  1. There is a replace function that I recently used with success on a FanLinc replacement: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Replacing_a_Device Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. That's what security cameras are for! My favorite is the Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z; $170 shipped direct from China. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. You did not mention what price you consider expensive, but I purchased a 60 W dimmable transformer on Amazon for around $79 last year, and it works fine with a LampLinc. Mark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Interesting. I have had two I/O lincs (V2.3) on my garage doors for three years, and I have never experienced hardware failures or random door opening issues. Maybe they had problems with older hardware revisions? Mark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I use the Smartenit EZ flora controller which has eight zones, one of which can be used to trigger a pump. Others may better ideas. Mark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I'm impressed you went through all that research. I was lazy and just ordered the Insteon doorbell kit! [emoji57] You did make me start to think about possibly using the unused "rear" (ding) sound of my doorbell, as I also don't have a rear bell. I don't have anything relevant to add to assist you, but I will follow this thread with interest. Mark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. This is the order of syntax I use for controlling fans; the speed is the last word in the voice command. It works, except sometimes it gets confused between the multiple fans that I have and asks me which device to I want to control. Mark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Thanks. They didn't mention in the promo video what cameras work but I found an article that confirms it is going to work with the Ring and Arlo cameras. I suppose there will be more to support it later because I saw they added video or whatever to the Alexa skills API. I decided to go with the Skybell HD due to my specific front door situation, in an alcove and no light inside it. I don't need the wider field of view of the Ring Pro, but I do need the better night vision capability of the Skybell HD. Mark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I was thinking about the Skybell HD due to its Amazon Alexa integration. Also was thinking they might have video integration with the forthcoming Echo Show, but time will tell. Curious if you considered the Ring Pro's Amazon AVS integration status, not that it is a big deal at this point, without video support. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Echo Show

I pre-ordered two also; I need help! Hi, my name is Mark, and I am an Echoholic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I have experienced this with a scene controlling a single device (LampLinc); it does not happen all the time, so I considered this an Insteon communication issue Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New Dot

I solved the connection issue for the Echo Dot device furthest from the router by adding another "IoT" router in my basement, directly below the room where the Dot with connection issues is located. I was able to connect this device to 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi and it has not dropped the connection. Mark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I have a problem but it turned out to be the cable that was working intermittently. I guess that doesn't help you. sorry Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New Dot

Thanks for the info. Switching to 2.4 GHz was the first thing I tried for the Echo farthest from the router. I also tried this for the Echo close to the router, but it also had connection issues so I switched back to 5.0 GHz. I also have a separate "IoT" wireless access point (WAP) just for my IoT devices, so I don't think router throughput is an issue. Channel assignments between the multiple WAP's might require closer scrutiny. Eventually the IoT WAP will be on a separate sub-net once I finish running some additional required Category cable. I will just keep an eye on things, and maybe it can be fixed with modifications to my wireless setup Mark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New Dot

I am experiencing Wi-Fi dropouts on two of my new v2 Dots. One is positioned the furthest from the router, so might explain the issue. The other one is within spitting distance of the router, however. To re-establish the Wi-Fi connection, I can either place it in setup mode and then take it out of setup mode, or initiate a power cycle; in either case, the device reconnects. Is anyone else experiencing intermittent Wi-Fi connectivity issues? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New Dot

I removed the Power from one of the new echo dots to put a shorter USB cord on it. Upon startup it wouldn't connect to Wi-Fi I had to go into the app and put it in set up mode and reselect the Wi-Fi. I am using 5.0 GHz exclusively and this is one of the furthest ones away from the router so that could be an issue but given the other Wi-Fi issues I've had with the new version two dots I am thinking that they have some minor Wi-Fi issues, but maybe it is only with 5.0 GHz. New Dot

Those are the same software versions I have on my generation one and generation two Dots, respectively. You said you placed them next to each other maybe if they are too close to ESP doesn't work? Maybe you should try moving them further apart? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think unique IDs would need to be supported by Amazon (obviously) as well as the ISY portal. Outside of those limitations I would see it operating the same way does now. Instead of having ISY Portal sub-accounts you would have the unique IDs that you would create the spoken commands for each desired device. The big benefit would be the need for only one Amazon account and that all the devices can have prime music as well as the other prime features that can't be shared. New Dot

Up until recently I also had a single SSID and password for both the 2.4 and 5.0 GHz radio's. That was how the original Dot and the full-size echo were connected and they didn't have a problem with initial connection, nor subsequent performance. When I set up my dedicated IOT router I separated the radio SSID's, so now I have to actively choose which one but for stationary devices it shouldn't matter, unless the radio is fickle like that. New Dot

I have experienced two instances of the new dots dropping Wi-Fi I am using 5.0 Ghz, but the units are stationary and do not move. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced Wi-Fi dropping on the new dots. Thanks. Mark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I forgot about that because I have already ceded my secondary Prime benefits to my Mom. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You will also need 5 separate Amazon accounts, as far as I understand it. Each separate Portal account is linked to each separate Amazon account, which allows customization of the spoken commands for the given linked devices. Aside from the complexity and pain of all those additional accounts--made easier with the use of a password manager--, you lose Prime Music on all but your primary Amazon account. After setup they do a software update to version 561179520. I am pretty sure they started off on something else and the interim version was 551870320. Two of them got stuck on this version and went offline, so I had to enter setup mode and re-select the Wi-Fi. YMMV Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
