I use the Camect NS to trigger it all when the front door camera sees a person on our front sidewalk. I also use the Sonos plugin. I keep meaning to try the ST-Sonos plugin, but this one "ain't broke" and does what I want/need. I have a Plex Media server typically running for our music. I put some spooky sounds on it that I play on a couple of Sonos Move speakers that I hide outside. (Obviously, I'm not putting the speakers outside if the weather isn't permitting.) I have the sounds on a loop and I just mute and unmute the speakers as needed. I forgot to add that I also have Hue light bulbs in my exterior lights that turn from the normal white light to a purple-ish during this time. I use the Hue NS for that. (I do other colors for other holidays.) Let me add that all this is only for the 4 hour trick-or treating window. So here is what happens: Camect NS detects a person. Sonos speakers unmute. The outdoor on/off module turns on the fog machine. The Hue lights turn purple. I do a 60 second WAIT, and then everything goes back to normal, ready for the next victim. The sad part of all this is that we do not have a lot of kids in the neighborhood. My wife says I do this more for me than for them. I guess that's what happens when you retire and have too much time on your hands.

I use the Camect NS to change the brightness of the lights on our front sidewalk from 75% to 100% when a person is detected there. This is year round. Last year, I had strobe lights plugged into outdoor on/off modules and controlled by the Camect NS. That was a bit too much; the wife didn't really like that. This year, I'm going with a fog machine and a couple of Sonos speakers outside that will all be triggered as someone approaches. Wish me luck.

Or just make another comfort setting for when doors/windows are open. It doesn't have to be a part of the schedule.
-
I do something similar except that I switch to the "Away" setting when doors/windows are open. This way it works for Heat and AC.

Unsuccessful EISY upgrade to v.5.7.0
dakall replied to sfroach's topic in New user? Having trouble? Start here
Take a look here. -
Same here; I removed the ISY and all the switches worked as switches. I did have a couple of 8-buttons that were used to trigger programs/scenes which obviously wouldn't work without the ISY. So I installed a couple of dimmers in their place and paired them with other switches that seemed to be a logical 3-way set up.

The IoX Launcher shows an http and an https connection to my eisy. Is there an advantage to using one type over the other? I do understand that https is encrypted, but I don't understand why that would matter seeing as I'm connecting on the same network.

Let me start by saying I have zero Zwave devices and an equal amount of knowledge about it. We recently did some upgrades to our home security system. We now have a Honeywell Tuxedo touchpad as one of the keypads. The Tuxedo also happens to be a Zwave controller. I don't want to spend too much time (or money) experimenting, but I was wondering if the touchpad could communicate with my eisy (with the proper module). I thought that it could be very convenient to have a touchpad to control things in the house. I do not plan on swapping out all my Insteon switches/devices to Zwave ones at the current time.

Noob questions and advice

That's irrational. -
Perfect! I probably saw this when it was posted, but since I wasn't using IoP at the time, I ignored it. All is good now.

OK. I missed that part. That's what I get for reading instructions as I am doing something rather than reading them all the way through beforehand.

I was able to migrate from my long-time (and reliable) isy & Polisy setup to eisy only. Although I did have some issues, (no doubt some were self-inflicted) I managed to get everything working except for my many network resources. I finally stumbled upon simply opening each one up as if to edit it, and then re-saving it. I made no changes, but once it got saved it would work. My last unresolved issue is that I can't get my wake-on-lan commands to work. At the moment, hat's is not as big of a deal as the network resources not working. I just use those to turn on my TVs as part of a much larger scene automation.

Polisy - Support thread for: PG3 v3.1.6 - v3.1.16 (December 9, 2022)
dakall replied to bpwwer's topic in Polyglot v3 (PG3x)
My Polisy is hardwired to my router as it has been since day 1. I was going to start start a ticket, however when I logged in to grab some screenshots this morning, all is working well once again. I've been gone the past 4 days so I know it's nothing I did. -

After upgrading to 3.1.15, none of my purchases from the Node Store are working. They show "Disconnected" in the dashboard and will not start. I get a "No Valid License" message. When I go to the Node Store and try "Sync Purchases" I get the message "Polisy not yet registered with Portal." Everything was fine prior to upgrading. -

I have opened a ticket. In the meantime I did delete and reinstall a couple of Node Servers. I even installed in different slots and no change. I checked the logs and saw this: I assumed that "invalid publish" has something to do with the Node Server Store. I tried "Sync Purchases" but that did not help. -

I never had an issue updating until today. I updated this morning and it seemed to take, however all of my Node Servers are showing failed and won't start. I tried rebooting several times and even unplugging it for 30+ minutes. I also retried the updating from the Finder again. (That's how I tried it initially) It made all of the normal beeps, but still nothing. Any suggestions? Thanks. -
There is a thread here already that got me going. No sense for me to duplicate everything that is in here. Yes, it's older and for Gen 1, but the logic is the same for Gen 2. There were a few syntax changes between 1 & 2 but nothing major. I don't know if the Gen 3 API has been released yet. Here is a link to the API documentation. It's somewhere in the thread as well. https://mynzws.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Powerview-Third-Party-API.pdf I do not consider my self to be a programmer in any way, shape , or form. Thanks to the above thread and lots of experimentation, I now know enough to be very dangerous. You will need to use the H-D app in order set up all the shades and scenes you wish to use. I found it easiest at first to just control the scenes with the ISY. Here's a few quick and dirty instructions and tips. Once the hub is set up to your liking, you can now enter this into your browser: http://hub_ip_address/api/scenes You should get something similar to this: {"sceneIds":[9075,63105,43541,49729,27775,61525,22154,15570,45956,62971,31558],"sceneData": [{"roomId":39030,"name":"T3BlbiBCYWNrIDkwNzU=","colorId":9,"iconId":0,"networkNumber":199,"id":9075,"order":0,"hkAssist":false}, {"roomId":19362,"name":"RnJvbnQgRG9vciBNaWQgNjMxMDU=","colorId":12,"iconId":0,"networkNumber":182,"id":63105,"order":6,"hkAssist":false}, {"roomId":26247,"name":"R3JlYXQgUm9vbSBPcGVuIDQzNTQx","colorId":13,"iconId":0,"networkNumber":181,"id":43541,"order":8,"hkAssist":false}, {"roomId":39030,"name":"U3Vuc2V0IE9wZW4gNDk3Mjk=","colorId":5,"iconId":97,"networkNumber":74,"id":49729,"order":4,"hkAssist":false}, {"roomId":26247,"name":"R3JlYXQgUm9vbSBDbG9zZSAyNzc3NQ==","colorId":13,"iconId":0,"networkNumber":171,"id":27775,"order":7,"hkAssist":false}, {"roomId":39030,"name":"QmVkdGltZSA2MTUyNQ==","colorId":15,"iconId":12,"networkNumber":16,"id":61525,"order":2,"hkAssist":false}, {"roomId":39030,"name":"Q2xvc2UgRnJvbnQgMjIxNTQ=","colorId":14,"iconId":95,"networkNumber":70,"id":22154,"order":3,"hkAssist":false}, {"roomId":39030,"name":"T3BlbiBGcm9udCAxNTU3MA==","colorId":1,"iconId":96,"networkNumber":188,"id":15570,"order":1,"hkAssist":false}, {"roomId":39030,"name":"TGF0ZSBOb29uIENsb3NlIDQ5NTk1Ng==","colorId":7,"iconId":95,"networkNumber":76,"id":45956,"order":10,"hkAssist":false}, {"roomId":19362,"name":"RnJvbnQgRG9vciBMb3cgNjI5NzE=","colorId":12,"iconId":0,"networkNumber":2,"id":62971,"order":5,"hkAssist":false}, {"roomId":2590,"name":"U3VuZGF5IDMxNTU4","colorId":5,"iconId":0,"networkNumber":222,"id":31558,"order":9,"hkAssist":false}]} These are my 11 scenes that I have set up in my Powerview Hub. The hub assigns a "sceneIds" number to each scene. As you can see, they are all listed in the first line, and then individually in the subsequent lines as just "id." The "name" field is encoded in base64. There are plenty of online base64 decoders. I simply cut & pasted the "name" field into one of these decoder and it would return the name in English. I made a spreadsheet for quick and easier reference. Here's a portion of it: SCENES NAME (base 64) Open Back 9075 T3BlbiBCYWNrIDkwNzU= Open Front 15570 T3BlbiBGcm9udCAxNTU3MA== Close Front 22154 Q2xvc2UgRnJvbnQgMjIxNTQ= Bedtime 61525 QmVkdGltZSA2MTUyNQ== Once you know the "id" for the scene, the next step is to make a Network Resource to call it. Here's what I use for my "Open Back" scene: Obviously, your hub IP address and "sceneId" will be different, but this is how you would make a network resource for this scene. I know this seems much to take in at first, especially without access to a hub. Once you get one and begin to experiment with it, this will all make much more sense. I am also able to control individual shades, which the original post doesn't really get into much. That is a bit more involved, but I can help you out when the time comes.

I have Gen2. The API is readily available online. There was a lot of carryover from Gen1 to Gen2. I don't see why Gen3 would be different. It works with all of the same home-automation systems. I use the network resources of the ISY for all the controls. I don't use the HD app for any scheduling. I just set up scenes and then call those scenes with the ISY.

When I update PG2 via the dashboard, does PG3 get updates as well? There is no option on the PG3 dashboard for upgrade. Or does this need to be done with ssh?
-
Thanks. You steered me in the right direction. It wasn't in the ISY, but it was in my Polisy-ISY, which I was playing around with but haven't switched over yet. I went ahead and deleted all the Node Servers from the POLISY-ISY as a precautionary measure since I'm not using it.

I got PG3 running just fine, however there is a strange issue. I have 3 Node Servers running on PG2 and nothing installed yet on PG3. When I go to the Dashboard for PG3, it is showing me my 3 PG2 Node Servers as "Unmanaged" which I assume is correct since they are managed by PG2. However PG3 also shows a fourth "Unmanaged" NS that I uninstalled from PG2 a couple of months ago. I tried re-installing it on PG2, and then uninstalling it again to see if it would go away from PG3 but it did not. Rebooting the Polisy did nothing for this also. Also the "phantom" NS was uninstalled from PG2 well before I installed PG3.

I have nothing against geofencing. I get it; if my wife and I are home, the lights won't turn on. But a couple of times a week, one of our kids comes by and so the light should be on for them. Yes, I could add them to the geofencing, too. But that's way more involved than I want to get. Perhaps I should just go with motion detectors at each end of the walkway.
-
I didn't even think of that. I do have other IF-less Alexa programs that work great. I'll play around with this idea and see what happens.
-
The logic here is this: if no one is home (and obviously cannot issue a "stop/quit" command) I want the side lights to come on as this is the way into the back of the house. If we are at home, and in for the night, there is no need for those lights to come on. And I am not getting into geofencing because sometimes we do want them on if we are leaving later. Heaven forbid we have to flip a switch as we leave the house.
