Im not using the ground screw at all. I went from white to each black wire I get just varying voltage 5-10 volts bouncing around. I measured black too black wire Im getting 118 volts. Wish I could send a picture of what I am seeing.

Guy, No Electric heating in the garage and not aware of 220 in the garage. . The old switch has 3 screw terminals, and 4 places you can insert the wire into the back of the switch, just push the wire into the switch instead of the screw terminls. 2 holes in the switch show "Comon" the red wire in the box does go to the old switch. Both black wires and the red wire in the switch box were going to the old switch, the white wire (2 soldered) were taped behind the switch (not being used for this switch). This switch is just a on/off switch for 2 light bulbs on the ceiling. This switch is the only switch I am aware of to turn the garage light on.
  4. I am trying to upgrade my garage on/off switch with the Insteon 2477S switch. Wiring in the switch box has 2 black and 1 red wire, there is a white taped wiring that is behind the switch not used for this switch, I have voltage tested the wiring, between the 2 black wires I show 118V on the meter. No matter what wiring configuration I use it doesent work, I have even hooked up the white (netural) wire of the switch to the white taped wire in the switch box ,no difference. House was built in the 60's. Any ideas??

Thanks everyone, I ordered from Insteon website, thought I could get better pricing somewhere else. Home Depot had about a $10 difference but as everywhere else they are out of stock.

Hello, I have posted this before, I am looking for a on/off smart switch to control my LED ceiling light in my garage, I have been searching for the Insteon 2477S 3 way switch, they seem to be out of stock everywhere except ebay. Anyone have a replacement equivalent or guide me to a seller for the Insteon 2477S switch? I would use this in conjunction with Insteon or Philips motion sensors.

Any recommendations on a smart on/off wired wall switch. I am presently using Insteon and Philips motion sensors, I just need on/off feature via a motion sensor. I have used the smart switches from Insteon which are bulky and wont fit in the 3 switch box currently using. Thanks

Geddy, I purchased the serial cable from UD last week along with the eisy, I dont see a owners manual for the eisy unit and somewhat lost in hookup and operation. On the serial cable I assume I can hook up to any of the usb on the back that is going to the PLM, I do want a hard wired connection as well and have a connection going to my switch, I also have hooked it up as WiFi and I cannot get my eisy to get on my network or internet Ive turned off my virus protection for acess and still nothing. Also as with my old isy I couldnt download the admin console, I have cleared out the cache on Java. I have written a couple of tickets , Im at the point doing the remote support .

I just received my eisy Friday, I plugged my cat cable into the network, can the PLM plug into any of the usb connectors? I understand the PLM is still needed; I purchased the correct cabling for serial PLM.

  13. I have 3 Echo Dots thru out the house and work great for all my lighting and TV, In my basement when I want to turn my TV and 3 or 4 lights off I need to go thru each light to turn it off then the tv which aggravates my wife, I would like to just say "turn off basement" and the lights and tv would turn off but still have control of each light and tv if need be, anyone know how to do this?? Would it be a IFTTT command I tried in the ISY & Ech setup but can only use basement command once. Thanks
  14. Anyone know if you can use your smart phone to control Universal Devices ISY & insteon modules ?? I keep losing the small Insteon 8 zone controller.
