Keypad LED polarity seems backwards

I just installed a few KeypadLinc 6-button switches.

They have an On button, an Off button, and 4 smaller square buttons.

The On and Off buttons control the main load (a light, in my case).

If you press On, the light turns on. Press Off, the light turns off.

Fine.

When you enter the dark room where one of these is installed, it's nice that one of the buttons is lit up.

Unfortunately, it's the Off button that's lit up. I usually like to turn on the lights in a dark room, so I need to find the On button,

but it's the Off button that is easy to find because it's lit up.

When the room light is on, the On button is lit up. Again, if the room is lit up, I don't need the On button to light up

to tell me that the room light is on.

1. The button lighting for the On/Off buttons seems to display the status of the load. However, the load is the room light, so the status is redundant with the state of the load. Is there a way to illuminate the button that will change the state, i.e., On for 'turn on the light' and Off for 'turn off the light'? I tried writing a program to set the state of the switch to On if the light was off and Off if the light was On. The results were entertaining. The kitchen lights flashed on and off, generating a lot of traffic on the power lines so it was difficult to re-write and save the program to the controller because it was busy turning the kitchen lights on and off.

2. These buttons should act as toggles...press the top button and it should turn on the load and turn off the light behind the button, just like the four Scene buttons do. Is there a way to program them to do that?

Thanks,

Chelmite

Hi Chelmite,

I enjoyed and found myself agreeing with your treatise on KPL button statuses.

Unfortunately you cannot do the former. For the latter (toggle vs. non-toggle), click on one of the nodes of the KPL and then click on Buttons Toggle Mode button at the bottom of the screen. This allows you to change the toggle mode behavior for each of the buttons.

With kind regards,

Michel
