Error and Memory Flashes endlessly

Hi Guys;

 

I must have had a power surge as my wifi router died and I had to buy and new one.

Since then the error and memory LEDs keep flashing (99i) and I can't figure out what to do to stop them.

 

I read a few posts pertaining to somewhat of the same issue but nothing they mentioned worked.

(unplugged cables, etc…)

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Memory and Error LED flashing is a communications problem with the network. As you may know.

On the network jack of the ISY99i. There are two LEDs. Can you see what they are showing?

On, Off, Flashing.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the network jack"

 

If you mean there should be leds on in the back of the ISY where I plug the two cables in, then there are not.

 

The only lights on the ISY that are lit are

POWER

 

and then the Error and Memory lights are flashing.

There are two small LEDs which are part of the RJ45 Jack that connects the ISY to the router. If the LEDs are not On there is something wrong with the router or the connection to it.

I have a brand new router (Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band) and I've switched out the cable.

 

A thought.

 

The wifi now would have a different address or IP or network name.

Would I go into the GUI and change something?

How do I get the ISY Finder to locate my 99i?

Did you verify the two LEDs on the network jack of the ISY99i are On or Flashing with traffic?

Does the router have any LEDs for the port the ISY99i is connected to and are they indicating any traffic or connections?

Can you go into your routers setup area and see what address it assigned the ISY99i?

I'm at work right now so I can't do some of this stuff.

 

There are no LEDs on the network jack lit or flashing or otherwise.

 

I can check the router display tonight.

Routers are all different, but, in general, it involves logging into the router and navigating through the various configuration pages to one that shows the IP address and port number. I understand, too, that the address is different depending on whether you are on the LAN (inside your network) or WAN (outside your network, via the internet).

I logged into my router and I see many things (ipad, laptop, etc…) and they all have IP addresses but no ISY

Is the ISY configured with a static IP?

If the ISY is using DHCP then the router should know about it and assigned an IP address except neither of the RJ45 jack LEDs are On which makes me think the router is not physically aware of the ISY. Perhaps opening a Ticket with UDI tech support to get a definitive answer about the two RJ45 jack LEDs. I always thought at least one LED would be On when there is a functional connection between the ISY and a router.

I would also recommend you open a ticket with UDI Support.

 

On my ISY994i and ISY99i. Both the small network jack LEDs are On and one flashes with network traffic.

 

Found your Routers Users Manual online. The front panel LED for the LAN Port the ISY99i is connected to. Should also be On or flashing with network traffic to the ISY99i.

Your started the conversation by saying a power surge must have taken out your router. Now you're not seeing the network LEDs on the ISY light up. Seems likely that either you didn't correctly connect the new router to the RJ-45 jack on the ISY, OR the power surge that took out your router also took out the RJ-45 jack on the ISY. The latter wouldn't be all that uncommon if it was indeed a power surge that took out your router. I would take the ISY and set it right next to the router. Connect a cable directly from one of the router's LAN ports to the RJ-45 jack on the back of the ISY. If you still don't see the LED's underneath the ISY's RJ-45 jack light up then you can be pretty sure that your ISY had it's network jack fried when your router died. As Lee and Brian suggested, working directly with UDI is the best way to resolve the issue.

Having seen similar things happen with the remote controlled two way radio equipment I use to service.

Surge would hit the base station and follow the wiring into the control console.

The possibility of the network circuit in the ISY99i being fried by a surge is possible.
