Admin Console Shuts Down

The admin console will display and let me enter the user id and password. However the window immediately closes. This happens with Firefox (19 I believe) and Java 1.7. The same problem is on Windows 8 and my MacBook Pro with the latest Apple OK. How can I fix it? Thanks, Steve

Hi -

I found and deleted udi_frame.state. In fact I searched the whole boot drive to make sure it was not found in my system. The problem still happens.

I also searched my MacBook pro for the file but could not find it. So I was unable to try this on my Apple laptop.

Anything else to try?

I tried this on another Windows 8 PC which has never run ISY nor the ISY admin console. Per the remote access... I don't know how I'd change the user id/password before as I cannot get into the ISY. If you still need that, please advise. In case this helps, I captured the Java trace/log and pasted it below. Thanks, Steve

Fixed!!! ???

Just for fun I tried to see if I could just get into the ISY without the "/admin" ("http://" instead of "http:///admin") and then go to the admin console. That worked!

Then I got out and went directly to the admin console using "http:///admin"). That worked too!

Then I cleared the Java and browser cache again and went directly to the admin console using "http:///admin"). It still worked!

So hopefully this fixed the issue.

Any thoughts about what might have been happening?

Thanks,

Steve

I am having the same problem. I am running a Mac with an ISY-994. I tried to upgrade to the latest beta version (4.0.2) to try and remedy the problem. I have also flushed my cache. However, I note that most of my devices are no longer displaying as found, the admin console keeps asking for me to type in my name and password every 20-30 seconds, and then if I try to look at my programs, the programs don't seem to load quickly. Then, when I go to the display that shows what the programs are doing, the admin console shuts itself off.

I really need some help here. I have had the system running since I bought it last summer and I did not have problems until recently. I can't explain why as no changes have occurred to my machine of the ISY.

Hi Paul,

I am so very sorry to hear. All problems are related to the latest security features of MAC blocking java.

The main problem seems to be that your Admin Console is not using the most current code base. Can you please let me know what you see when you go to Help | About? What's the UI version vs. firmware version?

Also, have you cleared your Java cache?

With kind regards,

Michel

OK. I have restarted and have accessed the ISY using my Firefox browser and the address of 10.0.1.18. I used the admin button there to access the administrative console. Same problems, but now the UI and the Firmware match with 4.0.2.

When I try to get the program to install the admin console button, it indicates it can't do so. But, then, voila, a .jnlp file is created and when I click it the program starts. But still the same problems. And the UI and Firmware match.

Hi Paul, I am so very sorry to hear about all these problems you have been having.

I think it would be best to schedule a call so that we can login and fix it.

Again, sincere apologies for the problems and tardy reply.

With kind regards,

Well, I just got caught in this rats nest today.

I couldn't add the load controller for the water heater.

Added a phase coupler.

Trying again.

Had to update JAVA as my computer said it was no longer allowed/outdated.

Now every time I try to get into the ISY whether FireFox or Chrome ... it kicks me out?

Emptied the java caches. It now shows a progress indicator prior to launching the admin console, which I'm guessing is good, same old shut down error adding nodes poof.

How productive and what a great time I'm having with this.

How do I fix this?

I am having what appears to be the same problem. New laptop running Windows 8.1 trying to launch the admin console with either IE or Firefox, the admin console launches and I am presented with the login prompt. After entering username and password, console is open for a moment then closes, and the browser tab goes to /WEB/CLOSE.HTM. Any help coming for this?

Hi,

I see this is an old thread but I appear to be having a similar issue - although I have tried all of the remedies listed above without success.

On my main computer, the admin console is unable to launch. After I log in the GUI appears for a second, then closes down.

I do not have any issue from my laptop - so the issue is either with Java, the browser, or something else.

I have tried deleting the casche, I have un-installed and reinstalled java, I have ensured that I am running the latest firmware on my ISY994IR Pro.   I have tried both Firefox (latest) and IE but nothing seems to work.

Can anyone suggest something I haven't tried?

Try the Java Application (will leave an icon on the desktop) rather than the Applet (run from the browser.)

Yes - firmware matches UI version on Help | About screen. Thanks for the thought. Still no luck. Is there a standalone Java application? I haven't found that yet but would be worth a try.

I should mention that I'm running Windows 7 64 bit on a i7 proc.

For whichever firmware version you have go to the release thread, scroll down post to where you see "download a new version of the Admin Console" and select the Java Application (before installing you might first clear your Java Cache.)

Should work fine under Windows 7 64 bit.  I suggest however updating to latest firmware when you have time.

Michel / UDI -

Just noticing this thread as I scroll through on TapATalk, and it brings up a question: Can you update us on when UDI is going to move away from Java and get things over to HTML 5 (I assume)?

I was just traveling, and wanted to leave my laptop at home, taking only an iPad. And then I thought, "No, what if I need to log in at home and make some updates"? And the ongoing problem of Apple products not quite working the same as Windows can't be helping you guys. The ISY is beginning to look "long in the tooth" (dated) despite being such a wonderful little product. This type of update might do wonders...

Thank You.

OK - I figured out my problem! My Admin console will not run when Ad-Aware is running. I need to dig a little deeper to figure out why but at least I can get the console running for now.
