  1. I have an MS II programmed exactly as you describe. I think there is a timeout timer that can be configured to control how long it waits until it searches for new motion -- I think its the same time it would wait to turn a device off if it were programmed to send off commands. Ours works fine, but I've never had a reason to research whether it was sending repeated on commands or not -- it just hasn't given us any trouble.
  2. I have an RPi that watches my internet connection and notifies me via a text message sent from a hologram nova cellar modem (40 cents a month) so it can reach me even if the internet is down. I have it talking to my ISY (which isn't battery backed up) because sometimes when the power is restored our fiber internet gateway box doesn't recover completely. I then can send a text to have the isy power cycle the fiber box remotely to get the net back up. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  3. @fahrer16 I tried out the node-red-contrib-isy package on my node-red server and I got it working but I encountered an error somewhat similar to those described above. Essentially what happened is I connected to an ISY that had no variables defined of either integer or state and I got the errors shown in the screen captures I've attached. I grabbed the return XML for /rest/vars/get/1 and /rest/vars/get/2 -- see attached screenshots -- the XML is empty. When I went and defined two dummy variables on the ISY, the problem went away. This is on ISY firmware version 5.0.14 -- Please let me know if you would like more information. Many thanks for producing this! Best Regards, Mitch
  4. I did something quite similar but for a different reason -- I have a program flag that is set to "manual control" if the light is turned on from the switch (even if the motion has already turned on the light) so that I can work in the closet without having the sensor (which cannot see me where the network cabinet is) turn off the light. Programming the Motion Sensor II to send on messages only was why I originally bought the Insteon Hub, but the firmware updates for 5.0 handle it so I'm just searching for a use for the Hub.
  5. Well I got tired of having my new Insteon Motion Sensor II's turn off the lights in the closet while I was working (where it couldn't see me) so I bought a Smarthome Inteon Hub in order to program the Motion Sensor to only send ON messages then use it with the ISY network (I'd used the old motion sensors that way and it was very convenient -- I have programs that turn the lights off *except* when turned on from the switch). So, I get the hub and decide to check the forums before setting it up and lo and behold, the new Beta of 5.x supports the Motion Sensor IIs and now no need for the Hub. But, now that I have it, I'm wondering if there is anything worthwhile I can do with it on an Insteon network that is ISY controlled? Has anyone put the Smarthome Hub on their network with the ISY and found a good use for it? Thanks!
  6. Oh, I thought they didn't have API info yet. I have 5.0.11B installed, I'll take a look. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  7. Is that what you have to have the SmartHome Hub to set?
  8. Hmm -- this makes me pause and think for a moment -- I switched from using programs (where I could deal with the off message) to scenes because the on time was so much faster. That was fine with the old units when they were set to never send an off message. Now I wonder if there isn't a way to manipulate the scene to prevent the off message from the new ones from having any effect. I'll have to experiment to see if there is a way to make a scene 'on only' so it ignores the off message. If anyone has any thoughts on this, I'm all ears.
  9. The old ones had a jumper where you could set them to send on messages only so the Isy could control when to turn the lights off - made it easy to have a program change the lights to 'manual mode' when you turned the wall switch on so the lights wouldn't go out on you when working in the area out of sight of the sensor. 10. That's what I was hoping too avoid... Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  11. Has anyone found a way to make the motion sensor only send on commands like you could with a jumper on the old ones? Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  12. Quick thread hijack (does it count if I started it? Xathros -- I see you have Emoncms -- what type of sensor did you buy to use it in the US?
  13. I asked Alexa what her status was and she did not understand how to respond to that so I provided feedback -- it would be nice if she could report service problems if she is working enough to respond at all. Ok, now I'm calling a computer 'she' -- we are being assimilated.
  14. Yeah, mine seems to be working intermittently
  15. Now the Alexa smarthome portal shows all the devices offline. Is anyone else having trouble?
  16. Tonight we came home and Alexa reports all ISY devices as "not responding". I can login into the ISY Portal and refresh devices and all looks ok. From the ISY I can control everything. I did the forget and discover and got no devices twice but they all came in the third time, but Alexa still reports them all not responding.
  17. {best Borg voice...} Resistance is ... oh look a new toy!!
  18. I am working on automating my utility room light to come on when someone comes home and opens the garage door. I would like the light to go off after 15 minutes unless someone touches the toggle linc -- e.g. turns it on. Is this something that can be sensed -- e.g. a toggle linc in the on state has its toggle manually turned on? Thanks!
