  1. Unfortunately, I need help with what should be a simple program. Currently, I have one program that turns on my outside lights at sunset, and a separate program that turns them off at 11 pm. I could not seem to easily find a way to accomplish those two actions in a single program. Is that possible?
  2. you may be correct. I was assuming (wrongly?) that if I followed the Smarthome linking process, the 2 switches would function as a 3-way by directly communicating with each other. No hub or external controller needed, and that if I followed the preferred process using the ISY, Switch A would not directly communicate with switch B, but only via an intermediary - ie the ISY. But are you stating my assumption is wrong? If I link via the ISY, but then unplug the ISY, the 2 switches will still function like a normal 3-way?
  3. OK... so I will ignore the Smarthome instructions and try the ISY version ... can someone provide a link for the basic recommended physical wiring of the 3-way using my insteon switches?
  4. If I do direct linking, wont the ISY still see any activity of that switch, and also be able to control it? If for some reason the network is down, will the switches still work, or at least one of them?
  5. I am going to replace a pair of Smarthome X-10 switches on a 3-way circuit, with Insteon 2477D. The Smarthome website has a wiring diagram, along with instructions to directly link the switches. However, it also appear I can make a 3-way circuit via my ISY994. It seems a little more direct, and likely faster operation, if I keep the ISY out of the 3-way, and just do that direct link? Any reason why that isn't a preferred solution?
  6. My ISY and computer time are off by about 9 minutes....In configuration, it is set to synchronize every 24 hours. I try to do it manually, and get the error " NTP Server DNS Error" . Appreciate response bearing in mind I am neither an advanced ISY user, nor an advanced network manager ...
  7. That might be true for the 8 button keypadlinc, but my 6-button has a large top and bottom button connected to the load, but buttons A/B/C/D are programmable and not load connected.
  8. Say button A is already programmed to directly turn on the garage light, not going thru the ISY. The instructions above will add extra tasks, they won't stop the keypad from turning in the garage light.
  9. Currently, the Keypad is directly configured ... even if my ISY is disconnected, the keypad, say, button A will turn on and off the garage light. Can the ISY be used to directly reprogram the keypad ... to change button A from controlling the garage light ... to controlling the hall light, such that the keypad will function if the ISY is turned off ...
  10. Can my ISY be used to program my 6 button ISY Keypad link - ie basic re-assignment of the A/B/C/D buttons to different tasks? The keypad link is part of my ISY setup, and I can activate buttons via the ISY, but can't figure out how to change things?
  11. Any idea when this new Dongle will be available to purchase to add to my ISY994? As my X-10 in wall switches get less reliable, I am now leaning towards going Z-wave, rather than add more Insteon ... unless someone wants to convince me otherwise?
  12. Will this new daughter board be zwave plus? What will the new features / improvements be over the original product?
  13. I don't mind buying stuff... what I don't like is renting stuff... this subscription model for almost everything in life these days really annoys me...
  14. I can create a program within the ISY, but Alexa can't control that, unless I purchase something extra. ONe can't create a program within the Insteon Hub, I don't think? I have some unused Insteon wall modules... I can plug one in call it WALL1. I can say Alexa, turn On Wall1, which the Insteon Hub executes... Meanwhile, I can program the ISY to say if Wall1 is turned on, send an X10 XYZ ON command... but this seems horribly inelegant...
  15. I've got a system that is 75% X10, 25% Insteon. I've got the ISY, and an older Insteon HUB that still handles X10 commands, but does NOT handle Alexa. I've got purchased a cheap, new HUB (actually, refurbished) that works with ALEXA for free, but this new hub won't communicate with my X10 switches. Lets say, for Example, my Office is an X10 switch. Is there some way I can give it some sort of "dummy" insteon address, so that when I say "Alexa, turn OFFICE ON" it sends the dummy insteon Office ON command, which then the ISY "translates" into the X10 office on?
