  1. Thanks @Geddy; Yes, I do have the 500 series dongle. Let's see, what UD says about my Polisy and the new dongle. I'm willing to wait if it makes sense, that's for sure. My only worry is about the reception of a built-in dongle. I have a 6,000sqf home with poured and reninforced concrete walls. I put my 994 with built in 500 Z-Wave module 10' off the ground, so it can seek through the glass that sits above those concrete walls and below the steel roof. All zwave sensors are literally line of sight. With a built-in z-wave module inside the Polisy, I may have to move that whole thing to 10'. Doable but MPITA. Cheers
  2. Thanks @Geddy and @Techman; Most useful information. I submitted a ticket. Let's see, what UD says. I now have ISY Version 5.3.0 on the 994. Is there really a need to upgrade to 5.3.4. if I'm going to retire the ISY 994? Haven't done any changes on Polisy, pending feedback from @Michel Kohanim. With Techman's comment about my zwave dongle, the whole spiel is on hold anyway. Living in Colombia anything that I can't get here via Amazon takes more than a month and is supremely expensive in shipping costs. Aeotec and ZOOZ have the 700 series dongle on Amazon, but it won't ship to Colombia. go figure... To be continued... Cheers
  3. Greetings! Thanks to all of your efforts, I seem to have a path to migrating my 994 to Polisy. Before I embark on this project, I'd like to get some clarity though. The Set-Up: 1- my Polisy is one of the first ones, i signed up for it before they were shipping. 2- I have an ISY with a Z-Wave dongle AND and Elk dongle (Elk M1) 3- about 100 Tasmota flashed Sonoff switches controlled by the Polisy MQTT NS 4- About 20 Aeotec Z-Wave multisensory, which currently are controlled by the 994. These sensors are sitting at 15ft elevation, powered by USB 5V. 5- Google Home Assistant for everything! There are no switches in the house! I also have an Aeotec Z-Wave dongle, Gen5. Now a few questions: 1- can I use that Gen5 Z-Wave dongle or should I just order a new 700 series unit, as recommended in the instructions? Any way to test that? 2- there are 4 pages of instructions there. At what point do I get to a point of no return? Or can the IoP coexist with my current setup with the 994? As I mentioned there are no switches in the house, so either with hey Google or with with the UD app I will need to be up and running before sunset... Or else my wife will have a word with me. She loves the home automation when it works. When it doesn't......... 3- that brings up another point, since I have a very old Polisy: adding ISY to the Polisy by itself will not crash the rest of the system, correct? I'm an occasional user, and if things don't work smoothly, my troubleshooting skills are limited. @Michel Kohanim had to bail me out more than once, from SoCal, via Lake Tahoe into the Polisy sitting in Colombia... Thanks for understanding Cheers.
  4. Update: I contacted Homecontrols.com, from where I had bought the ELK M1. Through them, ELK did some trouble shooting and determined that the RS232 connection of the M1 was busted. Warranty. I finally got the replacement yesterday, installed it and it worked! Case closed! No need for DSC for now.
  5. It worked! They gave me installer privileges. Thanks @TrojanHorse
  6. Thanks; As I was looking for the rs232 gender, i noticed that when the M1XEP is disconnected, the TELCO SEIZED stops flashing... the problem definitely lies around there. Looked at the log from the touch panel. Nothing interesting there, unfortunately. Will update, once I have a solution.
  7. Yes, I do have RP2. I just tried to download it on a laptop again with that USERID I had, but that company is out of business and ELK must have purged them out of their system. Just tried to sign up as an installer, pending verification... Let's see, what they say. Yup, my PC with RP2 is locally talking to the M1XEP and the MAC ID matches the label. Reached out to HomeControls.com, where I bought the panel. They'll be contacting ELK, I guess. In the meantime, I will research, if my USB-RS485 dongle will work with the M1's RS232 port. If that works and I can talk to the ELK, that means the control is good and the M1XEP's rs232 is busted... one step at a time...
  8. Thanks @TrojanHorse, I thought only installers can get access to RP2. Has that changed? With "acting up", I mean that the M! Control is no longer communicating with the M1XEP. All sensors are working, the keyboards are working, but not communicating with RP or with ISY994. And the TELCO SEIZED Led is always on, and flashes off every 16 secs (or 16 STATUS LED blinks)... RP2 starts talking to the M1XEP, but M1Gold doesn't respond. M1XEP is bound to my router and everything. I have a pretty hefty ELK investment 2 LCD panels, 4 keypands, 5 input expanders. So switching to DSC would be a tough one, but since I sold the cabin, if ELK gives me grief, I'll do the math with a DSC PowerSeries NEO... Seems like the more modern system anyway. And my Polisy is handling all of HA and wireless sensors anyway... Cheers.
  9. Thanks @tmorse305, Appreciate the feedback on this. Follow-up question: How easy is it to install a DSC system like yours? ELK M1 was easy enough, because I dublicated my prior install and expanded it, but I had access to the Programming tools (RP2). This is usually only available to trained techs, but I had access for a while somehow (see previous post). Does DSC provide all tools to DIYers? Cheers
  10. Greetings from Colombia, Where ELK is not present and i recently got locked out of Elk's support page... I bought an ELK M1 Gold when we moved here, because I already had one in California and was familiar with it. The installer in CA gebe me access to the ELK support site and I was able to keep my systems up to date. Seems Elk did a recent purge and my access disappeared. I also sold the cabin in California... Now, as lick would have it, my ELK in Colombia is acting up. If i can't fix it, I'll be facing the decision of replacing the system. (All hard wired sensors, with 5 or 6 IO extenders all through the house). The popular system here in Colombia is DSC... How well does ISY994/Polish integrate with DSC compared to ELK? Any caveats? If DSC is well support, any recommendations in which DSC to get? Thanks!
  11. Hi Asbril; So, I have deleted the Home App from her phone and reinstalled it. With that, UD disappears from list of the "works with google" items. Although her phone, or her voice should defer to what Google Home has on my account. Bottom line though, once reinstalled and signed on, her Home app immediately sees our household, but continues to say " can't reach Universal Devices". Neither from her phone, not with my voice or hers. Not on the Google Display or other Minis. There is something else fouled up! Im thinking of disassociating my Google account from UD. How do I do this? From within the ISY Portal or from within Google Home? or Both? I know how to disociate it from within Google Home, but not from within UD. Thanks
  12. This is a repeat question, the first time i only got snide remarks! I have an ISY994 and Polisy Pro controlling 100+ SonOff switches by voice. I have scenes, programs and switches. My wife's is a member of the Google household. All was working well until November, when upgraded my Pixel 3a to a 5a. All of a sudden, when my wife asks for a program to be executed, like "hey Google, open sesame" (a program in ISY) the Home Display answers "Sorry, I can't reach universal devices right now"... She can turn on/off lights just fine. When I say the same thing, it works ok. This behavior repeats itself on all Minis and her own phone. I rebooted ISY, Polisy, I added/removed UD to WorksWithGoogle, added/removed the same routine on her phone, retrained Assistant with her voice... Nothing seems to work. All devices in the home have voice recognition enabled. And it was working before. Occasionally, even Strangers can say "open sesame" and the wine cellar opens... Any ideas where to look? cheers
  13. Greetings, Its been a while since I had problems with the Policy/ISY set up. Both me wife and I recently upgraded from older version Pixels to 5a's, Android 12. My integration came after hers (Google Home is registered under me and she's "family" by invite), as before. It used to be that if she or I said Hey Google, good morning", the system would respond "Hi Sweetie" and then play my selection of news, starting with BBC.l (which I chose) Now, when I say it it still does that, but when my wife says it, it says "Hi Heather" and plays Fox News( which she didn't chose)!!!! What makes matters worse, when I say "hey Google, open sesame" on any of the several Google minis and screens and my phone, the wine cellar opens. When my wife tries the same on her phone or any Google Device, it says " can't reach universal devices right now"... This is a major problem, since she is accusing me of restricting her access to the booze!!!!!! She can control all the lights, but can't execute any programs/routines. I dis-invited and re-invited her to the household, and tried to set up the routines on her phone. No dice. The wine cellar is newly one of those open/close items, but the fact that Google Home chooses "Hi Heather" and Fox News instead of my "Hi Sweetie" and BBC, is an indication that it is not the open/close functionality that's causing the problem. All the lights on Policy/ISY show up on her phone's Home Assistant and when I try to add a routine like open sesame on her phone the various programs show up as well. But they don't execute (although on the phone it says "done"). Any ideas? Thanks.
  14. Yup, and getting lots of Oohs and Aahs too. Cheers.
  15. Thanks Geddy, I was heading in that direction, but decided to try an another approach (see above), which fixed the problem...
  16. Thanks MrBill. The hangup seems to occur at GH. It didn't understand "Turn Off Sesame"... I have the solution now, albeit a bit cumbersome. It would be great though, if @bmercier could explain how to use the new OPEN/CLOSE syntax... Will ping him at UD
  17. Here is the solution: 1- Write 2 separate programs in ISY, one for OPEN SESAME, the other for CLOSE SESAME 2- In the ISY PORTAL/GOOGLE HOME, add PROGRAMs OPEN SESAME and CLOSE SESAME as SCENES. Refresh and Upload to GH... 3- In your GH app, add a Routine, responding to "Open Sesame" Starter and as an Action, pick ADJUST SCENES (Open Sesame shows in the drop down). This, instead of TRY ADDING YOUR OWN ("Turn off Sesame")... Repeat for "Close Sesame". This fixed the problem. Thanks for everyone's quick response here.
  18. Thanks Mr. Bill. I already tried that. It seems that it only refuses to do the Shut/Close command (TURN OFF Sesame) that refer to PROGRAMS in ISY. It has no problem executing a TURN OFF Garage Light. Also, when in the Portal, I change the GH Category from SCENE to DEVICE WITH OPEN/CLOSE SYNTAX, Open Sesame command fails to respond as well...
  19. Both RUN IF and RUN ELSE execute properly from within the Console
  20. Thanks! Yes, the ISY is running 5.3.0. I upgraded it from 5.0.16C and did a bunch of work to get it all running again. Including opening and closing Sesame... In order to delete old verbal commands, you hit the red X inside the Google home portion of the ISY Portal. Indeed, it seems to be sufficient to do the Refresh in the ISY Portal to pass console updates to the portal. Hasn't fixed my Close Sesame problem yet though... Thanks
  21. Greetings; I have this really nice cirdular wine cellar with a glass top, which responds to the Google Command, wait for it... "Open Sesame!" and it used to also respond to "Close Sesame". Well, a few days/weeks ago, while it continues to let me get my wine, it refuses to close... ("sorry I don't understand" says google, even from the Home app, sans voice). The glass trap door is driven by an DC linear actuator, which requires me to toggle +/-. I have a Plus Cellar and a Minus Cellar switch, from a Sonoff QUAD (the other two drive light and circulation fan). And, I have a Program in ISY, called SESAME, which has no IFS. In the THEN section flips the switches to open the trap, waits 30secs and turns the switches off - and in the ELSE section closes the trap, waits a 30 secs and tursn the switches off (30 secs to give the actuator time to do its job). (it also turns the fan off and the lights on and vice versa) I then have Google Home routines, OPEN SESAME, which issues the command TURN ON SESAME and the reciprocal CLOSE SESAME, which issues the command TURN OFF SESAME. This CLOSE SESAME IS NOW BROKEN! It opens, but doesn't close. When I have the google routing turn off a switch to the same CLOSE SESAME, it works. I tried renaming and deleting the program in ISY. No cigar. I tried refresh in the Portal, multiple Push to Googles, no dice. It seems to be related to the fact that Im trying to control a program with Google Home, instead of a switch. As I was playing with the SESAME program in the ISY Portal (Select Tool/Connectivity/Google Home), I noticed DEVICE WITH OPEN/CLOSE SYNTAX... This lead me to: The timing on this post and the failure of my system is close enough that I'm thinking this new functionality might be the cause of my torment. Can you please shed some light on this new feature and maybe give me a hint on how I can reconfigure my program to work with this new OPE/CLOSE sytanx thingy? Cheers; Oh, and BTW, if I make a change in the ISY admin console, How do I push it to the ISY Protal, without logging off and logging on again? Thanks
  22. I think the issue is with ISY 5.3.0 not supporting Security 2 yet, as indicated in the pop up window for Z-wave (see attached. In any case, as mentioned by many others and just confirmed in my installation, connecting the AeoTec MS in non-secure mode significantly speeds up the response time and seems to strengthen the meshing. Unless you have a very strong case for encryption, I'd skip it. Cheers.
  23. Good morning! Where are we with the ISY to Polisy migration? Do we have a Z-wave solution yet? Custom Dongle vs, off the shelf? Also, I read in a previous post in this thread that ELK support is already available as a Nodeserver. Can I move this easily from ISY to Polisy without too much trouble? Any how-to-move documents available? Thanks
  24. Awesome! Thanks G. This is exactly what I was looking for all this time. I did a complete reset of my ISY and started from scratch, but as luck would have it, the 5th and node didn't sync up correctly and I had to redo it, assigning node21 the second time around. I will delete 21 and follow your instructions on repopulate node5. Made my day!
