  1. Please try the suggestions outlined above. Also, are you on a Mac by chance? I’ve noticed some weirdness lately running / trying to run Start.jnlp and Admin.jnlp on my Mac, even after emptying the cache, etc. I’m not sure what the issue is myself… it might have to do with recent security updates and new anti-tracking / Private Addresses that Apple has implemented on recent versions of MacOS. —Things aren’t even consistent between two different macs when running the admin console and having downloaded them the same way. Really odd since Java is meant to run the same regardless of platform. As soon as I booted into Bootcamp running Windows 10 on my Mac, everything worked as expected. Just something to try if you happen to be Mac based yet have access to a Windows machine. (Spoke too soon... Windows had problems, too. Possibly a network communication issue. Still investigating.) As far as controlling devices, I have found the new UD Mobile to be much more responsive than other apps that have worked with my ISY in the past, even though I am running them all solely on the local network. I can only guess that those other apps need to be updated for more recent releases of iOS for them to function as well.
  2. Great job on UD Mobile (iOS.) It’s working great. A couple of requests: 1. Can we implement a setting/preference to hide devices that begin with a tilde (~) ? I believe the old web interface works that way. It makes it simple to hide devices that don’t actually control a load and reduces a bunch of duplicate/remote switches this way. 2. A setting/preference for haptic or faint audiofeedback on clicks would be nice. keep up the good work!
  3. If you want to wall mount an iPad /iPad Mini, here are a couple options (although iPort prices have gotten a bit nuts, I like their magnetic, induction-charging Launchport series for removable installations): https://www.iportproducts.com/product-overview https://www.iwalldock.com/collections/iwalldock-products/products/iwalldock-for-ipad
  4. Going back to the original post: be creative. An old iPod, iPad, iPhone or other smart phone can work as a keypad. Or how about an Insteon Mini Remote 8-Scene Keypad? Do you even need a keypad? Can you just use the smart phone that you carry with you and arm and disarm through a login over WiFi? Or make it automatic through smart device proximity?
  5. Motion sensor sensitivity can be adjusted for the number of triggers within a span of time. On top of that, utilizing multiple sensors provides validation. Sensor placement is paramount to prevent false triggers from light/heat sources. Family next door or having close neighbors is helpful if the alarm is triggered. Just think it through. A DIY ISY-based system can work in certain circumstances and environments. Just like computer/network security, there are pros & cons to every set-up. Every system has weaknesses and strengths. Most people are not going to build a safe room with an offline generator, recirculating air, back-up cellular services, etc. or install two-inch thick window glass, reinforced rebar-cement walls and steel doors & jams. A sledge-hammer to a wall or a brick to a window gets into 99.9% of most homes, so you need to ask yourself what you are trying to accomplish and how much do you want to spend.
  6. Let’s take this down a notch people. Nobody here wants to be banned for being abusive, right? Let’s just focus on being helpful. While a purpose-built alarm system might be a better solution in most cases, this is not what the original poster is interested in doing for various reasons. Having said that, I have done exactly what the OP is referring to... I utilize Insteon motion sensors, redundant power supplies, hardened cabling, and my ISY as an alarm system. I even set up motion sensors in my backyard that trigger the sprinklers to keep my dog from digging holes in the lawn. The ISY sends me alerts via text and email allowing me to ask my neighbors or the police to investigate if the alarm is tripped when I am not home. You just need to set some variable properties for “armed” or “disarmed” and activate them how you like and provide you with the response you seek.
  7. I'm running a few installations with Simple Control and ISY. One with SC 5.7.4 and ISY 5.0.14 --no huge problems, just need to do some workarounds to get ISY lighting scenes to show up on SC5's Homebar. Another install is running SC 5.7.4 and ISY 4.7.3 --this is working similar to the previously mentioned configuration. Another installation is running the older SC "legacy" with ISY 4.7.3 and is working fine, except for this: All of these installations do have problems with SimpleControl allowing the selection and play back of the listed Sonos favorites if they are from a source other than Tune-in / Internet Radio --this is has been an issue ever since Sonos updated their software and the APIs changed. Simple Control keeps stating that they are awaiting Sonos to release those APIs so that they can fix it. I haven't had any problem with these installations auto-discovering the ISY. I suspect your problem is with your router settings/firewall, likely related to Bonjour/ZeroConfig settings. UPnP opens to the outside/WAN and should not have anything to do with local/LAN discovery. Glad you got it to work with a manual IP.
