  1. Thanks, Mike... I'll try that when I get home tonight.
  2. HELP! All of a sudden I can't access my ISY from a computer outside of my home network. Last night when I got home my wife said she had not been able to log onto the Internet since about 3:30 PM. I couldn't figure out the problem so I called our ISP. They said they had an issue earlier in the day and that it would be taken care of. Well, whatever they did fixed the Internet problem but I still can't access it from my work computer which is outside of our home network. I am able to log onto the ISY from within my home network What happened????? Thanks for your help! (Originally Michael D. Boulanger assisted me with this getting port forwarding set up and so forth.)

    Scene Test?

Michel, I may have discovered my problem. Since most of my system is still X-10 (I'm slowly changing over to Insteon as funds permit) I am still using my old Plato SmartLinc system to control the X-10. I believe Plato is absorbing some of my Insteon traffic because unplugging Plato's interface seem to have solved the problem. I do have FilterLinc's on all of my stereo/TV equipment both in our great room and our bedroom. I also have two access points- one in the foyer and one in the great room which should be enough in our small condo and they are placed on separate phases of the power. In fact, one of the access points is plugged into the non-controlled outlet of the LampLinc's in question because I just don't have that many free outlets! Maybe it's too close!?! Thanks for everyone's help on this matter but I think, for the most part, I've discovered my problem. PS: Your next question will probably be, "Why aren't I using ISY to control my X-10?" Two reasons... 1) I think using Insteon and X-10 together slows down the ISY and 2) I just can't bear to pack up my Plato!

    Scene Test?

The hardware revision is 4.3 on all four of my LampLinc's. I've only had them since late January 2009 so they should be the newest version/revision.

Still at work but will check later tonight when I get home. Thanks!

    Scene Test?

They are all Insteon noise filters purchased from SmartHome about two months ago. Unplugging them brings back old X-10 signal issues so I know they're working!

    Scene Test?

In our Great Room we have our TV, stereo equipment, satellite converter box and a laptop power supply. The wall outlets where the two lamplincs are plugged into (on either side of the sofa) are the ones that don't always respond. The stereo/TV equipment are in the same room and on the same circuit. I have noise filters on all of the TV/stereo equipment and unplugging the laptop power supply makes no difference. There is nothing else in the room (on the circuit) that could be causing noise. We don't have any CFL's except in our laundry room and a few closets. The laundry room is at the other end of the house away from the great room. The closets are back by the bedrooms. I have button #5 on the RemoteLinc programmed to activate the scene. In the "Great Room Accent Lighting" scene I DO NOT have that button as a controller. Instead I have it as an "If" in the program of the ISY- If RemoteLinc button 5 ON is pressed, activate scene. I tried making the RemoteLinc a controller in the scene and the problem didn't improve even after disabling the scene in the program details of the ISY. I probably need to tell you that I am just getting started with Insteon (replacing a rapidly failing X-10 system) and right now only have 4 LampLinc's and 3 KeypadLinc's. I'm also still on my learning curve with the ISY but each time I discover something that didn't work when supposed to I learn a little more about the programming of the ISY- learn from my mistakes! Yesterday afternoon/evening was really the first time I was able to sit down with the ISY and really do some serious programming. IndyMike- Thanks for your assistance with this and using terms that someone new to the ISY can understand. I hope the above information is what you wanted.

    Scene Test?

What should I expect to see with the scene test feature? I played around with it tonight and I'm not sure what I'm looking for. What does "Change Level" do??? Here's why I was using the scene test feature... I have a scene called "Great Room Accent Lighting" which sets various lamps to a dimmed state. My problem is that not all lamps respond with the command from the ISY/PLM. (The scene uses RemoteLinc button 5 to activate ISY to send the signals to set-up the Accent Lighting scene.) I used the scene test feature and some of the lights, although not always the same lights, failed sometimes but passed other times. I thought Insteon modules reported the status (Off/On/Dim/Bright) back to the ISY and would not show a module as being ON when it is actually OFF or never turn on in the first place. Is this not true? Thanks for your assistance with this!
  9. I see this message almost everytime I attempt to log into my ISY from a non-local computer. "Socket open failed Java.netSocket timeout exception". Sometimes I see this message as well- "Socket open failedJava.lang.Illegal state exception: SSL ContexImpl is not initialized" Am I doing something wrong? When this happens I can usually get to my programs but my network is unavailable. After several tries I can usually get in. Thanks!
  10. Okay, I tried this script but it still says in the Program Summary that the NEXT run time will be at TONIGHT at 15 minutes before sunset. Yes, the program will run every night but it will be evaluated as True or False depending on the Date condition. Rand... Plato is older than that! It's been in almost flawless service for close to 18 years! I'd still be using it if it were Insteon ready! Above you said the program will "run" every night but will be evaulated as true or false. Can you elaborate on what the difference between true and false is? And, are you saying the program will PHYSICALLY run (turn on the lights) or does it just SHOW it will run in which case will the status be false??? Since I seem to better understand the folders I'll probably just continue to use them but I do want to understand the True and False evaluations! Thanks so much for your time in helping a newbie like myself. Maybe some day I'll be able to answer some of the questions posted here!!!
  11. Okay, I tried this script but it still says in the Program Summary that the NEXT run time will be at TONIGHT at 15 minutes before sunset. I tried something else which seems to work... I created a winter and summer folder. I placed my summer programs in the summer folder then created an "If" that only allows the programs in this folder to run from April 1, 2009 to October 31, 2009. With this creation the next scheduled run time for my summer folder is April 1, 2009. In the actual program I created an "If" that reads: Time is Sunset + 15 minutes. Can you tell from this information if the summer program will begin running on April 1, 2009? I can tell you that last night the backyard lights did NOT turn on so I'm thinking this latest idea may be working. I created the same type of script for the winter folder and all programs in the winter folder ran last night without issue! Thanks for your assistance with this. As I said I'm new to the ISY and I'm sure I'll get it down real soon. I wanted a program that was as close to my very old Plato Houselink and SmartHome suggested the ISY!
  12. I am very new to ISY and I am having much trouble getting two programs to function correctly. I'm not even sure I understand enough about the issue to describe it correctly but I'll tell you what I to do. I want the lights in our back yard to come on only during the summer months when we are outside more. In the winter months I do not want these lights to come on at all. I can set up a program to begin running on April 1 and end on November 1 and in the Program Summary tab it says next scheduled run time will be on 2009/04/01 which is fine. My problem appears when I tell the program to run at 15 minutes after sunset. When I do that, the Program Summary tab says the next scheduled run time is whatever the current date is. What am I missing here?
  13. Can someone tell me what the difference is between: Switched Off in status and just Off in control?
