default SSL cert

When I connect to my ISY(s), I get the warning that says: ISY is currently configured with the default SSL certificate: This is a security risk.

When I click no Request/Manage SSL Certificates nothing happens. This is also true when I select Help => Request/Manage SSL Certs from the app.

I was running is a certificate installed from quite a while back but perhaps this got removed when I upgraded my isy from a 99 to a 994? Not sure what I need to do to remedy this....

Tom

ps: this is with 4.0.5

Do you not have to be connected locally to work with certificates? Thought that was done for security reasons to prevent someone from the outside affecting certificates.

This problem happens if I am connected remotely or locally.

Tom

The problem being that certificate management cannot be accessed when connected locally?

Have you tried Help | Request/Manage SSL certificates?

Hi Tom,

On 994, the link should take you to:

http://www.universal-devices.com/docs/I ... 0Guide.pdf

Basically, what you need to do:

1. Read and familiarize yourself with the concepts

2. Follow the instructions on page 9 section d to create a self signed certificate

With kind regards,

Michel

Michel,

I understand the concepts, I have a cert. How do I install it on the ISY, since I get no response to the menu item?

Tom

Hi Tom,

What type of certificate do you have? If you want to import an existing certificate, it has to be in PKCS12 format (.pfx). Otherwise, you will have to go through the whole process of sending a request to CA, and then receiving the certificate.

With kind regards,

Michel

Hmm, I don't know what the format is. It came from my ISY99 and has no extension. I guess I will just create a new ss cert.

Tom

Hi Tom,

You cannot use the 99 certificate. If it was self signed, then please recreate one for your 994.

With kind regards,

Michel
