  1. I did factory reset isy, plm and alexa app. I did not reset the switches as far as I know the do not have memory like plm or isy and when you readd them isy clears memory and overwrites new commands. Everything was factory reset then I added 20 devices which mostly work except upstairs bathroom that automatically turns off 3 switches in bathroom without a program being written at about 530 am to 6am, hence the log. With isy unplugged all switches work normal. I have only maybe 4 programs written at moment, none for the bathroom switches.
  2. Edit I forgot to mention that issue is 90% of time between 530am and 6am. Otherwise usually works good. I have no programs set in those time periods and no programs that refer to the 3 devices. That is why i presented log files because the log files should show fan, shower and vanity going off at same time but not sure what triggered it. Mostly when gf i taking a shower. So she leaves her light on phone on so she can complete her shower.
  3. I unplugged power completely from isy, and all switches worked fine no issues but even with a factory restore of ISY then re adding them had same issues Only devices that randomly change would be garage motion and hallway motion, otherwise I have no other programs. I have not I assume ISY would over write everything in the switch when added. 10 years of insteon and never had this issue with several new complete reinstalls. If there is a easy way to factory reset and add Id try but some of my devices the address has been painted over by painters, or faded. I didnt think switches retain any kind of memory and that once you add them you get prompted to erase any links. I say yes. Now I did have at a time long ago set up by UDI where my bathroom was controlled by a program written by actually the owner Michell. It kinda worked but the outcome was not what I wanted due to to single press or double press changed how program would work. My family members or guests expect 1 press and lights go on and kids that wouldnt wait double press since they know of that function. Sometimes it would take a moment to turn on and people would just press again and again outside the double press window and sometimes inside the double press window. I did have that program running to include a motion sensor which no is in a closet. I figured resetting everything except switches would fix problem and it did for maybe 2 weeks. Then it all started back up. I guess I can try to factory reset switches but the 3 switches were never linked together. Eg. Walk in bathroom motion would turn vanity on, then off in 20min. Shower light would turn on at 540am to 620 then off, if bathroom fan is switched on wait 20 min then off. I dont have access to original program Michell wrote but maybe it did integrate the 3. Now to house not sure why I was coming home to completely different switches going on while away. That has not been a issue lately. Thanks for time reading and posting to all 3 mods.
  4. Sorry took a break from this still persisting issue. I have isy 994 with the most current software. Since issue started I would have lights turn off at random and a slew of lights just turn on at same time. I would come home to a open garage door open and fans on as well as 6-8 lights on. None program related, so I unplugged the isy and used them just as remote switches, No issues during to 4 day trial. Plugged isy in bam issues. Being frustrated is factory restored isy, plm and alexa. Started fresh added only about 20 of the 80 devices, my most used, at this point I have maybe 4 programs only motion. None linked to my upstairs bathroom fan, light or vanity light. About after a week my gf is showering again and everything in bathroom goes off at about 540 am. Again I have no timers set up since fresh install and nothing linked to those 3 switches. So i used paid support with steve lee which is wonderful with home automation and could fine a issue. Now since complete reinstall I have no issues with lights turning on, just they turn off. Kinda of hairy trying to use rest room and it goes dark. So I decided since isy does not log things in real time at least for me to keep event on over 2 nights to capture what is going on and between 530 am and 550 am to see what is triggering a off command to 3 switches at same time. Now i know the isy community like all the info so I logged both level 1 and 2. I cant make head or tales of what is happening but I will attach logs for better understanding people to view and advise. Thank for any help Rob At some point it should be written in code to announce users that a switch or motion sensor is a issue. Many more lame users like me are depending on a simple user interface vs the mix/mux of hoping i can code or get it to work. I have used ISY for well over 8 years but just enough to get simple programs working. Isy need to really stream line efforts with gui to make it fool proof. I know udi is not alexa, but gui is so much simpler. ISY-Events-Log.v5.3.2__Wed 2022.04.13 06.00.15 AM.txt ISY-Events-Log.v5.3.2__Thu 2022.04.14 04.27.15 PM.txt
  5. Boy oh boy thanks for all the incite, I do have no timers set up or programs. I do however have alexa setup through the portal as I turn things on and off also I have 2 motion sensors and 3 contact sensors set up. 2 months ago while working with Steve Lee I deleted and resetup all devices. I did a factory reset on isy, plm, portal to reset alexa. Now I have never set up alexa to run any routines or timers per their app. Only to turn on and off lights and this is setup only through isy portal not alexa itself. The random lights are not connected to each other. Eg game room light is not connected to downstairs light which is also no connected to garage door etc. I do have 2 and 3 way switches installed which work fine that is extent of my automation to this point. Have another 30 devices to add. During reinstall I also factory reset every switch to narrow this issue down. Im just trying to figure what is triggering this. The biggest issue is its located mainly to my downstairs, but every now and then it will affect upstairs without rhyme or reason. Not saying isy is the issue rather asking how can I find out what can be broadcasting random signals and why. If 1 device was not working I probably would rule the switch but in morning several lights go off at different times. Not like the same 3 lights go off at same time, rather downstairs bathroom goes off then 22 seconds later game room light goes off, and on the flip side 130 pm while at work and when I come home upstairs fan is on, bedroom light is on, upstairs bathroom is on and garage is open. How do I narrow this down? I think I tried everything I could. Not sure what resources isy has for this. For me event viewer only shows what events happened as of startup. Id like to see device and command sent to start this chain of actions if possible. Unplugging ISY fixed this but weather this is a isy issue or plm or portal not sure. Not pointing fingures the isy does what it is asked so just trying to figure out what and why is isy performing random tasks. Will a new plosiy unit solve this? Im willing to pay the money to keep my girlfriend quiet but dont want to here her complain I spent 300$ to still have issues. Even though I still may buy it just because I can.
  6. So with ISY had zero issues today. Not sure of next step to narrow this down. I send the log which does not tell me much except lights are commanded on then just turn off with out a command. Does anyone have any ideas how to narrow this down? I have read articles that others have experienced but the fixes did not work for me, unfortunately. There has to be a way to see what device is sending out a command to turn on 6 random lights and open garage...right? this time and next time turn on different devices. Im just trying to figure out how to get to the root cause. Event viewer only seems to record when open at 5am im not up to set it uo as well as 145pm im at work. As stated previously I have no timers, motion sensors set up and when isy is unplugged everything works fine. Thanks for any help in advance Rob
  7. Good to know just kinda hard to swallow price point Thanks for response
  8. I have a gen 3 raspberry pi and am wondering if and how I can use it to run ploisy. A step-by-step instruction would be great if someone wrote it, a link would be just fine but to include how to register and set up, a YouTube video would be better, if not then if I get good instructions and get it working Ill upload one for future use. Thanks Rob
  9. Im a electrical specialist for Freightliner Trucks and dumb of me not to think of that. Thanks will try.
  10. So I have this issue that I cant narrow down. My lights turn on at random and off. My girlfriend tries to take a shower and the lights as well as fan just turns off, she screams at alexa to turn them back on this works for a minuet then they go back off again, she repeats this several times during the shower. Now she goes downstairs to get ready same issue. I have about 56 devices so far. I also noticed issue that at times my garage door will just open while im at work and several different lights are on when I come home. This can be frustrating for security reasons. She does not turn light on via alexa but a local tap. During day no one home to say anything to alexa or to isy but lights still turn on. I have no programs written at all. So no timer issues with any timers and the devices are not linked. Recently I deleted and factory reset ISY, PLM I do have maybe 4 z-wave switches but those never seem to be affected. Not sure what is going on if its a isy or a switch. I recently was able to get a few new switches after a previous issue with this seeing how they were older but now same issue all over again. The day in question is 3/10/2022 and times as said above are 520 am to 615am and around 145 pm. Thanks for any help ISY Log.v5.3.2__Thu 2022.03.10 04.38.25 PM.txt
  11. So with this node server Isy can pull all devices on hubitat? and use it in the isy for programming? If so will it also pull the settings eg. double tap ramp rate etc. This might be good news, Lastly since i dont use node servers, where can I download or purchase it? Tks
  12. So I had questions in another part of the forums, was having a slew of insteon devices go out one after another, started changing out switches, still had issues, finally deleted all devices from isy, plm and reset z-wave 60+ devices in my house. Started adding them back in one by 1 when I noticed one of my led flood lights was not turning on, decided to check the bulb when I noticed 5 switches just came alive, kicking my self after throwing out 5 switches I thought had failed, so I get to my first z-wave switch try to add it no avail, factory reset it then try to exclude it no luck, try to add it still nothing its about 10 feet away. Next step take it out of the wall (this is a ge switch) run a extension cord and plug it in right on top of isy, tried all the above cannot get it to add, decided to plug isy into a regular wall socket and the switch as well, put it on top of isy cannot make anything work, now im on my second board I purchased from udi, decide to buy a hubitat z-wave hub, within 4 min I was able to add devices, from second floor, now the hubitat was sitting on top of isy at this point and had no problems, and there gui is much nicer to use then the isy z-wave one, but i need to control both at same time status of z-wave says its working, any other settings that might need to be adjusted? Is there known issues with the board? Im running most current beta at this moment, is there a way to use the isy with hubitat, or hubitat with isy? Id love to just use isy but it lack some functionality for instance I have the homeseer hs-ls100+ instantly was able to add from garage approx 30 feet from the hubitat, and in thier app I can see and set temperature, in the isy I put in the parameter in and it does not report temp not sure why? For insteon I love the isy but for z-wave seems over complicated, I will be replacing my insteon with z-wave as they fail but since 90% of my devices are insteon need to find the best solution to use both together. Without a programming degree. Any help would be great thanks in advance.
  13. is there any place to see what all these configurations do or how to set them? or if they even function? Users manual does not specify any of this.
  14. The sensors work all 7 of them and the paperwork says they have these extra functions, They are not in any programs yet as im just checking status so I set high temp trigger to parameter 20, value to 650 for 65deg update rate to 1 second and byte to 2 which is what it calls for. Push the button on device and click write to devices, the same way I did for parameter 19 for temp report interval which worked so I put device in boiler room where temp is about 85 but status does not change. So was wondering if anyone has used theses extra features or is my instruction sheet for general purpose. Aka I have per instructions there is a parameter for over heat but does not trigger yet I was able to activate the temp sensor. When in past I called homeseer they say they support it on there software but to contact udi to see how to make it work on there software, to my knowledge there is a universal certification all software companies need to go through to offer z-wave, and I cant believe that udi has any less functionality then homeseer. Thats not the standard udi was built on. Its a matter of setting it up if its even a option per the device. UDI obviously works because I added a temp parameter but maybeeee a bug with rest, most likely not will err on side of user error. or device error, I do have a ticket with homeseer as well to see what it actual supports.
  15. Brad from udi was nice enough to figure out issues with adding switches, now a new issue arises, added several switches and have decent mesh. My leak sensor has so many functions when added besides leak, along with high temp low temp tamper, etc. Im only interested in high temp and low temp. I was able to change a parameter to make it actually display temp by enabling temp report interval. Now I can see actual temp, but want to send a alarm in case hvac is broken since I have a dog. I have tried 3 times to write the parameter, then the deice goes offline, eventually coming back but high temp which I set a a low 65deg for testing purposes does not change even though it reports 84 deg. Iv read that sometimes z-wave creates ghost nodes that are not supported. Im curious if anyone had actually set up other functions that pop up and how. Iv done search for the device in wiki and forums no luck. Is it normal when changing a parameter that the device is unrecognized for a bit then comes back , like a reset? 1748387082_ISYErrorLog_v5.3.2__Wed2021_05_0505_41_07PM.txt
  16. @lilyoyo1 I apologize missing the delete 1st in your post, was probably tired that day and just skimmed reply's or more frustrated. Thinking it should be plug n play and I should have known better after 10 years. Thanks for being a great host to forums. @asbril sorry to disappoint but this is my first run with z-wave all my devices are instenon until recently I found some z-wave devices that cater better to my home automation, it was learning curve still have issues but ill play with those on my time, Thanks for all the help.
  17. Finishing steps udi did figure this out however I was told this is not in any wiki, because I factory reset my devices one would assume your clear and good to go to add. Wrong my whole issue was that something was preventing them from being added you have to exclude device first, which paid support did then add, it worked right away on 4 devices that I could not previously add. So note to people who cannot add devices delete them first even if they are new or factory reset. My network and distance was fine the whole time and I performed all the correct steps EXCEPT removing before adding. all's well that ends well. zwave works now just need to figure out kinks and parameters
  18. so none of these suggestions worked, what did and I dont know at which point... but I reset the dongle, restarted isy, cleared java cache, installed a new switch and was after sometime able to add it, factory reset second switch and again after about 10min of playing around was able to add it. So now both switches work fine ... SO FAR. Did not do any programing yet ..Oh I also updated to latest beta not sure if that changed anything. Will keep adding switches on a daily basis as long as they stay online to create a better mesh. Then Ill add my leak sensors Hopefully all well, I think above solution by the GOD himself will work if you already have a decent working system not if your starting out. Alls well that ends well. A word of advice which im sure is in a wiki your first add should be closest to isy, then move slowly outwards and other forums say wait 4hours in between adding so network stables. Not sure if this is true lastly add battery powered devices. Micheal correct me if im wrong
  19. actually my issues is not with battery operated devices any more rather adding new zwave devices, I successful linked a switch (honeywell) linked leak sensors to it, now the switch it 15ft from isy. worked well decided to add a second switch about 10 ft above it to cover upstairs mind you it a small house 25x50 ft Iv tried 3 different brands of z-wave plus including another honeywell none populate the upstairs switch is about 30ft from the isy and 10 feet from the first switch which is 10 ft from isy. The firist switch goes in and out being online then no comm. Either way second switch should add since its so close to isy. I dont have a escape room or anything, just drywall and 2x4s whwn I had this issue with insteon it was allways interference, which never ended up being the case. The odd thing is that the switch close enough to isy within 10 feet line of sight keeps dropping out.
  20. I moved from insteon which I may move back, I bought z-wave leak sensors before I knew there range limitations, picked up a z-wave switch wired it up stairs and connected, to sensors, could not connect had it replaced with same issue, my house is 900 sq about 25 feet to isy replaced it and wired in a honeywell switch, isy almost instantly recognized it and it would talk to the leak sensors, tried to add a second switch to improve the rf no chance the second switch which is 10 feet away will not add, tried a different brand, no luck. the honeywell which is closest seems to cut in and out non stop. I get interference, but nothing I have should interfere with signal, the honeywell populated just fine. Faster then any other device. Either something is wrong with network or with isy but isy has been stable for years, Just amazing how the signal cuts in and out being 10 feet away from isy not their claimed 150 ft which is further then my whole house. I like z-wave but thinking of scraping it due to difficulty

  22. my question was do I have to program every parameter? and see if it supports it? If i Figure this out ill post my own wiki to help out
  23. So I decided to replace my insteon leak sensors with Z-wake was some what of a hurdle. I managed to add 2 leak sensors when I found out they dont work well without extenders/repeaters before I spend a ton of money I have a few switches that are giving me issues that I plan on replacing with z-wave switches because they already act as repeaters with a much longer reach. My question is when added so many options arrived like low and high temp, battery level when added all blank but binary, now i have searched wiki and forums for programming instructions uncertain if I have to add each parameter 1 by 1 or if they show up but not available for this model. This sensor is great if all available options work. I have a service dog (well all pets matter) but I would like to know if ac went out or heat, or I have a leak, or dog kicked over the sensor. These are all great functions if there was a wiki or you tube video how to set this up. attached is a ss of what I see and only changes I can make are in binary. Also will a insteon device control a z-wave device if its added as a controlle/responder? Im migrating from insteon to z-wave slowly as devices fail. Thanks in advanced
  24. I want to buy this switch will it work with isy if so will it be difficult to setup? or is is straight forward like insteon. https://iottysmarthome.com/products/iotty-smart-switch?variant=13033148645475&currency=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gclid=CjwKCAiAgc-ABhA7EiwAjev-j-01s_oooTw_X9ad-k_5WrUzPynogbX3E0TnkD3z5t_8AtAr9Bxk_xoCeREQAvD_BwE Thanks in advanced
