    Best Practices

First, use Scenes where possible. Second, only one ISY Scene is needed to accomplish the cross-linking. Add both devices as Controllers to the same ISY Scene. The ISY assumes a Controller is also a Responder and will cross-link the devices based on that one ISY Scene.
  2. Turn the Scene Off. KPLs with firmware before v.40 cannot have Secondary KPL buttons turned Off (On Level 0%) with an On command. The point is to turn the KPL buttons Off so use the Off command. Insteon does not allow multiple Scenes to be running at the same time. It may be necessary to add a Wait of 1-2 seconds before issuing the Scene Off in the Program. This allows the Scene driven from pressing the KPL button to complete before the Program issues the Set Scene 'xxxxx' Off.
  3. There is a later Java available. Has been for some time. Suggest moving to latest Java. Be sure to close all browser sessions and clear Java cache. 1.7.0_45-b18.
  4. The non-Insteon motion detector should be driven by a Relay device. The output of an Insteon Dimmer does not provide the power arrangement needed by the non-Insteon motion sensor.
  5. Click Help | About, what is displayed for Firmware line? What is displayed for UI line? A device usage cannot be changed once added to Scene. Delete the device and add it back as needed. Why was the ISY image not updated to 4.1.1?
  6. What AntiVirus is being used? They can block data being pushed from the ISY to the Admin Console making updates all but impossible.
  7. The issue is not the number of items. The ISY-26 configuration information is different from that contained in the 994i. As these changes have happened along the 99i and 994i life span the configuration information was updated as a new images were installed. My assumption is the ISY-26 configuration is old enough that the current 994i image will not known how to handle it. Had the ISY-26 image been installed on the 99i at the time it would have worked. Could well be my assumption is wrong but the UDI team will be the ones to state if an ISY-26 backup file can be installed on the 994i image.
  8. What ISY firmware is being used? I renamed a 6 button KPL button on 4.1.1
  9. Use one ISY Scene. Add both devices as Controllers of the Scene. ISY assumes a Controller is also a Responder and will cross-link the devices.
  10. Suggest opening a Ticket with UDI support. Not sure there is a "fool-proof" way go from an ISY-26 to a 994i short of starting from scratch.
  11. Have you used HTTPS rather than HTTP to go to the Secure port?
  12. The selection list cannot be made wider.
  13. "Why are some devices under scenes in the tree red? Is that because they are on?" Nodes below a Scene name in Red are Controller nodes. Nodes that are Blue are Responder nodes. Backlight level has to do with how bright ALL the KPL buttons are when On. To turn a Secondary KPL button Off (or On) assign the KPL button as a Responder to an ISY Scene and turn the Scene Off in the Program Set Scene 'kplbuttonx' Off It is likely a Wait of 1-2 seconds will be needed in the Program before issuing the KPL button Scene Off to allow the Scene directly controlled by the KPL button to be processed completely.
  14. 3.3.10 does not support the Dual Band KPL (along with some other new Insteon devices). There is an update program to move to the 994i. See the UDI web site for information.
  15. As with all Insteon devices the EZIOxxx family of devices has a PLM. As with other Insteon devices the PLM is internal to the device. The exception is the EZIO8SA. This device has enough function that a PLM will not fit internally so an external PLM such as the ISY uses is required. Specifically the EZIO2X4 can be added to the ISY as is. The four EZIO2X4 Inputs work without additional software setup. However, there is a timer associated with each of the two EZIO2X4 outputs which could be needed for the specific implementation. For example, the EZIO2X4 outputs can control garage door openers. In this situation the timers would be set for approx 2 seconds to simulate a manual door opener button press. The ISY does not support setting these timers. The Simplehomenet Utility Suite (free download from Simplehomenet/Smartenit web site) sets these timers. The Utility Suite uses a PLM, just as the ISY does, to communicate with the Simplehomenet/Smartenit devices. The ISY PLM can be used for this activity if the PC has a Serial port.
  16. Particularly if things do not work please post back. Each piece taken by itself is not too bad but when all the parts are involved it can be confusing. The nice thing about Responder versus Local values, once understood they have not changed over the years. Let us know.

    Ubi is here

The Insteon address in REST must also carry the node number 12 34 56 1

    Error on home page

Click Help | About. Does it list the Network Module? Have any network commands been defined?
  19. Backlight does not apply. That affects the On level of ALL buttons on the KPL. Have the Program turn the Scene On/Off rather then the light itself. Turning an individual device On/Off does not affect the linked devices. Set Scene 'xxxx' On or Off

    Error on home page

Is the optional Network Module installed?
  21. The FanLinc Light is a Responder Only device. There is no button/paddle accessable on the FanLinc to turn it On/Off locally (yes, there is a Set button but you do not have access to it). It is being controlled by a KPL button so there is no Local On Level involved. The Program to change the On Level and Ramp Rate specifies the KPL button in the 'In Scene' parameter and the FanLinc Light node in the 'Set' parameter. Two Adjust Scene statements are needed, one to set Responder On Level and one to set the Responder Ramp Rate.
  22. "The first time I restarted the ISY I also had the PLM unlplugged. I plugged the PLM in after the ISY had started up. " That is the wrong sequence. The ISY looks for the PLM when it boots up. When it is not there there is no PLM. Plugging the PLM in later does not matter as the PLM does not indicate its there. The PLM needs to be there when the ISY boots.

    x10 in Insteon scene

X10 devices cannot be in an Insteon Scene. An ISY Program can turn On/Off X10 addresses.
  24. I would not think anything related to the PLM would be necessary. Sounds like the PLM might have gotten full as the Restore Device should have rewritten the PLM link as well. The PLM can become full of duplicate and no longer used records which the Restore Modem (PLM) would compress out during the Restore Modem (PLM) process.
  25. The small circle with the line indicates the Program is Disabled.
