F5 is a browser refresh (for Windows). For the Mac use Command + R.
Might even need to try a "hard refresh" - for the Mac that's Command + Shift + R.
  2. Geddy's post in Admin Console does not load was marked as the answer
@abrayshaw (split your post out of a resolved topic that had no activity for 4 months so you might get more attention to your situation.)
First off, please confirm you're running ISY994. Let us know (if you can) what Firmware and UI you are running. I realize that if you can't get into admin console (to get the UI), but if you're seeing the ISY on launcher it should say what Firmware the device is running.
Did you select all three boxes in this process? The 3rd box clears the installed IoX Launcher icon from the Windows desktop. You'll need to download a new start.jnlp from the UD website to put the icon back on the desktop.
Alternate method would be to download the admin.jnlp file directly from the ISY (web browser go to: http://ip.address.of.isy/admin.jnlp).
Last question: What computer OS are you using? Windows, MacOS, other
Make sure you've got "plain" java downloaded directly from java.com and not a special version or higher version than just downloading from java.com (showing current as of today: Version 8 Update 441).
  3. Geddy's post in USB Extender Problem was marked as the answer
I've got my Z-Matter dongle connected with a standard USB Extension cable of about 3 feet (similar to this one: https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-3-Feet-Female-Extension-105432/dp/B002KKZAIU/). I've had it this way for the last couple of years just to get the device mounted on the back of my equipment cabinet to be away from the case or other metal cases in the cabinet I have network and other electronics in. I have a few Z-Wave devices and a few Zigbee devices and can't remember a time that they were unreachable or noticed the dongle to not be connected. It has happened, but not often enough for me to worry about it. Usually a reboot/power cycle of the eisy brought things right back.
Honestly, for the first 6 months or so of having the eisy+Z-Matter it was directly connected to it. I only added the extender as a precaution to remove the weight off the device directly, but also to put the antenna more in the "open".
I believe there were a lot of comments about running USB Extension cables a couple of years ago(maybe when Polisy came out, but again when eisy was released). Might find those posts using Google Site Search since forum search won't find archived topics.
  4. Geddy's post in DHCP Only? was marked as the answer
Been that since eisy was released.  UD had so many support issues with people setting static on the ISY994 that they seemed to disable it in a Polisy update and since eisy release.
It’s best to reserve the IP at the router level. Has been the suggested process for many years.
  5. Geddy's post in admin console not starting was marked as the answer
@tpventure welcome to the UD forums. Sorry you're having difficulty. What computer OS are you running?
IoX Admin Console is developed to best run with the standard Java version downloaded from java.com (currently Version 8 Update 441 updated January 21, 2025).
If you're on Windows (or sometimes MacOS) your best bet would be to remove all versions of Java and download directly from java.com for your operating system. In Windows you will need to make sure that start.jnlp is associated with Java Web Launcher (javaws.exe), which is typically found in the Java/(version)/bin directory (for Windows anyway).
The eisy/IoX Launcher is exactly the same as the ISY Launcher that you probably used with the ISY994 if you've accessed the admin console since 2018.
If you continue to have problems with the start.jnlp you can attempt the direct connection method of getting the admin.jnlp (http://eisy.local:8080/admin.jnlp - if doesn't resolve .local replace "eisy.local" with your eisy IP address) from the eisy, but it seems that you're using a different java platform to access it and it's not loading properly. Resolving that should get you back up and running with Admin Console.
  6. Geddy's post in UD Mobile Geofence triggers not working was marked as the answer
“Switched” is typically a physical operation of the device.
”Status” is what is reported back to the ISY/IoX system.
If you mean that you have Geofence programs that are sending notifications and you use switched then those won’t fire because Geofence interaction is only changing the “status” of the device.
Maybe posting the program (right click on the program and select “Copy to clipboard” then paste (as text) here for review and help. If it’s not UD Mobile/geofence related then start a new topic in the IoX Program Support area.
  7. Geddy's post in Sunset of Java interface impact on ISY944 was marked as the answer
@PaulB since the ISY994 is no longer supported by UDI my guess would be that you would still be able to use the Java Admin Console interface that it has always had. The new update will only apply to the newer eisy (and I guess Polisy, but that's just my guess).
Since the ISY994 uses the IoX Finder (start.jnlp) and Java I don't expect that to end. You shoudl also be able to continue to use the admin.jnlp downloaded directly from the device.
No new development is for the ISY994. Therefore the mention of updated method to access admin console (or the re-design whatever it will be considered) only applies to currently supported devices.
  8. Geddy's post in Temp update was marked as the answer
@drprm1 I believe they are fetched based on short or long poll values in the config section of the plugin. The real question is probably how often does YoLink update. You can't force an update in the YoLink system so you're at the mercy of when they update then the plugin will update on next poll following the change at the YoLink level.
I forget what the default values are/were, but I've got mine set short = 600 and long = 1800. I don't have a need for more frequent update, but I also still have the YoLink app on my phone to get alerts if temps go out of my range.
  9. Geddy's post in Bulb and Group name changes was marked as the answer
Unsure how this works, but remember that the Hue plugin hasn’t been updated in a long time and isn’t using an official API for its workings.
My suggestion is after you make the changes on the phone app make sure you aren’t logged into the Admin Console. Open the web access for PG3x and restart the Hue plugin. It might pick up the new light names. You might have to do this several times. Once you see the new node names in the web access then log out of that and open Admin Console. It should then update the names to match the PG3x nodes seen on the plugin.
If simple restarts of the plugin don’t help you might have to remove the old device names and then restart the plugin.
I would suggest you get things setup the way you want them before connecting the plugin in again because it apparently isn’t instantly updating device names.
  10. Geddy's post in SMTP Settings was marked as the answer
First I would update to the current firmware (5.8.4), while that alone might not fix the issue working with the current firmware can help limit other problems that have been addressed since your version.

Then be sure to review the steps in the wiki for Gmail account setup. These were confirmed earlier this year. Some options might have changed slightly, but they still work.

    https://wiki.universal-devices.com/ISY994:Configure_Mail_Server_Settings#Configuring_gmail_Account

I’m not exactly sure what your errors mean as there isn’t specific meaning in the wiki for those errors and most mentions in the forums relate back to ISY994 issues, but might shed some light on what resolves them (I didn’t read many of the older posts….use Google Site Search to find them).
Since using the eisy you might want to review using the Notification plugin and UD Mobile or even Pushover to get alerts sent to your mobile device rather than the older email method.
  11. Geddy's post in Nest not working and can't find in plugin purchases or plugin store was marked as the answer
@joeria check in the "non-production" store. Not sure why it's been removed from production. That's something @Goose66 would need to chime in on.
Might have something to do with this post:

  12. Geddy's post in Unable to edit time schedule in program ISY V5.3.4 was marked as the answer
@CraigB1 when you're in Admin Console please check the UI you're using. Make sure the firmware and UI match.
    Help -> About
Also, have you changed the font size in the themes that it might be too large to show the time/number in the window?  (I recall there was a size that once caused some options to be too large for the boxes, but I forget what font size that was.)
Lastly, check that you're not enlarging the admin console through Windows settings to magnify the display as it might be chopping off the bottom portion of the window and you don't notice it.  (Look at:  Settings > System > Display, then under "Scale & layout"
I'm not using the ISY994, but am on Java 1.8.0_431-b10 and don't have the issue.
In your testing have you been sure to clear the java cache and selecting all 3 boxes? Then delete any old versions of start.jnlp or admin.jnlp you might have and download fresh from UD site or admin.jnlp directly from your ISY994.
With your cropped screenshot it's hard to determine if you've got a display issue or something else happening.
To be certain...are you saying you don't see/have the "Add to 'If'" or the "Update" button?

  13. Geddy's post in Backup issue - Could not parse Configuration File was marked as the answer
@joe.murphy@snet.net split your post out from old thread since the other one was solved (and old). If you haven't updated from PG3 to PG3X (if you're on Polisy) please attempt that then run the update package process in Admin Console again. Be sure not to be logged into both PG3/PG3x and Admin Console at the same time.

    Otherwise, please review and advise:
your Firmware and UI (and don't just say "latest version" please post version number).
Confirm what device you are using.
Make sure you are not running any Anti-virus, firewall, or VPN and are on the same network as the device you are backing up.
Make sure your Java version is up to date (Version 8 Update 431 as of the date of this post).
  14. Geddy's post in Backup much much faster? was marked as the answer
yes, per the recent update announcement:

  15. Geddy's post in New PC, cannot load start.jnlp was marked as the answer
You need to use "javaws.exe". (Java Web Start)
Putting the Java folder in "Program Files" rather than the (x86) file just means you've installed the 64bit version. That's perfectly fine and not an issue.
Do you by chance run OneDrive (or other cloud storage) and backup the desktop and run on multiple computers? I ran into an issue that I was backing up the desktop on two different laptops and it would always break the IoX Launcher process. I ended up having to turn off backing up the desktop. I don't make a habit to keep things on my desktop so it doesn't really need backing up. It's mostly just shortcuts to often used apps, but that's what I use the taskbar for now these days so my desktop typically only has IoX Launcher on it. If you are running OneDrive once you have IoX Launcher showing right click on it and select "Always keep on this device" (I'm not sure if it helps, but I did that too and haven't had any further issues).
Make sure you remove the old version of Java and download the current available version from java.com (Version 8 Update 431 - as of this posting). There are reasons that Java updates. It's not advised to run older versions for java security reasons.
  16. Geddy's post in Add launcher icon was marked as the answer
@mrxmas what OS is the computer? (I only ask because it seems very easy on Windows and has special steps on macOS)
    Please review the wiki:
    https://wiki.universal-devices.com/Main_Page#Installing_the_Admin_Console_Icon_on_Your_Desktop
First thing is to get java from java.com (current version is: Version 8 Update 421 - as of this posting).
Then follow the steps in the wiki.

  19. Geddy's post in MY ISY version 5.8.4 needed was marked as the answer
@Edmund Lam be sure you clear your Java cache (selecting all three check boxes in the process).
Download a new start.jnlp from the UD website (https://www.universal-devices.com/), clicking “MY ISY” on the top right of the image on the home page.
    This should fix the issue.
  20. Geddy's post in Simplest programs won't run was marked as the answer
Yep! Your root is FALSE. Clear out your conditions in that folder. It shouldn't be red like that.

Should be how the root "My Programs" should look.
If you want/need to run folder conditions I would suggest making another folder and only putting programs in there that need to be controlled by the folder conditions.
  21. Geddy's post in Notification for new firmware release was marked as the answer
@twired the best way is to follow the "Current Release Announcement" area of the forums. It will send you an email when new posts are made. Only UD can post there and it's only for releases. It covers IoX, PG3x, UD Mobile and any other "releases" that they make.
    https://forum.universal-devices.com/forum/339-current-release-announcements/
Click the "Follow" button at the top right for the whole area then make the settings for the notifications that fit your interest for getting notifications.

PS: The ISY994 hasn't had the notification of firmware updates since 5.x became an option since the move from 4.x to 5.x required a manual update process all subsequent updates in the 5.x world were manual as well.

  23. Geddy's post in ISY finder: not found was marked as the answer
@62vetteefp Lots of good help above, but your information seems to be all over the place. It appears that your ISY994 might not even be on the network. I think you need to review the setup for your network.
You have an AT&T modem/router/gateway from what you state above.
Connected to that you have an EERO device (this is a router). Do you have the EERO setup as an access point or is it also trying to act as a router? If so you probably have poor network setup and something isn't allowing the ISY994 and your laptop to talk to each other.
What is the network cable of the ISY994 plugged into?
On your computer what OS are you running? Are you running any VPN or Anti-Virus software? If so turn them all off.
No, you DO NOT need to have Portal to be able to access your ISY994 as long as you are local to the device.

However when you were logged into the portal could you see the UUID of your ISY994? The UUID should also be the MAC address that you would see on the router. (NOTE: I did just plug my old ISY994 in and it seem to be the case for me. I do NOT have this ISY994 connected to the portal account so it doesn't show up there for me, but did show up in the ISY Finder window and I confirmed by looking at the MAC addresses connected to my router.
I say this so that if/when you get on the router that the ISY994 is connected to you should see a MAC address that matches the UUID when you look at connected devices.
In the end...I suspect this is a networking setup issue that you have that should be worked our.

This also points to it being a network related issue. Sounds like the ISY994 is unable to connect to an outside time server. It's possible that it hasn't been working correctly since the time change (if your area adjusts for daylight saving time). Also by not being able to connect to the time server if the device has floated time it's possible it could be far out of sync of the "real" time.
  24. Geddy's post in It has been some time since I got in to my ISY And need some help. was marked as the answer
@Tony-D unsure how to run Java on rpi5, but you need some sort of java platform like what Windows users have for javaws. Perhaps the best bet since you're on rPI would be to use the direct admin.jnlp downloaded from the ISY994 rather than trying the launcher (that has been the standard for over 6 years).
Try:  http://ip.of.the.isy/admin.jnlp   (be sure to change to put your actual IP address for your ISY994)
No browsers are necessary. It's all independent of the browser. Once you have the admin.jnlp it should log directly into the ISY994. Note: If you ever update the firmware you'll need to clear you Java cache and download the admin.jnlp again from the updated firmware.
If you still have access to your friend's windows Laptop make sure it's on the same network as the ISY994, download the start.jnlp from the UD website (clicking on "MY ISY" on the top right). It should put the "IoX Launcher" icon on the desktop. Use that to access the admin console. Again, no special browser process is needed. It's directly Java related since all browsers dropped the Java script method used many years ago.
One thing to consider is if you set a static IP address on the device and changed routers you could have changed your DHCP table and the ISY994 might not be connecting to the new DHCP range. Since you still have your old ISP and if/when you can get into the ISY994 make sure you change it to Dynamic IP so the ISY994 will connect to the new router. You should then setup an IP reservation on the new router/gateway so the ISY994 is always at that IP. DO NOT SET STATIC ON THE DEVICE!

  25. Geddy's post in POLISY = EISY? was marked as the answer
I believe this is normal. You can find other conversion comments in the forums that seem to indicate this is expected. Make sure you follow the rest of the steps that @Techman linked to in the wiki. Pay attention that the user/pass will now be the same as admin console access.
Once you confirm you have PG3x then run the upgrade process again and you should update to IoX 5.8.4 (the current release)
If you did not get upgraded to PG3x in the process then please open a support ticket to get specific help for this issue.
    https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets/
If I was running a Polisy I wouldn’t worry about upgrading to eisy until UD made an official announcement that they would end Polisy support/development. No need to worry about it at this moment. Also no major need (from why I can tell) to rush an upgrade to the eisy if you have a working Polisy doing what you need it to do.
