For shits and giggles, have you tried a restore device? Also, I like your wine fridge temp idea, is that just a wireless temp sensor inside your wine fridge? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I can confirm that it stopped working for me. I used to be able to open/close front door (program) and it's gone now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You beat me to the post! App seems to work as described, so far, I'm able to control and/or do anything from the app that I can do from my Echo or Dot. I haven't tried playing music but I can only imagine it will play on my echo? When Amazon first announced they were open I got up Alexa and letting 3rd parties build Alexa powered devices, I was like OMG! I almost expected the iOS Alexa app to include this functionality, but it hasn't. That being said, there has to be a reason we haven't seen 3rd party devices yet, or why someone else or even Amazon, hasn't released this functionality on iOS or Android. I HOPE that neither Apple or Amazon find a way to get rid of this app. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank you Benoit, I'll try to update the wiki, as it says turn on runs the "IF". Unless you beat me to it! From Alexa Wiki at: http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY_Portal_Amazon_Echo_Integration Turn On': “Alexa, turn on the kitchen light” - works for devices, scenes, and programs (runs If) Turn Off: “Alexa, turn off the kitchen light” - works for devices, scenes, and programs (runs Else) Ps: although I can see benefits either way, would it make more sense to have it actually run the "if" instead of the "then"? For example, if we make it run the then, if I wanted to have a command like "open front door" only run when my home alarm is disarmed, I would have to write 2 programs, where the first program calls a second program to test for the alarm arm state. Alternatively, if Alexa were to run the "if" then I could put that test in 1 program. "If alarm is not armed, then unlock, else lock." The trick, in this case, would be to find a condition that is always true, for those cases where someone doesn't want to worry about putting an IF. Like I said, pros and cons to either way.

Do you have any distribution contracts that can provide pricing?
-
Thanks mapeter, definitely more than I'm looking to spend. I do like the combination sheer/blackout though.

For me, Open Front Door is the same as saying Turn On Front Door, while Close Front Door is the same as saying Turn Off Front Door. So Open = Turn On, Close = Turn Off Open/On: Runs If Close/Off: Runs Else Now, in my latest testing, and keep in mind, I have to test more, it feels like open/close is not actually running IF/Else, but actually running Then/Else. I'll do more testing on this and confirm Are you including the word "The" in your spoken assignment? If so, have you tried removing "The" and just doing "kitchen shade" such that you say "open kitchen shade"

Open and close work fine on my end with "front door" and "patio door" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for the clarification Michel, would zwave thermostats, linked to the ISY, work? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

woohoo! now here's another question, how would a Thermostat connected to an ELK system work with this new integration? Assuming the elk module is in place and the ISY can fully communicate with the ELK M1XEP?

I'm familiar with the Izzy Skill, but I was specifically referring to connected home, aka, not having to use the skill Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

mapeter: I've been looking into motorized shades, how does powerview measure up? My concern right now is pricing, the only ones I've been able to find through distribution are lutron shades. Any suggestions?

any news on when ISY will support thermostats via the connected home integration?

Very happy for this topic! Just to confirm, all the instructions I need are listed here? http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY_Portal_Amazon_Echo_Integration#Instructions_for_using_Multiple_Echos_Connected_Home

Out of curiosity, what are you using to control the TV with the echo? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So just to clear things up, my eKeypad and ISY portal connection is working great. My m1xep to ISY connection is working great. I don't have any issues using the ISY portal at all. This post was about adding an additional feature to the new ISY Portal. I was hoping that the ISY portal could include an option to use M1Cloud. So in other words, you could use the ISY portal to register both an ISY and an ELK m1xep using the M1Cloud infrastructure. M1Cloud is Elk's answer to a portal system but they don't do the full implementation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm glad I'm not the only one having issues with the triggered zone notification. Just today I added some additional variables to my "intruder alert" notification, I thought I was perhaps including the wrong variable. Keep us posted on your findings, I will do the same. Precisely! not to mention that eKeypad has a horrible connection delay when connecting via SSL to the elk. Security is always a concern, I'm not familiar with the Elk connection protocols but something tells me that it's not very secure...especially since ISY can connect to the m1xep and bypass the port username/password, as can ElkRP. I've been using VPN for a while now but that gets pretty annoying. I keep meaning to look into iOS VPN on demand, but that's another story. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Scott: I'm looking to get away from having to open incoming ports to my m1xep. I've considered setting up a reverse proxy but 1. Not sure if it will work, 2. Figured I'd try to find another solution first. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Scott: I am using the elk module, unfortunately the software I'm using doesn't pass over the elk security stuff when connecting via ISY. I'm using ekeypad Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What would it take to add Elk m1cloud functionality to the ISY Portal? I'd love to be able to use the m1cloud functionality with the ISY Portal!

Thank's Jon, wasn't aware you needed an account to view For everyone else, shodan.io is a search engine for internet connected devices (internet-of-things) but it basically searches for any device connected to the internet with some sort of remote management enabled. It's gotten a lot of popularity lately due to unsecured baby monitors. If you google it, you'll see hundreds of articles, mostly about baby monitors and nanny cams and how total strangers can sit there staring at your kids sleep, or worse! Why is this important to the ISY community? For example, the system software used by many DVR/NVR/IPCams comes from a select few manufacturers, the default username/password for these is usually the same. IF you search for a particular device family, you'd be surprised how many of these are completely open to the internet with the default credentials. With this information in hand, just about anyone who is in the know, could log in and start viewing your cameras remotely. But let's say you're an educated consumer and you changed your default credentials, you're protected, right? NO, because a big portion of the security for these types of devices comes from their anonymous nature, you don't sit on the net and post the IP address to your camera system for the entire world to see, right? Well shodan.io kinda does that for you, it finds your devices and puts it on a search engine (a very good one) for anyone to find and see. From here, it's not too difficult to write a script to brute force your device and most of these devices (ISY included) have limitations on username/password length, making brute forcing even easier. To top it off, devices (ISY included) does not have native brute-force protection, like "block this IP after xx amount of incorrect logins". So point of the matter is, if your device is listed on shodan, you could be in trouble! This is where the portal comes in, it's a more secure method of connecting to your ISY, the fact alone that you can have multiple user accounts with more complicated passwords is reason enough! Not only this but you never have to worry about port forwarding ever again nor do you have to worry about services like shodan.io crawling your server. Now don't get me wrong, shodan.io is a great thing, it's forcing software developers not to ignore security in their internet-of-things products. Not to mention that shodan.io doesn't use revolutionary technology either, it's using technology that's been around for years upon years but only to those in the know. Now it's open to everyone. So, if you care about security, which in this field, we all should, give the portal a try. ps: imagine how easy it would be for someone to brute force your ISY, figure out when you're not home, unlock your door remotely, and break in to your home....not a good thought!

https://www.shodan.io/search?query=product%3A%22Universal+Devices+Insteon+home+automation+http+config%22 There are a few ways to protect your install, some more complicated than others...but if you don't want to be hassled, do yourself a favor, purchase the portal! ps: some of these are even using the default credentials!!
