The mount for the echo dot that I purchased on Etsy (the designer girls) will still work because the diameter has not changed from the old to the new versions . I learned about this "Etsy" mount in this forum. Thinking hard about getting a six pack, but I think Amazon made this move because the Google home product will probably launch at the October 4th hardware event. It remains to be seen what Google home will offer as far as integration with the ISY, and how much it will cost. Mark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nevermind: If you read the posts on the previous page, I was confused on how this worked. Or one could say I was "misled" by the Wiki.

Here is what it said in the email: As a customer who purchased the previous–generation Echo Dot, you can get a $10 Alexa Shopping credit when you order the All-New Echo Dot using Alexa Shopping. Order today through October 20 and a $10 Alexa Shopping credit will be applied to your account within one week after your new Echo Dot has shipped.

According to the Wiki, you do need a another Portal account, but it is a sub-account: · Have your echos tied to 2 different amazon accounts. Create a secondary account on the original prime account using a different email address and password to log into amazon. You must deregister the new echo from the primary account and then set it up on your secondary amazon account. · In the ISY Portal: · Create a sub-account · Add your ISY to this sub-account, and approve access to it in the admin console. · Create a user profile in this sub-account for the second echo · Link this user profile with your second echo's amazon account. This is where the Wiki instructions were not clear (at least to me). You must be logged into the sub-account when you link the second Echo device. · To edit spokens for your second echo, switch to your sub-account first · To edit spokens for your first echo, switch to your root account first Once again...Argh!

I had a thread going or maybe I posted in A thread with a similar topic and Michel was posting in there and then when I finally realized that I had to login to the secondary ice my portal account for linking then he was like oh yeah that should've been clear I don't think the wiki was ever updated The very first thing in the Wiki about the Echo devices should be if you're spoken's are going to be identical you can use the same Amazon in the same ISY portal account that was definitely not clear to me at least. Anyway now I know I can use one Amazon account and one ISY portal account given my situation. Mark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Why isn't this information in the the UDI Wiki? They go to great lengths to point out the complicated steps necessary to have multiple Echo devices, and I wasted a lot of time trying to get past one intricacy (linking separate Amazon accounts) not properly identified in said Wiki! What happens when you issue smart home commands for the ISY? And it seems like you're able to only have four portal accounts because of the fact that two of your six devices have different trigger names (Alexa, Echo, Amazon) than the others. Do I understand that correctly? How many Amazon accounts so you have for those six devices? Four? Thanks. Mark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have two devices now with the required two separate Amazon accounts and two separate ISY portal accounts and if they both hear me, both will issue smart home commands, set timers, and play music. I'm not sure if that answers your question or not. Edit: I have both of them set up with identical voice commands syntax Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The selling of multiples is precisely why I am hopeful that we will no longer need multiple Amazon accounts and multiple ISY portal accounts when using multiple echo devices with the smart home V2 API. They sent an email if you previously owned a dot indicating you would get a $10 Alexa shopping credit if you order the new dot with Alexa. I don't really use it for shopping so I would have to remember to use it to take advantage of the $10 credit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You do realize you will need six separate Amazon accounts and six separate ISY portal accounts right? Mark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have had the Echo Dot connected to both computer speakers and now to an old stereo AVR and over the course of approximately four months I have not noticed any audio issues, but I guess I could've missed it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I wonder if the forthcoming software update will now allow multiple echo devices on a single Amazon account to work with the SmartHome V2 and one ISY portal account? I already have two Amazon and ISY Portal accounts for my two Echo devices if I want to get a third now I need three accounts for each! Argh! First world problems! Two Echos in two different homes with two different ISY
giomania replied to gduprey's topic in Amazon Echo
I got this to work successfully, but clearing the browser cache or two separate browsers were not the solution. The solution was to log into my ISY Portal sub-account (vice the main account). When I did that, I clicked on "My Profile", and successfully linked my second Amazon account. I guess this makes sense, as the ISY Portal "My Profile" section is tied to the account to which you logged in. After linking the second Amazon account to my sub-account, I logged out, and then back into my ISY Portal main account, and set up my two separate devices as noted in the Wiki. Thanks to everyone for their input. Mark -
Two Echos in two different homes with two different ISY
giomania replied to gduprey's topic in Amazon Echo
Thanks Michel, Would it also work if I clear the cache after I register the first Echo? Then perhaps the "Amazon account linked to:" box would be blank, and I would be allowed to enter the secondary Amazon account email when linking the ISY Portal sub-account profile. I believe some of the steps in the original instructions posted earlier to be unnecessary, so please let me know if this modified course of action makes sense, given my situation: Log into the ISY Portal to create a sub-account within the Main account. In the ISY Portal, click on the "Users" tab, select the drop-down "Main Account", then click on "Add user" Create the sub-account. Registering the ISY to the new sub-account as per the instructions in the Wiki. In the ISY Portal, register the first Echo to the first Amazon account. Either in the "ISY" or "Users" tab, ensure the "[Main Account]" is selected in the drop-down box. Click on "My Profile" and then click "Link this profile to an Amazon account". In the "Sign in to ISY Portal using your Amazon account" box that pops up, enter the first Amazon account email and password. Clear Browser Cache In the ISY Portal, register the second Echo to the second Amazon account. Either in the "ISY" or "Users" tab, ensure the sub-account is selected in the drop-down box. Click on "My Profile" and then click "Link this profile to an Amazon account". In the "Sign in to ISY Portal using your Amazon account" box that pops up, enter the second Amazon account email and password. Thanks. Mark -
Two Echos in two different homes with two different ISY
giomania replied to gduprey's topic in Amazon Echo
Hi Michel, Yes, I do see "Unlink this Amazon account" in My Profile, and have used it several times. The issue is that I am unable to specify a different Amazon account after one has already been linked. Perhaps it is my password manager that is preventing this, so I will try turning that off when I try again tonight. I also linked my two Amazon accounts using Prime Family or something like that, so maybe that is an issue? The result of this linking is that when I log into the Alexa app with either Amazon account, I see both Echo's listed. I logged into my secondary Amazon account on the Alexa app when I set up the second echo, so that was set up correctly. Any other thoughts on what may be causing this inability to link two separate Amazon accounts? Thanks. Mark -
Two Echos in two different homes with two different ISY
giomania replied to gduprey's topic in Amazon Echo
Thanks for the reply. I would like to clarify your instructions and I have questions (see items in bold below). I question why some of these steps are necessary, but perhaps it is because you don't know how bad I screwed things up, and this process mitigates most issues? Delete all ISY Portal accounts. Not sure if this is necessary, especially because I suspect the problem is that the Amazon account linking is not working as it should. when I click on "My Profile" in the ISY Portal, the "Email address" cannot be changed, the "My preferred ISY" can be changed, and the "Link this profile to an Amazon account" cannot be changed. I really think this is where the issue is, because this does not seem to behave like it should? In the Amazon Alexa app, go to Settings, Alexa Devices, and deregister each Echo. Quit and restart the Alexa app. In the Amazon Alexa app, register the Echo that you want to be the main Echo. I assume I would need to log into the Alexa app using the Amazon account for the "main Echo", since the Echo's are tied to two different Amazon accounts? Follow the instructions to create an ISY portal account (do you need that?) I am pretty sure you need this, but maybe if I re-create the same ISY Portal account credentials, then the approval process in the ISY Admin console would not be necessary, as noted in the Wiki (included below)? ISY Portal Account SetupThere are three steps for having ISY communicate through ISY Portal: 1. Creating an account on " ISY Portal if one does not exist (click on the Create new account link). If one already exists, simply login 2. Registering ISY with your account in ISY Portal using ISY's UUID (Help | About - also included in your invoice). To do this click on the Add ISY button and copy/paste the UUID from your invoice or order notification 3. Giving permission to ISY to communicate with ISY Portal Login to the Admin Console Click Configuration | Portals tab You will see a request for access from your account in ISY Portal Approve it Add a device(s) in the ISY Portal to the Amazon Echo. Run the device discovery in the Amazon Echo. Test the device(s) added via the Amazon Echo. After that's working, create a second Amazon account. (if you haven't already done so). I do have the second Amazon account already. Log into the ISY Portal to create a sub-account within the Main account. Is there some trick to this, as maybe that is where I went astray before? In looking at the ISY Portal, perhaps this should say: In the ISY Portal, click on the "Users" tab, select the drop-down "Main Account", then click on "Add user" Register the second Echo to the second account. I experienced difficulty with this process, as when I click on "My Profile" in the ISY Portal, the "Email address" cannot be changed, the "My preferred ISY" can be changed, and the "Link this profile to an Amazon account" cannot be changed. I really think this is where the issue is, because this does not seem to behave like it should? Could this be a browser issue? I am using Chrome, if that matters. Thanks for any input. Mark -
Two Echos in two different homes with two different ISY
giomania replied to gduprey's topic in Amazon Echo
I received my second echo today, and am unable to get this to work. I am having problems with the Amazon account linking, as I am now only able to link one Amazon account, which is the secondary account; I can no longer choose the Amazon account. It seems as if the "My Profile" in the ISY Portal is only for the account you used to log in, and is not applicable to the various user accounts. The original echo is now unlinked from my primary Amazon account, and has no devices now; Argh! I followed the instructions on the Wiki, but ran into issues with the two parts in bold. Help! Instructions for using Multiple Echos Smart Home Have your echos tied to 2 different amazon accounts. In the ISY Portal: Create a sub-account Add your ISY to this sub-account, and approve access to it in the admin console. Create a user profile in this sub-account for the second echo Link this user profile with your second echo's amazon account. To edit spokens for your second echo, switch to your sub-account first To edit spokens for your first echo, switch to your root account first Of course, you can have as many echo as you want, with each their own sub-account, user profile and set of spokens. -
Understood. I had also tested that by turning on one of the other valves and zone 8 did not show as "on" in the admin console, but that was before I fixed my wiring issue. I don't know what was going on with my EZFlora, or if the wiring issue had any affect on its operation (doesn't make sense that it would), but it is fixed now.
-
Good to know. Will update soon.

Thanks for the responses Lee. I managed to fix it, and here is what I did: I moved the wire for zone 8 to zone 7, and it wasn't turning on the valve. I got out my multi-meter and discovered a continuity issue in the zone 8 wiring (user error). I fixed the wiring issue, and then the valve worked connected to zone 7. I re-installed the wire to the zone 8 valve on the EZFlora zone 8 and it still did not work; the admin console gui did not indicate the valve was turned on. Just to be sure, I checked for voltage on the EZFlora zone 8 terminal, and there was none. I removed the EZFlora from the ISY, factory reset it, and re-added it to the ISY. Everything now worked on zone 8, both in the admin console GUI and valve actuation. Whew! Mark

Thanks Lee. I was thinking if the pump configuration was the issue, that the valve connected to zone 8 on the EZFlora would then also be turned on (and show as on in the ISY GUI) when one of the other zones was active; Is that correct? When I turn on the other valves, my "zone 8" does not show in the ISY GUI as on, and the valve does not come on. If that is the normal behavior when set to pump control, then it could be a wiring issue to the valve. I can test this by connecting my "zone 8" valve to one of the other functioning zones. Mark
