone have any clue what could be causing this?? my triggerlincs are V.40 leak sensor v.3e Thanks, Gregg
  6. LeeG Thanks for the reply! The admin console has a status for each and every device including my EZIO2x4 The admin console device status does update in real time as KPL/paddles buttons are pressed not sure if I understand the last question. Do you want to know if there is a status change in the ISY or somewhere else when the door is open/closed. the ezio status does NOT change in the ISY when the door opens/closes UNLESS i click on query in the ISY then it will update its status correctly.. Does it sound like i need to do the File | restore modem option? i have not done this before, any precautions i need to take before hand... thanks!!
  7. all, I have an EZIO 2x4 hooked up to control my his/hers garage doors. Ive got those wired magnet sensors wired up to it and its been working for 2 years. every time the garage opens breaking the contact on the magnets the "relay" (im not sure thats the right term) on the ISY shows "ON" meaning the garage is open. it immediatley changes to off once the garage closes and the magnet is back to its base. The other week I upgrade from 2.8.10 to 2.8.13. I had all kinds of trouble with my EZIO not working and saw it addressed quickly by michael and UD. so at the time I went back to 2.8.10. but when i did that the relay (on/off) when garage is open/closed quit working.. If i open the garage the relay doesnt change to ON. however if i do a query in the ISY on "my lighting" it will update to on. same thing when i close the garage it wont update on its own. i have to run query. I also have to do the query on "my lighting" and not on the relay itself. Ive since upgraded to 2.8.14 and now 2.8.15 and i still have the same issue. ive checked and tightened all the wires that are screwed into the IZIO. i've done a factory reset on the device by unplugging for 10 seconds, plug in while holding set button for 10 seconds. ive done restore device thru ISY. but nothing seems to work. I guess i know everything is wired correctly still because if i query it it shows the correct status. i just can't figure out why it doesnt update real time anymore. I have a ton of programs that check the garage open/close to know when we are coming home and leaving and of course non of them work anymore. Sorry if this is long, i was trying to describe the setup and problem accurately and im not sure if i know all the correct terminology so i tried to break it down thanks for any suggestions or input
  8. I'm about to upgrade!! just been lazy. and thanks for the info im going to go back and redo my V00 devices!
  9. Im running ISY 2.8.8. I've noticed that the latest devices that I've installed are showing up in the ISY has having V00. I've added motion sensors, triggerlincs, togglelincs and switchlincs. Do I need to add these in some special way for the ISY to read the versions correctly? Is this normal? ive searched the forum, and saw a couple posts were people stated the version showed V00 but no one mentions it as a problem..... Thanks
  10. I think you can just right click the program and choose run if. I think that will do what you are asking
  11. hmm well my first shot was to do a factory reset on the switchlinc that has been giving me problems. and so far that has seemed to do the trick.. everything is spot on now. but ive only tested it for about an hour. gonna let it run over the coming days to see if it continues to work!!
  12. Thanks everyone for your advise. Im going to try and work thru the suggestions here and whatever else i can think of to try and get this figured out. When i get some more info or maybe even a solution ill update again. thanks!!
  13. I do have 240V with 2 120V legs, and I currently have 2 access points one on each leg. Im also not only trying the scene test option in ISY, but im actually triggering the scene as it would be in a real situation. If i have my web browser open to the ISY when i trigger my scene I will get a message pop up that says "cannot communicate with living room light"
  14. so i pulled the tab on ONE of my new devices and all my scenes started working again as expected. So now that I have narrowed down the culprit how do i go about fixing it. Why is it that when I add an insteon switch my insteon network gets flaky? i thought it was suppose to get better with each device.? could it be i need to rewire that switch and make sure ive got good connections or do i need to add an access point??
  15. oberkc, Thanks for the suggestions, I wanted to remove my new devices to see if they were the culprit but didnt want to unwire them. I didnt even think about just pulling the power tab. Great Idea thanks!! I have not added any devices or changed any lights out, I looked around yesterday to see if my wife made any additions I wasnt aware of. The only thing that changed was swapping out those 4 mechanical switches for insteon ones I will try pulling those tabs tonight!
  16. Hello all. I've recent encoutered an issue and would like some help with trying to troubleshoot the issue. I have a "welcome home" scene that has been working great for 2 years. Basically if all the lights in my house are off, and its past sunset and my garage door opens then i have 2 lights that come on at 40%. basically we never come home to a dark house. This has worked flawlessy for 2 years. I recently bought 4 new insteon devices 2 switchlinc dimmers and 2 togglelinc relays (for my kids rooms and 2 bathrooms) I did NOT include these new lights in the "welcome home" scene. But ever since i added those new devices my welcome home scene only half works. meaning my entry way light comes on, but my living room light doesnt work. It is sporadic, the living room light has come on once or twice I used my ISY to do a scene test and it comes back saying entry way light successfull, living room light fail. If i run the scene test over and over i eventually start getting success for both lights and then failures again. can anyone give me some advice as to how I can start troubleshooting the issue. Im not really sure where to go from here. I do have 2 access points that I could move around if that would help?? i dunno. Thanks
  17. That worked like a charm. Thanks guys!! this forum is the best
  18. so looking at my ISY admin console my dining room light is a switchlinc dimmer V.27 the smarthome model # is (2476D) hmm as i was typing this i knew that i had some switchlinc's that were version v.35 so I set the ramp rate on those and it worked!! soo i guess there is a problem with the V.27???? is there a fix for these? thanks for the info LeeG!!
  19. I'm using my ISY99i to set the on level and ramp rates on all my light switches to help increase bulb life. When I go into the ISY and set the on level to 80% then manually turn on my switchlinc the light correctly turns on at 80%. but when i set the ramp rate to say 10 seconds or any setting actually and then manually turn the light on it immediatley turns on at 80%.. i would expect it to ramp up slowly and take 10 seconds to get to 80%.. am i doing something wrong?? or is this possibly a known issue? ive searched the forum but did not find anything that seemed to fit my situation.. i very well could of missed it though.. thanks for your help
  20. yes the outletlinc shuts down and does not respond to any insteon commands. until i flip my breaker off and back on.. then it will respond to an insteon off, and the process repeats after an insteon on..assuming the AC unit is plugged in. The outletlinc itself works fine if i plug a basic light into it...
  21. I don't want to hijack this thread, but it looks like the activity is dying down So I would like to pose a question. I have a similar setup as the OP. I'm tryin to control an AC units on and off times but im using an Outletlinc. My problem is when I send and ON command to the outletlinc the AC unit turns on, but then fairly quickly turns off again. It seems that the outletlinc shuts down. and the only way to fix it is to actually flip my breaker off and then back on.. The AC will run fine if the outletlinc is already in the on position. but if i set it to off and then back on it does again. like others im not much of an eletrician and have no idea why this is happening. does anyone have any idea or advice on a way around this issue. Ive been thinking for a while that i could get an applicancelinc instead of the outletlinc but havent gotten around to spending the money, and not even sure if it will work. thanks guys

  23. Michael The AND statement is so i can push the A on my KPL and keep the garage open all the time, (in case im working outside or something). I would like the IF/ THEN statement to continue to run as long as the IF portion is true. it seems that once the THEN part runs the first time, it doesnt continue to run even tho the IF portion is still true
  24. as far as hardware goes im running the following: EZIO 4 Input/2 Output Relay Controller Garage contacts ISY 99i insteon KeypadLinc Dimmer 6 Button these are the relevant peices i use that relate to my garage door. I use the keypad link to open and shut the garage from inside the house.
  25. Hello, Ive got a simple garage door program that does the following: If Status 'GrgeRly1 GC Door' is On And Status 'GameRm KPL A' is not On Then Wait 5 minutes Send Notification to All Wait 5 minutes Set 'GrgeOtpt1 GC Button' On Send Notification to All Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') basically, it will shut my garage door if its open for 10 minutes, but notify me at the 5 minute mark and again at 10 minutes when it shuts. A few times however ive found my garage still open, or had my neighbor call me to say i had forgotten to close it. I did receive my TXT msgs each of those times, but i assumed the last txt msg was the garage closing and i was covered. But apparently something was blocking my garage sensor and it would not shut. I would like to program something that will continue to TXT me when my garage is open, that way i know something is wrong and the garage is not actually closing. I thought that my program would continue to run over and over because the "status of GrgeRly1 GC door" would continue to be "on" so my program would run over and over, but apparently thats not the case, once the Then statement runs, it will not run again even tho the If statement is still "true". can anyone assist me, or help me with some ideas on this. Thanks, Gregg
