ISY99i Pro: Can't access with PLM attached

Hi folks,

Current situation: I can't access my ISY99i Pro unless I disconnect the Dual-Band #2413S PLM and let it boot into safe mode. With the PLM plugged into the 99i on boot, the Power, TX & RX lights all stay on solid and the admin console never prompts for/doesn't let me login.

I've also noticed the LED on the side of the PLM, which I believe is an activity LED, is constantly blinking. Several times per second and it never stops.

How I got here: One of my keypads stopped working today, so I hopped onto the 99i, right-clicked the keypad and hit "Restore Device." The "System Busy" bar came up, eventually got to 100%, then restarted back at 0%. It stayed caught in this loop for several hours before I gave up and closed the admin console. Attempting to re-open the console failed, so I power cycled both the 99i and the PLM and now we're here.

Any ideas? I've pulled the little switch at the bottom of the keypad in question to turn it off, but it doesn't seem to have changed the situation at all.

If one of your programs gets into a tight loop generating insteon traffic (eg event causes traffic something in that traffic causes the program to refire) all kind of bad happens. This may be what you were seeing.

I second this! I just did this last week when I meant "And" and said "Or" in an If statement.

It kept the ISY so busy, it took a good minute to get to and disable the program so I could fix it.

Thank you for the replies, folks! Even after unplugging the ISY99i, the PLM was still going crazy with traffic. I'm wondering if I had an Insteon device acting up. I've been wanting to redo my programming anyway, so I reset everything, re-linked all devices and started from scratch. Everything is working fine now.

If I run into this again, is there a way within the 99i that I can see which device(s) are generating all of the traffic?

You could just pull air gap switches one or two at a time till the problem stops. That should help narrow down the problem device(s)
